Chapter 161 Invitation

On a sunny afternoon, after a good meal and a few drinks.

Thor looked at the little dumpling with his big eyes reluctantly in the direction of the tavern door, and walked back slowly.

Triton stood on the other side of Lingling, also held tightly by Lingling's chubby little hand.

Huhu leaned against him and followed him closely.

The three young men followed behind them, looking at the little guy with doting eyes, trying to tilt his head and not wanting to look back. They couldn't help but want to laugh, but they were afraid that someone might be secretly spying on them, so they had to keep a serious expression.

The few of them walked slowly back to where the carriages were parked, and as expected, there were already several strangers standing there.

The man in the lead, who looked to be in his thirties, was wearing clothes made of fine material. He had an expression that could not hide his arrogance and was talking to Amos.

Amos seemed to not want to pay attention to that person, or maybe he rarely dealt with such difficult people, and his expression was very impatient.

When Amos saw Thor and the others coming back, his eyes lit up instantly. He ignored the man's ugly expression and ran over in three or two steps.

Just as he stood still and was about to say something, he felt the vague gazes from all around him. He then controlled himself and spoke briefly: "Elf King, Mermaid King, someone is looking for you."

In fact, he wanted to say that someone was causing trouble and was determined to buy the orcs with a "large sum of money" while the Elf King and his men were away.

Of course Amos refused to do it, but the man who claimed to be the Duke of Norton's house steward used all kinds of threats and inducements, which made him extremely annoyed.

Thor nodded to show that he understood.

Amos finally felt relieved. He smiled at Lingling, who was looking at him with a silly and cute face, and strode back.

When he passed by the butler, he acted even more arrogant than him, which made the butler very angry.

The butler of the Duke of Norton's family was angry, but when he saw Thor and the others approaching, he had to grit his teeth and quickly change his expression.

He wore a broad smile on his face and bowed respectfully to Thor and Triton, saying, "Your Excellency the Elf King and the Mermaid King, I am sorry to bother you."

Thor ignored him.

Tritton replied coldly, "It's very disturbing. What's the matter?"

Seeing that he could no longer buy the orcs in advance through coercion or inducement, the butler had to use the second method ordered by the Duke.

He acted hospitable and flattering, "My Duke heard that you two had entered the city, especially you, the Mermaid King. Last time, someone in the family was ignorant and offended you. There happens to be a dinner party at the manor tonight, so the Duke wanted to invite you to attend the party and apologize to you in person."

Triton scoffed, "If you really want to apologize, just ask him to come. Why do I have to go there myself?!"

The butler broke out in a cold sweat, realizing that he shouldn't have mentioned an apology and should have just said there was a dinner party. His brain raced.

Suddenly, he saw the cute little Lingling being held by two people. She was looking at them curiously, and an idea suddenly came to his mind.

He slapped his lips and apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I didn't explain clearly. The Duke was concerned that you two had nowhere to stay in the city, and those shabby inns couldn't provide adequate accommodation for you. That's why he wanted to invite you to a banquet and rest at the manor."

The butler looked at Lingling with a flattering expression, then said to Thor, "Judging from her appearance, this little girl must be your child, the Elf King. She's so cute. There will be a lot of delicious food at the dinner party, and she can even sleep in a princess bed at night. For the sake of the child, what do you think?"

For some reason, he did not mention the orcs at all, which was completely different from when he faced Amos.

Seeing that the butler's excuses were all directed at Lingling, Thor didn't want to continue arguing with him on the street. He pretended to think for a moment, looked at Triton and pretended to persuade him:

"What he said makes sense. We're here to broaden Lingling's horizons and trade with those orcs. We can save a lot of money, so why not? Let's go. Others have said they've apologized to you."

Behind Tritton, Geoffrey and Jeremy also stepped forward and pretended to persuade him, "Father, let's go. We don't want to stay in a shabby hotel. Besides, they weren't the ones who captured my sister last time, so it won't hurt to go."

Tritton then looked as if he were considering this.

"Uncle~" Lingling, who was unaware of the situation, saw that everyone was trying to persuade Triton, and couldn't help but follow suit: "Lingling wants to eat something delicious~"

Hearing Lingling's baby voice, Triton immediately pretended to have finished thinking and looked at the butler coldly: "Alright, why don't you lead the way?"

......

Thor and the others got on the carriage and followed the butler's carriage.

Half an hour later, the carriage stopped.

"Elf King, Mermaid King, we're here." The butler's flattering voice came from outside.

Hearing the sound, Thor, who was playing cat's tuck with Lingling, grabbed Lingling's little hand, making the little girl giggle. Then he prepared to take Josiah, Lingling and Huhu out of the car.

As soon as I got off the carriage, I saw a middle-aged man wearing a crimson velvet coat, exquisite boots, and a hat trimmed with four mink furs standing at the gate of the manor.

When the middle-aged man saw Thor getting off the first carriage, he immediately walked over.

He had a hypocritical smile on his face and was about to walk up to say something when he saw Thor turned around and carefully picked up a little girl as if he didn't see him.

The little girl was two or three years old, with fair skin, pointed ears, and a delicate and cute appearance. Her arms and legs were round and short, and she was dressed very similarly to the Elf King.

The butler leaned close to Duke Norton's ear and whispered to him about Lingling's identity. A gleam of light instantly flashed in the Duke's eyes.

"Hmm?"

The little dumpling was held obediently by Thor, and his little body trembled a little.

Thor lowered his eyes and asked with concern: "Baby, what's wrong? Are you a little cold after getting off the carriage?"

Upon hearing this, Josiah, who had not yet gotten off the carriage, subconsciously turned back to get Lingling's blanket.

But Lingling shook her head blankly, and her animal-like instinct made her look up at the Duke who was staring at her.

Thor and Josiah followed Lingling's gaze and understood what she was saying. They didn't ask any more questions and waited for Triton to come forward before slowly walking towards Duke Norton.

Edward Norton - Duke Norton saw them coming and hurriedly walked forward with his butler and began to greet them.

Thor held Lingling in his arms, not wanting to chat with them any longer. He simply said a few words and then made his request, luring the fish into the trap.

"Duke Norton, since you invited us here, please arrange for the bounty hunters we hired and our "goods". I don't want anyone else to touch our things."

Duke Norton was a little angry. He had always been domineering, but when had he become so humble and had to look at other people's faces?

However, when Thor took the initiative to mention the orcs, his anger disappeared and turned into joy.

He agreed repeatedly: "This is inevitable!"

Having said that, he winked at the housekeeper to arrange for the tree people and the beastmen.

The butler walked towards Amos with an arrogant look on his face and said:

"Everyone, please!"
