Chapter 102 Golden Eagle Couple

Tiger Mom and Courage weren't idle either. The two of them, one big and one small, were catching fish by the hole. Although there weren't as many fish as before, some still swam over from time to time, and occasionally a fish would float up from underwater.

Felines are expert fish catchers, and the tiger mom only needs to extend her claws to catch fish. If she's lucky, she can even catch two at once, bringing her a happy tiger.

Time flowed slowly by, the sky gradually darkened, and snowflakes began to fall again, pure white and icy cold.

Courage licked the snow off its nose, occasionally shaking off the snowflakes, its eyes fixed intently on the water's surface; it had lost all interest in the icy liquid.

Lin Qian finally finished making four animal hide bags. The stitching made with branches was crooked, but the fact that the hides weren't damaged was thanks to their good quality.

Although Lin Qian only managed to get four, he was quite satisfied: two deer hides and two wild boar hides, all of which were very large.

The holes in the limbs serve as the bottom, so there's no need to worry about load-bearing capacity.

Because the tiger mother usually makes the incision on the back, and the animal skin on the belly is completely peeled off, there is no need to worry about it tearing and the whole bag of fish spilling all over the ground.

However, Lin Qian still added another animal hide inside just in case, since he had already brought it with him and would have to take it back anyway.

Fortunately, the tiger mom cut the limbs at the joints of the lower legs and thighs, and tying knots was much easier than using branches.

Lin Qian explained the meaning of putting the fish into animal hides.

Tiger Mom's eyes lit up immediately; her cub was so smart!

The tigress and Courage understood what it meant, but they hadn't yet realized its effect. However, that didn't stop them from starting to pretend to catch the fish.

The two adults and two children quickly started packing, and soon, almost all the fish on the river were packed.

Lin Qian looked up at the large birds still circling high in the sky, thought for a moment, and decided not to pick up the remaining fish.

"Aww." Let's go back.

The mother tiger and the tigress had no objections; they knew the rules of survival in the forest well, and they had originally planned to leave one or two fish behind.

Although the big birds couldn't do anything to them, the two big cats would try to leave two fish behind to divert attention, since they didn't want to be followed by the big birds all the way.

Wild boar hide is much more durable than deer hide. Each bag contained at least 35 kilograms of fish, which the tigress and her mother could easily carry without affecting their speed.

Lin Qian and Yong Qi's deerskin bags, however, contained far less, weighing only about 20 pounds. This weight wouldn't be a burden for them, but they still had to travel.

It's not a short walk back from here, and their stamina isn't as good as the two big cats'. This weight will keep them going until they get home.

Once the tiger entered the forest on the shore, the large birds in the sky couldn't wait to swoop down; they had already set their sights on their target.

With just a few soft whistles of wind, the remaining few river fish on the ice disappeared without a trace.

Once the eagle had obtained its food, it flew away from the area in an instant. When birds get food, they fly to places that other animals cannot reach to feed, which ensures that their food will not be stolen while they are feeding.

Unexpectedly, the golden eagles did not immediately swoop down to snatch the food. They landed only after the eagles had flown away, and they did not show any signs of anxiety when they looked at the remaining three fish on the ice.

After landing, the couple silently and quickly ate, and then the female eagle, having eaten her fill, flew back up into the sky and circled again.

The male eagle shook off the thin layer of snowflakes from its body and walked towards the ice hole. By this time, the hole had been covered with another layer of thin ice, which was the power of the cold winter.

Without hesitation, the golden eagle's hard beak struck the ice, shattering the thin ice completely. Then it flapped its wings and took flight, but instead of soaring into the sky, it landed on an empty tree branch by the river.

The female eagle continued to circle high in the sky, occasionally letting out a cry, completely unlike before when she had circled quietly without making a sound.

The male golden eagle stood quietly on the treetop, staring intently at the hole not far away.

Some of the broken ice pieces sank, while others melted into the river. Snowflakes continued to fall, and before long, a new layer of ice would appear in the hole.

As the snowflakes fell silently, several grass carp swam slowly down the riverbed. As they passed the hole, they all changed direction at the same time, wagging their tails and swimming happily toward the hole.

Just as the bluish-black fish head emerged from the bottom of the water, a shadow fell at the same time. Powerful claws swept across the water's surface, and two plump grass carp were snatched by the golden eagle.

The grass carp opened their mouths, thirsting for water. They didn't know how they got out of the water; the howling wind left them bewildered.

Before it could even think, the tightly clenched claws suddenly loosened, and a heavy thud echoed as the grass carp crashed onto the ice, gradually losing consciousness. Its once lively tail began to stiffen quietly.

A few minutes later, the male eagle repeated the process and caught two more plump river fish.

This time, instead of falling into the river, it flapped its wings and flew into the sky.

The moment the male eagle succeeds, the female eagle swoops down with a joyful cry, quickly snatches the frozen river fish, and then, with a turn, flaps its wings and flies away.

The golden eagle couple flew back to their nest satisfied, clutching the fish; these fish were enough for them to have another full meal.

Lin Qian and the others were unaware of the golden eagle couple's actions. If they had seen it, Lin Qian would have used his spiritual sense to scan them even if it meant exhausting his mental energy.

He had already used up a lot of his spiritual energy when he was looking for the spirit fish, so although he was tempted when he saw the golden eagle and the hawk, he did not use his remaining spiritual sense to scan them.

Back at the pond, the family of tigerfish laid their fish on the snow, looking at the large pile of fish, and were very happy.
