Chapter 96 Anxiety

Two hundred meters deep in the sea.

Triton swam very fast with Lingling. He pressed Lingling's little head in his arms and accelerated all the way.

"Hurry up, hurry up, I have to hurry up!" Triton reminded himself repeatedly in his heart.

The ominous black gas emerging from the cracks on the seabed kept flashing through his mind, and the more he thought about it, the more anxious he became.

He had personally experienced the chaos of twenty years ago. The horrified faces and painful groans of his tribesmen still frightened him when he recalled them now.

Although the crack is far away from the Mermaid Kingdom, it will spread sooner or later, so he is particularly worried.

"Uncle?" Lingling, buried in Trydon's arms, called him, her voice a little distorted and muffled.

"What's wrong, Lingling? Are you feeling uncomfortable because your uncle swims too fast?" Triton had to stop temporarily to ask Lingling, fearing that he would be careless and make Lingling feel uncomfortable again.

Lingling raised her head from Tryton's arms, shook her head gently, and stretched out her little hand to touch Tryton's forehead.

"Uncle, your heart is beating so fast. Are you scared?" Lingling's blue eyes were filled with worry. Her little hands tried to smooth down Trydon's frown. "Although Uncle looks good like this, Lingling doesn't like it."

"I..." Triton didn't know what to say. Was he scared? Maybe he was.

Triton's big hand gently held Lingling's soft little hand, as if this would make him feel more at ease. His voice was tense: "Yes, uncle may be scared."

"Is Uncle afraid of the dark?" Lingling looked at the darkness around him and thought that Triton was afraid of the dark like him.

"Uncle is not afraid of the dark. He is afraid of those black things he just saw in the crack on the seabed." Triton explained as he swam forward again.

Lingling held one of her little hands in Tryton's hand, and with the other hand tightly grasped Tryton's collar, she frowned and thought hard.

Hmm—? Hmm—? Hmm!

Lingling shook her head in frustration, giving up thinking. She leaned against Triton's chest with some frustration and replied, "I'm sorry, uncle. Lingling was just paying attention to the fish and didn't notice the black thing you mentioned."

Triton paused his tail and said quickly, "Lingling, you don't have to say sorry. You were busy saving those killer whales just now. You were already very impressive. Even your uncle couldn't save them."

"And if you didn't pay attention, then you didn't pay attention. Just leave these things to the uncles to deal with."

Lingling leaned her little head against Tryton, and continued to recall the past without giving up.

"Ahh~ Lingling still can't remember. Uncle Bai, do you remember?" The little guy howled twice in frustration. He had no choice but to look for help.

Bai Jiu, who had been on standby, immediately answered Lingling's questions and even called up the images from that time.

"It's okay, Lingling, uncle has recorded it. Look, this is it." Bai Jiu highlighted the black gas on the image.

In the chaos just now, Lingling was busy rescuing the killer whales, and he was also collecting information non-stop.

He had heard about the disaster that happened twenty years ago many times in the two years he had been following Lingling. Previously, he had simply thought that it was a large-scale leak of some kind of polluting gas, which was mistakenly believed by various tribes on the continent to be demonic energy. It had disappeared after the earthquake and would not reappear.

But after that hasty investigation just now, he felt that things were not simple.

That was not a gas that existed in nature at all. It must have been artificially made. However, what he could investigate at the moment was very limited. He needed to wait for Lingling's uncles to investigate further before he could draw a conclusion.

"Uncle Bai, you're really awesome! Thank you~" Lingling happily waved her little fish tail to thank Bai Jiu, then turned around and perfunctorily responded to Triton, who was almost ignored: "Okay, okay~, then I'll leave it to the uncles."

After saying that, he looked at the picture attentively, trying to find out what was different in it.

Triton waited for a while, and when he heard the little fellow fell silent, he stopped talking and continued to swim towards the mermaid kingdom.

......

"Isn't it too late for the Mermaid King to arrive? The water-repellent beads are about to lose their effectiveness."

Tag stood at the door of the hall, looked outside, and touched the pearls hanging around his neck with some worry. The bright red pearls had faded, and only a small piece of red remained.

"Don't worry about the water-repellent beads, we can give you another one." Kalinda comforted Tag and Holly as he stood next to them.

"The problem isn't the water-repellent beads, it's that the time is a bit too long. Besides, Lingling has inherited the heritage of the mermaids, and she is no longer restricted by the water-repellent beads." Thor explained calmly.

If he hadn't been holding Huhu in his arms and kneading her little paws with one hand, everyone might have really believed that he was calm and composed.

Huhu, who dared not speak out but was angry, said: ...In the end, I took all the responsibility.

Just when Huhu was about to give it a try and rise up in resistance.

"Thor!" A familiar voice came from afar with the waves, the tone full of anxiety.

It was the voice of the Merman King Triton.

Thor heard the anxiety in Trydon's tone and thought something had happened to Lingling. He casually stuffed Huhu into Holly's arms and shot out like a water arrow.

"How does he swim so fast? Don't we all live on land?" Holly hurriedly hugged Huhu and whispered to Tag.

Tag glared at him unhappily, then chased after him, saying, "Hurry up, the Mermaid King's voice isn't right."

Upon hearing this, Holly and the mermaid family immediately followed.

A few moments later, Triton, Thor, and several others who followed them met in the Crystal Square.

As soon as Thor saw Triton, he asked sharply, "What happened to Lingling?"

As soon as Triton came back and saw the Elf King, he felt a little relieved. After all, the Elf King's magic could just restrain the evil spirit.

He subconsciously excluded Lingling, saying that she was still young and shouldn't be involved in such a dangerous thing.

"Huh~ Lingling, it's okay. It's not convenient to talk here. Let's go back and talk." Triton let out a sigh and looked at the mermaids outside the square who were startled by his voice and swam out of the shell houses.

"Yes~ Uncle Thor, Lingling is fine~" The little guy also got down from Tryton's arms and hugged Thor.

Seeing that Lingling was fine, Thor hugged her small body, looked at Triton, whose face was not very good, and nodded slightly: "Okay, let's go."

As he said this, he turned around and swam back.

Kalinda stepped forward and hugged Trydon's arm, looking at her husband's expression with some worry.

Triton gently rubbed his wife's head and looked at Sophia. "Sophia, take your mother back to rest first. I have something to discuss with the Elf King and my two friends from the Tree People."

As he said this, he gently pushed Kalinda towards Sophia, and went towards Thor with Tag and Holly who was holding Huhu.

"What on earth happened? I haven't seen this expression on Father's face in a long time."

Jeremy looked at his father's receding back and murmured uneasily.

Jeffrey didn't say anything, but just stared at the people in the living room silently.

I hope nothing happens.
