Chapter 21 Playing with Lingling

It's a beautiful day with nice weather and sunshine.

The entrance to the tree nursery is built with vines.

Several little tree people were walking breathlessly, carrying a chubby little baby on their branches.

It wasn't that far to walk all the way from the Holy Lake, but they overestimated themselves and underestimated Lingling.

They were actually a little tired when they walked halfway slowly.

But in a corner where Lingling couldn't see, they glanced at each other, gritted their teeth, and neither of them complained of being tired.

At this time, their thoughts were highly consistent: whoever complained of being tired first would be the most useless and would be looked down upon by their sister in the future!

So, the stubborn little tree people walked breathlessly all the way to the entrance of the tree nursery.

George looked at the door that was just around the corner, breathed a sigh of relief, and said to his brothers, "Put your sister down first. I'll go get her crib."

The younger brothers were delighted and quickly found a dry and flat place to put Lingling down.

As soon as she was put down, Lingling, who was almost asleep from being rocked, immediately woke up.

"Ah?" Lingling let out some unconscious sounds.

George ran in quickly, and after a while, he came out panting with his sister's tree basket.

He looked around, found a sunny spot, and placed the tree basket there.

Then he immediately asked his brothers to lift Lingling up and put her in the tree basket, and then he leaned against the gate to rest.

Eddie, Alan, Alec and Alphonse were also very tired. After settling their sister down, they each found a place to lean back and rest.

The silly kids took a break for a while, looked at each other, then looked at their well-behaved sister, and unconsciously pointed at each other and laughed.

Lingling was put into the crib but had not yet laid down. When she heard her brothers' laughter, she curiously sat up by the edge of the basket, staring at her brothers who were laughing happily with her big eyes blinking.

"Uncle Bai, what's wrong with the brothers? Is there anything fun?" Struggling to speak clearly, Lingling simply asked Bai Jiu for help.

Bai Jiu thought for a moment, summarized his thoughts, and replied, "My brothers feel like they've accomplished something truly remarkable, so they're feeling happy."

Lingling tilted her head and asked uncertainly, "Just like when Lingling healed Dashu and my uncle and aunt? Lingling was very happy then, too."

Bai Jiu smiled and affirmed, "Yes, Lingling has also done something remarkable."

Being praised~

Lingling clapped her hands happily.

The clapping sound attracted the attention of the brothers who were resting.

After resting for a while, they recovered and came to Lingling's tree basket to express their longing for her all day.

"Sister, be good, big brother will accompany you." This is the steady big brother.

"Sister, why did you suddenly disappear? Are you hurt?" This is Eddie who imitated his elder brother's calmness.

"Sister, were you scared at that time? We were scared and worried about you. Fortunately, you came back." This is Alann who is good at speaking nicely.

"Sister...don't be afraid...your brother will be with you." This is Alec who is still worried.

"Sister, your brothers miss you so much." This is the bold and straightforward Alphonse.

They didn't expect Lingling to answer, but simply expressed their longing for her, fearing that their sister would disappear again in the next second.

When Lingling heard her brothers’ concern and longing for her, she felt a little sad. Is this what it feels like to be missed by family?

It tasted sour and sweet, just like the small fruit she had just eaten this morning. She didn't hate the feeling.

Lingling stretched out her chubby little hands and touched her brothers' small branches one by one, using actions instead of words to express her emotions.

The little tree people felt the sister's response and were very happy.

Knowing that his sister couldn't communicate with them, he simply stopped talking and settled down next to the Lingling tree basket to bask in the sun with her.

Any slightly glaring light was blocked by their small bodies.

Lingling didn't feel the sun at all, she just felt warm all over.

While basking in the sun, several brothers pulled some grass from the roadside and began to try to weave some small animals for their sister to play with.

So, when the adults came over after discussing, they saw Lingling staring at her brothers playing with straw weaving things.

She also held some grass in her little hands, but it was wrinkled. It seemed that she wanted to learn how to weave grass from her brothers, but she failed. She could only look forward to her brothers' weaving skills.

There was a little rabbit in her arms. I don’t know which brother made it for her, but Lingling carefully protected it in her arms.

The adults looked at the children with satisfaction, and stopped walking over temporarily, fearing to disturb the warm atmosphere, and just looked at them from afar.

However, they stopped, and Lingling, who was sitting in the tree basket and looking around, noticed them with her sharp eyes.

Her eyes immediately sparkled, and she raised her little hand, which was still holding the grass, and waved it vigorously.

"Ahh~ (Grandpa and grandma~)" they were so enthusiastic that they almost jumped out of the basket.

Several elders and Irene smiled, but did not stop and walked straight ahead.

For fear of blocking the children's sun, several adults walked over and carefully found a spot to ensure that they would not affect the children's sunbathing.

Only Ashley walked to Lingling's tree basket first and took out a colorful wreath from behind her back.

"Huahua!" Lingling shouted excitedly, her face filled with joy.

Ashley couldn't help but feel happy watching this, so she said, "Thump, thump, thump~"

Another wreath appeared, and not only that, there were also two smaller bracelets that were much smaller, also made of wild flowers, which were very exquisite.

She had never seen such beautiful wreaths and bracelets before. Lingling stared at them with her big eyes without blinking.

Ashley didn't say anything more. She put one of the garlands on the little one's head, put the small bracelets around Lingling's two little wrists, and gave the remaining beautiful garland to Lingling to hold and play with.

Lingling quickly put the wrinkled grass in her hand aside and held the garland carefully. Because she had two small bracelets on her wrists, her holding motion was a little strange, for fear that one would damage the other.

The little face was originally smiling, but it was stretched tight to protect the wreath and bracelets.

Ashley was so amused that she reminded him, "Baby, don't be so careful. It won't break. If it does, grandma will make you another one. Don't worry about it."

Lingling felt a little relieved when she heard that the flower would not break, but she was still very careful with her movements, for fear that she would damage the beautiful flower.

Seeing that Lingling was still very careful, Ashley was at her wit's end. She thought that it would be fine if she played for a while longer, so she stopped talking.

Sure enough, after playing with it for a while, the little guy finally let go and played with it, finding that the garland was really not easy to break.

Not only that, she also held up wreaths and straw rabbits and tried to give them to her brothers to play with, and the children laughed and made noises.
