In another part of the secret realm, Afu and Amo were not separated as they wished, but this did not seem to be a stroke of luck.
Looking at the birdman in front of him, Amo decisively chose to remain silent for the time being.
The birdman glanced coldly at the man and dog, then spread his wings and flew away without looking back.
Amer only turned his gaze away when the birdman was completely out of sight.
"Afu, run!"
"Woof!"
Afu sprinted up and quickly disappeared into the woods.
Amo was terrified as he recalled the birdman he had just encountered. He and Afu had just entered the secret realm and saw this thing as soon as they opened their eyes, without even a chance to dodge.
Moreover, the opponent's aura was terrifying, completely overwhelming him and Afu. In that instant, he clearly felt that he had no power to resist.
Seeing that the other party did not make a move, Amo remained silent, clinging to Afu's back, choosing not to move unless the enemy made a move.
It seems his choice was correct. The birdman's gaze was hostile, yet he didn't attack, suggesting there were rules in place...
Amer quickly identified the problem and analyzed it.
Meanwhile, the birdman flew swiftly through the forest, pausing occasionally as if searching for something.
Suddenly, a glint appeared in his eyes, and with a flap of his wings, he quickly flew off in one direction—the direction where Sophie, Paul, and the Indian woman were.
Of course, there was also a small deer exuding a holy aura in front of the three of them.
Yes, it was a fawn, about the size of a typical young sika deer, with a translucent white body like jade.
The Indian woman had already knelt on the ground and was praying with her eyes closed.
Sophie's eyes were sparkling as she gazed at the deer with adoration.
Paul, however, was very wary. He was neither impressed by the deer's extraordinary abilities nor fooled by it.
The fawn blinked its innocent eyes, looking at the human in front of it with slight disappointment.
With a slight sigh, the fawn raised its antlers and gestured with its hoof towards the three of them.
“Young…you, come with me.”
Although they couldn't understand the deer's cry, Sophie and the others could still grasp the meaning behind it.
The Indian woman immediately followed, her expression one of utmost piety.
Paul grabbed Sophie's hand; he dared not easily follow a deer of unknown origin.
Unexpectedly, Sophie immediately broke free and ran after him.
Suddenly, a gust of wind swept in, and the birdman blocked Sophie's path.
When the little deer saw the birdman, a hint of anger appeared on its round face—this was what it had received!
"Young one!"
The deer immediately expressed its rebuke and intention to expel the fawn.
However, the birdman glanced back at the deer, hesitated for a moment, and still did not move aside. Instead, he looked directly at Sophie and the other girl and said, "Refuse it and come with me."
The birdman's voice was like the chanting of the Bible, very pleasant and melodious, but his nonchalant tone was so matter-of-fact that it seemed contradictory.
Paul immediately tightened his grip on Sophie's hand. In his view, this humanoid creature, seemingly an angel, was more reliable than a deer. Besides, it spoke human language!
Sophie was startled, but she immediately refused, saying, "No! I like deer!"
Angels? What the hell?
If it were true, why didn't it appear sooner? Why show up now to put on airs? Do you think I'm stupid?
Sophie is an atheist. Although she prayed to the so-called God during the disaster, after being swallowed up by despair and helplessness time and time again, she had long lost the little bit of awe she had left!
After refusing, Sophie shook off Paul's hand again. Paul was her teammate, and she shouldn't have been so resolute, but she had a premonition that if she didn't run over quickly, she might miss her chance!

Sophie wasn't stupid. After realizing that the birdman had first said "no" to the deer before going with him, she understood what was going on.
As for Paul, she believed in his choice, and she was certain that Paul would make the same choice as her!
Paul stared in disbelief as Sophie walked straight toward the fawn; he probably never imagined such a situation would arise.
Paul hesitated as he looked at the humanoid creature in front of him, who resembled a Westerner but seemed to be an angel.
"Reject it, and come with me!"
Seeing Sophie walk up to the deer, the birdman's face darkened horribly, and he looked at Paul with a very unfriendly gaze.
Before the earthquake, Paul was a devout believer. He believed in God and loved angels, but when he was looked at with such cold eyes, his burning piety still felt cold.
If it were before the disaster, he would have knelt and prayed devoutly upon seeing such a miraculous "angel," but now...
Sophie stood at a distance, nervously watching Paul. She wanted to say something, but a chilling feeling locked onto her, preventing her from speaking.
Sophie could only grit her teeth and tremble as she brushed her matted hair aside, revealing her left earlobe, which was mostly missing.
"No, I won't abandon Sophie!"
Paul, who had been wavering, made a decision in an instant. He ran to Sophie and hugged her tightly. He had promised to protect her forever!
Sophie smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, thank goodness Paul came...
The bird-man flapped its wings in anger, sending wave after wave of wind crashing down, only to be deflected by a faint halo of light.
The fawn held its head high, gave the birdman a smug look, and then trotted into the forest step by step.
