Changqi has been so busy with joint ventures in recent years that it has abandoned its own research and development. If it weren't for the persistence of people like Peng Guangming, it would probably have no foundation at all.
But these people are all middle-aged, and the technology they are exposed to is from the 1980s, which is now far outdated.
These people have almost no understanding of current cars, and the reason they are still insisting is because of their unwillingness to accept defeat.
Although Nanwan’s technology is not considered the most advanced in the world, it is already considered superior in their eyes.
Not to mention that Nanwan Group's Qingfeng sedan is the Panda, and even Changqi can't make it on its own now, let alone the very beautiful sedan called Xiongfeng that they saw today.
Being able to access South Bay’s technology here and participate in technological research will be of enormous and unparalleled help to them.
"Of course it's true. We can provide accommodation, but you'll have to pay for your own meals. And the products you'll be able to learn from definitely won't be South Bay's current top-tier products. You'll only be able to access our outdated or soon-to-be-obsolete products."
Strictly speaking, Nanwan Group currently has only four gasoline engine models: 378, 468, 478, and 479.
Among them, the three-cylinder 378 was transferred to Li Fu, which means it was eliminated.
The 378 transferred to Li Fu was just the original model from Hengbida. Now the Nanwan Engine Department has released two modified versions of this engine, 378A and 378B. Some Pandas have begun to switch to the 378A engine, but the 378B has not yet been used.
The three-cylinder engine itself is not very popular among people in South Bay. This engine has only had two modifications and has not been modified again.
The 468 engine has three modifications, from A to C.
Apart from slightly different appearances, the biggest changes among these four engines are inside the engines, mainly the gradual increase in power and the gradual decrease in fuel consumption, as well as electronic fuel injection technology.
The output power of the 468C is already qualified to be a 1.5L model.
Not to mention these engines that have been launched for some time, even the 479 that has just been used in actual vehicles and the 478 that has not yet been used have teams that are already modifying the electronic fuel injection. After the electronic fuel injection modification is completed, the internal structure of the engine will be further optimized to strive for improvements in increasing power and saving fuel.
The engines currently sold by Nanwan are all original models, and the only improved model of the engine sold is the 378A.
Therefore, the models given to Peng Guangming and others to learn are the original models, and these improved models will not be open to the public.
"That's no problem. We can take care of our own food. We don't care about falling behind or being advanced. As long as we have a chance to learn, that's enough."
They can’t even produce the backward ones, so why talk about advanced ones? The most important thing now is to learn to move forward.
"There's one more condition, and it's a crucial one. As I said before, Changqi is our competitor after all, and we can't train talent for them for nothing. If you develop any research results in the future, we want to share them, or if your technology generates economic benefits for Changqi, we want a certain percentage of the dividends. That's not too much, right?"
This question once again made Peng Guangming and Gu Mengliang fall into deep thought.
The issue of technology sharing seems to be of little use. In the short term, it is unlikely that they will have any technology that South Bay needs.
The second point is that there are dividends based on performance, but since they are a state-owned enterprise, it would be difficult to realize it even if they really make achievements one day.
Asking Changqi to distribute technology dividends to a private enterprise is a big deal. I don’t think the leadership of Changqi would agree.
"Boss Wan! We can consider the first point you mentioned, but I don't think any of our achievements in the short term would be worth sharing with Nanwan. I can't agree to the second point. It's not about the money. You know Changqi is a state-owned enterprise. This kind of thing is beyond my personal control and my team's ability to help."
Wan Feng thought about it and realized that this was indeed the case. Changqi was such a large group. Even if Peng Guangming had signed some contracts with him, if they had really achieved some results, Nanwan would have to distribute the dividends according to the contract. What if Changqi did not recognize it?
Sue them?
That's fun, it just depends on which side can waste more time.
Peng Guangming is fifty years old now, and he might have retired by then, so it might not be possible to find him.
"Let's call it the first one then. Maybe you'll get inspired one day and come up with some new technology. Who knows which cloud will bring rain?"
This is really uncertain. Once the master leads the apprentice to the door, it is really unpredictable what the apprentice will do.
"Mr. Wan! Can you take me to visit your car production workshop after dinner?" Gu Mengliang made a request.
"No problem. Our production workshop is not secretive to the outside world, at least not to the Chinese people."
After dinner, Wan Feng drove Peng Guangming and Gu Mengliang back to Nandawan and went straight into the yard of Nanwan Micro-Car.
Since the pickup trucks moved out of Nanwan Micro-Auto, the southern factory now produces the Light of Happiness, Breeze, and Panda.
The original Huaguang Technology in the north has finally come into use after being idle for a long time after a small-scale renovation.
Xiongfeng occupies half of the area here, and the other half is reserved for hurricane production in October.
The tour starts with a visit to the panda production workshop.
Huaguang Panda has started producing the second generation so far, and the power of both models has changed.
The second-generation Panda uses the 378A engine, which has even more powerful power while maintaining the same basic parameters as the first generation.
Peng Guangming and Gu Mengliang were quite shocked when they learned that Nanwan Group's Panda cars had sold more than 500,000 units in total.
"We always thought the domestic auto market only had annual sales of about 1.2 million vehicles, including trucks, but that's completely different."
Over 1.2 million vehicles? What year is this data from? 1991 or 1992?
Nanwan Group now sells 300,000 to 400,000 vehicles of various types a year, and they still believe that China's annual automobile market only has more than one million vehicles.
Before the cancellation of pointed-nose medium-duty trucks, Nanwan Group's annual truck sales reached a maximum of 180,000 units.
Even though the sales of medium-sized trucks are only 50,000 units now, the sales figures of large and small dump trucks are still similar. The sales figures of pickup trucks and microvans are 130,000 to 140,000 units a year, plus the sales figures of Panda and Qingfeng are 150,000.
Nanwan alone has sales of over 400,000 vehicles, which is conservatively estimated to account for about one-eighth of China's total automobile sales.
That is to say, the total annual sales figures of various automobiles in China are between 2.5 million and 3 million.
This number will continue to expand, and it is expected to reach five million or even more by around 2000.
