Chapter 263 The Little Flying Squirrel in the Swamp

Courage is no longer an impulsive little tiger cub; it is as fast as the wind, indeed fast enough, but it can also sense that the direction is far away from their location.

It's so far away that even at its full speed, it would take a very long time.

At the same time, all beings that broke through to level five sensed the changes in the Arctic, and countless beings abandoned their current affairs and hurriedly headed towards the Arctic.

The spirit beasts and superhumans were somewhat rational enough to abandon the long-distance pursuit. But the mindless mutants and sea beasts rushed forward, heading towards the same destination.

Of course, Lin Qian was unaware of these circumstances. He and Yongqi had already ventured deep into the southern lands and would soon reach the area near the coast.

Dawn faded quickly under the sunlight, a new day dawned, and the heat dispelled the noise of the night.

The tiger's dry paws were soaked by the muddy water, and the dirty black mud made Lin Qian squint in disgust; the smell of the mud was just too pungent.

However, compared to the muddy silt, this huge swamp was what Lin Qian cared about the most.

Swamps are a normal phenomenon in nature, but in today's temperature environment, their existence is not so normal.

It's important to know that temperatures these days can reach as high as 100 degrees Celsius, but most of the time daytime temperatures stay between 70 and 80 degrees Celsius. Under such terrible temperatures, it's impossible for moisture to survive outdoors.

Along the way, Lin Qian and Yong Qi also encountered swampy areas, but those swamps had all dried up, the silt cracked into chunks, and there was no moisture at all.

Courage suddenly stopped, sniffed the air, and exclaimed, "Aww!" Something was approaching.

After saying that, Courage's tiger eyes showed excitement. Most of the animals it had encountered along the way were ordinary and small in size. It hadn't hunted in a long time, and it hoped that the animals that came would not disappoint it.

"Shh—" As the subtle sound of the reeds rustling drew closer, the newcomer finally approached Lin Qian and Yongqi.

"Hai Xiu!!"

Two white figures suddenly shot towards them. Lin Qian and Qiong raised their claws to block, and the two furry creatures were sent flying.

With a swift kick, Yongqi pinned the overturned attacker to the ground, while the other darted into the reeds and disappeared from sight.

Lin Qian didn't care; it was more curious now about what kind of animal dared to attack them.

Courage couldn't wait to pry open its captured prey. The attacker was quite large, about the size of a tiger before the earthquake, showing that this thing had evolved quite well.

Its large, moist eyes were very lively. It looked at the huge tiger and growled softly, as if begging for mercy. Clearly, this creature was not a magical beast or a mutated animal.

Lin Qian looked at the furry creature in front of him with curiosity. The animal was large and resembled a feline, with a fluffy long tail that was longer than its body. It was this creature's tail that had attacked them earlier.

It has short, thick, fluffy, and soft fur. There are no black tufts of hair above the ears. The back fur is dark brown, and the belly fur is deep orange-red. The head and cheeks are light brownish-grey, with a light red spot on the inside of the ear and an orange-red ring around the eyes.

What's most unique is that it has a diamond-shaped black pattern on its forehead and a black ridge on its back, making it look extremely appealing.

Lin Qian examined it for a long time but still couldn't recognize what kind of animal it was; it seemed that it had never seen such an animal before.

"Mmm..."

As the tiger's jaws approached its neck, the creature was terrified and let out a whimpering plea for mercy. Clearly, it knew its life or death was in the tiger's hands.

This animal that has changed so much is a small flying squirrel. Normal small flying squirrels belong to the genus Sciuridae in the family Sciuridae of the order Rodentia. They like to eat fruits and tender leaves with high sugar content, are nocturnal, move lightly, and have strong jumping ability.

The flying squirrel is a medium-sized bird, measuring 450 mm in length and weighing about 576 grams. It likes to fly with its gliding wings spread, and is also known as the flying squirrel.

The little flying squirrel's tail is longer than its body, and its tail fur is fluffy, which remains unchanged.

But clearly, this little flying squirrel is no longer what it used to be; its size has evolved dozens of times, from the size of a house cat to the size of a tiger.

Of course, this situation is not uncommon. Lin Qian and Yongqi encountered many animals along the way whose size had changed drastically. Many of them were originally small animals, probably wanting to enhance their own survival ability, which is why they subconsciously desired to change their physique.

After all, in the animal kingdom, size often represents strength.

"Awooo!" Brother, this is a level two spirit beast, should we eat it?

Seeing that its brother was not speaking, Yongqi became a little anxious. It hadn't eaten spirit beast meat in a long time. Although this was only a newly evolved level two spirit beast, its size was still too big!

The tiger paw pressed against the thick fur and stood on tiptoe. Wow, so much meat! This guy is enough for them to have a good meal!

"Woo-woo—" Upon hearing the meaning of courage, the little flying squirrel immediately cried out in fright. It knew that the creature in front of it was also a spirit beast, so it desperately begged for mercy.

I should have known better than to come over! If it weren't for those wretched earthworms, they wouldn't have attacked without even looking!

Lin Qian thought for a moment and then told Yongqi to release the little flying squirrel.

"Awooo!" Why did you attack us just now?

This is what puzzled Lin Qian. Although his and Yongqi's auras were enveloped by Fengliu and did not leak out, even though these two were only level two spirit beasts, he could still vaguely sense that they were spirit beasts when he got close to them. Why would they be so foolish as to directly attack spirit beasts that were larger than themselves?

At this point, the little flying squirrel felt wronged. When they came over, they didn't even look at the newcomers and attacked instantly, which is why it ended up like this.
