Chapter 185 Obstructing Spiritual Consciousness

Humans pose no real danger to small animals like chipmunks. People who come up the mountain are usually just charmed by their cuteness and might even feed them occasionally. They are unlikely to attempt to capture or catch them.

But it's different with large animals like tigers. Law-abiding humans like forest rangers can simply retreat in time if they encounter them.

If they encounter criminals, the tiger's fur, flesh, and bones are all gold nuggets in their eyes, making them extremely dangerous.

With his spiritual sense spreading out, Lin Qian quickly located the warehouse where the items were stored.

Previously on the ground, it wasn't that he didn't use his spiritual sense, but rather that there was a strange fluctuation underground that hindered his spiritual sense from probing, limiting the distance he could see.

Of course, this obstacle didn't disappear after they came down, but most of the warehouses were in this area, and Lin Qian found them after searching with his spiritual sense for a while.

Looking at the countless intertwined vines and roots below, Lin Qian gained a new understanding of the vitality of plants.

It seems that the city is not only covered by plants, but even the underground is being invaded. Before long, the buildings buried underground will be completely occupied by plant roots, and even if humans dig them up, they will not be able to find any usable resources.

After examining the plants for a while and confirming that they posed no threat, Lin Qian bravely continued deeper into the area.

As for the root cause of the obstruction to spiritual consciousness, Lin Qian did not want to delve into it for the time being. The purpose this time was to collect resources, not to go on an adventure or treasure hunt.

After collecting the shelves, the chipmunk was sent by its stepmother to collect bottles and jars of things like shower gel. The little guy collected them quickly, but he was also a bit worried because his space was only ten square meters, which was limited.

Watching the white tiger enthusiastically rummaging through the items, the chipmunk felt that it might not be able to hold everything.

Although he was worried, the little guy dared not say it out loud, much less stop his stepmother's free shopping spree.

So the family collected the items while silently planning how to organize them and which food reserves to throw away first.

Wild fruits were the first thing on the discard list. The little guy loves to eat fruits, and recently the wild fruits have been growing particularly well, so naturally we've stockpiled quite a few.

"Squeak." The boy, who was squatting on the ground helping his stepmother with her things, was stunned for a moment when he saw the chipmunk suddenly jump over.

The chipmunk looked at him speechlessly, squeaked again, and handed him the two apples.

"Squeak squeak." What are you looking at? The mouse is offering you some fruit.

The boy took the apple with a blank look on his face, still a little unsure. But when he saw another fruit suddenly appear in the chipmunk's little paw and start eating it right away, the boy was now certain that the fruit was really meant for him!

I gently touched two wild apples with my dusty, muddy hands. Although they were wild, these apples were better priced than the most expensive apples in the supermarket, and they were quite large and round, looking delicious.

Looking at the fresh apples, the boy's eyes welled up with tears; he hadn't eaten fresh fruit in a long time...

Since his loved ones have died one after another, and he has been struggling to survive on his own, even getting enough to eat has been a luxury for him. He is still alive because he is clever enough to find some small packages of snacks in the ruins.

The chipmunk looked at the human in front of it, seemingly wanting to eat but not quite, and seemed puzzled. It didn't understand until it saw the boy grab a towel and vigorously wipe his hands.

Since the temperature rose, water has become scarce, and the city's water resources are not abundant, being monopolized by some private organizations. The boy uses all the water he gets for drinking, leaving no extra water for washing. This situation has been going on for a week, so the boy hasn't taken a bath for a week...

If Lin Qian and his companions weren't wild animals and didn't care so much about the smell of sweat, and if the smell weren't so noticeable at night when it got cold—so that it was almost undetectable unless you got too close—this boy would have been abandoned long ago.

Seeing that the boy's hands were red from rubbing them and still weren't clean, the chipmunk let out a disgusted squeak.

"Squeak!" The little paws held a bamboo tube, and the little eyes looked at the boy with utter disdain.

The boy was stunned for a moment, then hurriedly took the bamboo tube.

Upon opening it, I found it contained clear water.

These are the chipmunks' supplies for drinking and making ice on the road. After learning how to make bamboo tubes, the little guy has stored quite a few.

Upon seeing the clear water, the boy immediately drank it down in large gulps. He hadn't eaten or drunk anything all day since the demonic beasts entered the city.

Seeing that a bamboo tube of water had been drunk, the chipmunk was speechless. It silently took out another jar and this time poured the water directly into the boy's hand.

"Squeak!" Wash your hands!

Feeling the cold liquid flowing over him, the boy was stunned for a moment, and then his dirty face turned red visibly.

It turns out the chipmunk was for him to wash his hands.

"I'm sorry, I... I was so thirsty..." the boy said in a low voice, embarrassed, knowing that the chipmunk could understand him.

The chipmunk swished its tail, put away the empty bamboo tube, and continued pouring water. The boy quickly washed his hands, and looking at his clean palms, his eyes reddened again.

Things that were once incredibly simple are now so precious.

After helping the boy wash his hands, the chipmunk took the bamboo tube back and then handed the boy a bamboo tube filled with water.

This human is so pitiful, even drinking water makes him cry. The fluffy little head shook its head deeply. The chipmunk, who had done a good deed, ran off to find Lin Qian.

The stepmother didn't go over; the big white tiger rummaged through the ruins and wandered towards the other side of the area.

The boy blinked, wiped away his tears, lowered his head, hugged the bamboo tube, and sat on the ground, munching on an apple piece by piece.

Although it's a bit cold to eat an apple in the current temperature of around ten degrees Celsius, it doesn't affect the boy's mood. Being hungry is much worse than being cold.
