Chapter 61 Its Luck

Once you cross this long, dense forest and climb over that high mountain, you'll see the forest where it was born.

It was born there, grew up healthy under its mother's meticulous care, and was given half of its mother's territory upon reaching adulthood.

Unfortunately, the forest became increasingly barren, forcing it to embark on a solitary journey in search of a new home.

Throughout its life, it has traversed mountains and valleys, and also fought with its own kind.

It has preyed on countless animals, accumulating rich hunting experience as it grows up and gradually mastering the skills. Those were the happiest times for it.

It finally found a safe and lush forest to settle down in, and then went into heat, mated, and raised its offspring.

She was once the queen of the forest and a wonderful mother.

But the mortal body cannot escape birth, aging, sickness and death. As it grows older and its strength declines, it is no longer as strong and beautiful as it was in its youth.

Fortunately, it was lucky enough.

They were not preyed upon by their own kind in the cruelty of the forest, nor were they killed by other predators due to old age and weakness.

Furthermore, it has powerful offspring who cherish family ties, and in its old age, it can still receive prey from its children from time to time; otherwise, it would probably have died on the hunt long ago.

It's already lucky that it has lived this long.

Tiger Dad looked at his mother's back and hesitated, wanting to follow, but instinct told him not to.

Only when the old tigress's figure gradually disappeared into the woods did the father tiger slowly come back to his senses.

Looking at the dense forest, Tiger Dad felt a surge of sadness. This feeling made him uncomfortable and angry, but he had no way to vent it.

Even when it returned from its wanderings, defeated its father, seized the throne, and drove away its aging father, it didn't feel this way.

It simply followed the rules of its race, fulfilling the desires of its bloodline.

But now, it felt less like a wild animal...

Lin Qian was unaware of the changes in Tiger Dad.

In the dead of night, it heard the distant roar of its father tiger.

Sadness, anger, depression... a mix of emotions.

Hearing the tiger's roar, Tiger Mom's eyes showed a hint of worry, but it quickly disappeared.

Next, Lin Qian could hear tiger roars coming from the distant mountains and forests; it was Tiger Dad's voice.

Lin Qian sensed the meaning behind the tiger's roar, and then looked at the tiger mother who only occasionally showed a hint of worry.

Only then did he realize that the old tigress was "Grandma".

Tiger Dad's lamentations lasted for three days.

For three days, the mountains trembled, and the animals were uneasy and fearful. They trembled under the tiger's roar, and all the animals became more cautious, fearing that they would lose their lives if they were not careful.

Upon noticing that Tiger Roar had disappeared, Lin Qian knew that Tiger Dad's "funeral" was over.

The old tigress may still be alive, but the father tigress has indeed had his funeral.

(The author is unsure if all tigers behave this way, but in a documentary video, a female tiger, after learning that her mate had left/died, refused to eat or drink and let out mournful roars for three consecutive days.)

So, tigers have feelings too!

Although Tiger Roar disappeared, Lin Qian began to worry about Tiger Dad.

The three consecutive days of mourning were enough to show how heartbroken the tiger dad was.

Just as Lin Qian was feeling worried, Tiger Dad appeared that evening.

The mighty, striped tiger looked exhausted, like a wounded beast, its entire body filled with an atmosphere of sorrow.

Tiger Mom stepped forward and gently comforted her spouse.

Lin Qian quickly ran forward and rubbed against Tiger Dad, hoping that her small body could bring him comfort.

Courage also rubbed against Tiger Dad, and the little tiger cub was making low whimpering sounds, as if it was comforting Tiger Dad.

Perhaps it was the tender affection of his wife and children that worked, as Tiger Dad regained a lot of energy. He nuzzled Tiger Mom, licked his two sons again, and then fell fast asleep.

Lin Qian and Yongqi did not leave Tiger Dad's embrace. The two little ones curled up in Tiger Dad's arms, snuggling close to the big tiger and dozing off.

Tiger Mom looked tenderly at the father and his three sons, then gently turned and left.

Night had fallen, and it was time to go hunting.

Tiger Dad stayed in this little house for three days, and then left full of energy.

The mother and her three cubs continued their quiet life by the pond, while Lin Qian became even more diligent in training his hunting skills.

In late summer and early autumn, the tiger cub, now six months old and nine months old, decides to hunt down truly large prey.

Lin Qian didn't go with Yongqi this time; the two brothers' tacit understanding was excellent, and their cooperative hunting was indeed more likely to succeed.

But they are tigers after all, and fighting alone is their natural strength.

Lin Qian couldn't predict what the future held, so ensuring that he and Yongqi had a strong enough ability to protect themselves was the top priority.

So, as soon as evening fell, the mother tiger came out to hunt, and Lin Qian bravely followed her, saying that the mother and her two cubs would hunt separately.

The tiger mother initially had some concerns, but now the cubs are strong enough to protect themselves. Even if they encounter danger, she can quickly come to their aid if they call out.

So, under Lin Qian's persistence, courage, and excited gaze, Tiger Mom agreed.

Lin Qian walked slowly, searching for his target in the forest.

Hunting requires luck and patience, and the process of finding prey is an even longer test.

However, Lin Qian was lucky today. After walking only two kilometers, he saw a small group of deer grazing a hundred meters ahead.

The red deer, also known as the European red deer, eight-pronged deer, or red deer, is a large deer species, second only to the moose. It measures approximately 180 cm in length, with a shoulder height of 110-130 cm. Adult males weigh around 200 kg, while females weigh around 150 kg.

Red deer have dark brown bodies with some white spots on their backs and sides.

Among them, male deer have very large antlers, generally with six to eight tines, and some can have nine to ten tines, with the second tine of the antler close to the brow tine. Female deer have no antlers.

The six adult red deer, none of which had antlers, were clearly females.

Male red deer are mostly solitary, while females travel in pairs. Male red deer only travel with females during the rutting season.

This herd of red deer was without any males, which suited Lin Qian's wishes perfectly.

Unfortunately, there were no baby deer.

Lin Qian looked at the robust herd of red deer and hesitated.

Although the intention was to try hunting large prey, starting with something this big seems a bit too difficult...

But if they were to search for prey again, it would take an unknown amount of time, and there was no guarantee that they would even find prey.

After thinking it over, Lin Qian decided to give it a try. Even if he failed, so what? The female deer couldn't hurt him at all.

Looking at the enormous body of the deer, Lin Qian couldn't help but swallow hard.

This is from craving!

If they could catch just one, that would be enough to feed a whole family of tigers for two or three days!

He lowered his breathing, crouched down, looked for cover, and quietly approached the herd of deer.

These red deer were happily grazing, completely unaware that their plump bodies were being watched.
