Chapter 52: Showing Your Attitude

Beside the stream in the elves' territory, there are leisurely white clouds and heavy cloud shadows.

Several slender female elves gathered by the stream, discussing something in low voices.

A female elf who had just come out of the house was curious. She came up behind them and asked in a low voice, imitating them: "What are you talking about?"

The other elves who were discussing enthusiastically were startled by a sudden sound coming from behind.

But he quickly came to his senses, patted the scary female elf in annoyance, and then excitedly pulled her in to discuss it.

"Have you heard? Cynthia, who came back a while ago, is pregnant with two babies. Both were born safely last night."

"I heard about it. I live close to the castle, and there was a lot of noise at night. I thought something had happened. But this morning I saw the couple leave with their two children."

"You don't know how dangerous it was for her to be pregnant with twins, as her husband is a mermaid. Yet, both were born safely. It seems the Elf King has found a solution."

"I heard it wasn't the Elf King who helped her. He was very angry with her behavior. It was Lingling, the little doll who helped Josiah and the others heal their faces."

"Really? Then we don't have to be afraid of having children anymore? I'm afraid of a difficult labor and that's why I don't dare to have a child. Actually, I really want a child as well-behaved as Lingling. Oh~ She's so adorable."

"Don't even think about it. If anyone gets pregnant and wants to harm the child, the Elf King will definitely not agree. He loves her more than we do. This time, he must have had no choice but to agree."

The female elf who said she wanted to have a child lowered her head and touched her belly. "Actually, I'm not afraid of dying. I'm just afraid that after my child is born, she'll know that she was born at the cost of her mother's life. She'll be sad and blame herself."

The other female elves remained silent. They wanted to give birth too, but the probability of their successful childbirth was too low. During childbirth, either the child did not survive or the mother could not make it. The elves who gave birth successfully were those in extremely good physical condition during pregnancy.

They don't know if this is because elves generally have a longer lifespan, so in order to balance it, the elves' fertility is restricted, but they really want their own elves.

Babette, the female elf who came up from behind, asked, "Why don't we go ask her? Even if we can't get Lingling to help us, we can still try to understand the method she uses. We have so much time left in our lives, I don't believe we can't find a way."

The other female elves were silent for a while, thought about it, but still couldn't suppress their inner impulse and nodded.

......

Over here, in the castle garden.

Lingling, who had just eaten her fill, was walking slowly around the garden, holding Thor's hand with one hand and Josiah's hand with the other.

He said he was going to take a walk to appreciate the flowers after dinner, but from time to time he would let go to chase the little butterflies, and from time to time he would squat down to watch the ants walking in rows on the ground.

Just like her lively nature, it seems that moving things always attract her attention more.

Suddenly, Lingling's little ears moved and she turned to look towards the castle gate.

She heard many voices.

"Brother, did you hear the sound?" Lingling curiously asked Josiah, who was closest to her at the time.

Josiah was watching the ants with Lingling. Hearing this, he stood up and listened carefully.

"There was indeed a sound. Who was it so early in the morning?"

He looked at Thor, who was temporarily ignored because Lingling was watching ants and simply went to the side to trim the branches.

"Father, I'll go take a look."

Thor didn't respond to him, but raised his hand and waved at him casually.

Then he walked to Lingling in three or two steps, raised a beautiful smile on his lips, and inserted a small pink flower he had trimmed into the hair of the little man who was still squatting on the ground watching the ants with great interest.

Lingling was startled, raised her two little hands and touched her head, felt the familiar shape, and smiled at Thor with her little white teeth.

Josiah: ...I am just, very redundant.

Helpless, Josiah had no choice but to go and check it out silently.

After a while, Josiah came in with the female elves.

A look of difficulty appeared on Josiah's youthful face.

He looked at Thor and called out, "Father, these sisters are looking for you."

Thor was pinning flowers on Lingling's head. Hearing this, he looked up and saw that his fellow tribesmen were in a good mood and greeted them.

"Good morning, everyone. What can I do for you?"

Babette, the female elf who had made the suggestion, stepped forward, bowed, and then explained loudly, "I'm sorry to bother you. We've heard about Cynthia's situation and would like to understand why she was able to give birth safely."

Thor paused, put all the flowers in Lingling's hair, and then covered Lingling's ears.

"I won't hide it from you, this isn't my credit, it's hers." He looked at Lingling with warmth in his eyes.

"But," Thor raised his eyes and looked at the female elves, "I'm sorry that as the Elf King, I haven't found a way yet, and I don't plan to use the little one's abilities, so please understand."

The female elves looked a little disappointed.

Thor felt bad too, and continued, "I've been in contact with my friends from the Tree People a lot lately. Their healing magic is very powerful. I've been learning from them and constantly trying new methods. Please wait a little longer."

The elves were delighted when they heard what was said. They felt relieved after hearing what the Elf King said. They had originally just planned to make some simple inquiries, but now it turned out that there was still hope.
