Chapter 14 They Came Here

Zhang Qinghong sighed and slapped the two colleagues in the air, "Ye Honglian, Wang Aixiang, where are you two going?"

Then he turned back to look at Lin Chaoyang and said, "Don't listen to their nonsense. You just got here. I want to get to know you better."

Lin Chaoyang's heart moved, and he smiled at her, "It's okay, Sister Hong, there's nothing I can't tell you. My family situation is complicated, so I don't plan to find a partner for the time being."

Zhang Qinghong became interested. "Xiao Lin, if you have any difficulties, tell us. Maybe we can help you solve them."

Lin Chaoyang shook his head. "This problem is not easy to solve. My parents are gone, and I have a younger brother who is only four years old. I have to raise him to adulthood."

The three older sisters couldn't help but show expressions of surprise, yet also some sympathy.

Wang Aixiang was straightforward and blurted out, "Then why is there such a big age difference between you and your brother?"

One of them is already working and earning money, and the other is only four years old. It is rare to see brothers with such a big age difference.

Lin Chaoyang seemed a little embarrassed. He sighed and repeated what he had said to Lao Guo.

The three older sisters shook their heads and said, Xiaolin is such a miserable child!

Zhang Qinghong comforted him, "Now it's all right. Now that you've come to work at our coal mine, you can live a good life in the future."

Lin Chaoyang smiled bitterly and shook his head, "My three brothers and sisters are not easy to deal with. I guess they will come to make trouble in two days."

"When the time comes, it will definitely cause trouble for leaders and colleagues."

Lin Chaoyang said this with a look of shame on his face, which made the three older sisters feel distressed.

"Don't worry, this matter is up to you, Sister Hong. If you dare to make trouble, I will scold you to death!"

"That's right! If you dare to come, I will help you scold!"

The three older sisters were warm-hearted. Lin Chaoyang thanked them and asked, "Sister, I want to ask you something. Do we have to pay to eat in the cafeteria?"

Zhang Qinghong nodded. "It costs money, but no tickets are required. One person gets two taels of rice for five cents, and you can order as many dishes as you want. Meat dishes cost ten cents, and vegetarian dishes cost five cents."

Wang Aixiang added, "If you can bring your own food to the canteen, you don't have to spend money to buy rice."

Lin Chaoyang seemed relieved. "That's good. I was worried about the ticket. I came from the countryside and I really don't have any food coupons. I didn't bring any food with me. I left it all at home."

Ye Honglian sighed, "Xiao Lin, I'm not saying anything bad to you, but there's an old saying that goes, a little kindness pays off, a ton of rice pays grudge!"

"You just spoiled your brothers and sisters too much. They treated you like this, but you still left all the food for them."

Speaking of this, Lin Chaoyang's face darkened even more.

"Then I can't take the food away and watch them starve to death. After all, I'm the eldest brother."

"But I never thought that the food I left for you would become your enemy."

Zhang Qinghong was indignant. "You can feed several mouths when you are in your teens, but can't we earn work points to support ourselves?"

"If you ask me, you should think more about yourself and save some money to marry a wife. Otherwise, who will take care of you in the future?"

Lin Chaoyang smiled embarrassedly, "I haven't thought about it that much. Let's take care of my little brother first. He didn't have a good life at home."

When the three older sisters heard this, they felt moved in their hearts. Xiao Lin was really good, but it was a pity that he had to deal with such brothers and sisters.

It was soon time to get off work at noon, and Lin Chaoyang had to hurry back to the dormitory to take Lin Chaoxing out for lunch.

I just came to work and I don’t dare to leave my post at will. I don’t know how Lin Chaoxing is doing in the dormitory.

When Lin Chaoyang returned to the dormitory and opened the door, he saw Lin Chaoxing sitting obediently on the bed and simply making the bed.

“Brother!”

As soon as he saw Lin Chaoyang coming back, Lin Chaoxing immediately smiled.

Then he quickly climbed out of bed and ran to Lin Chaoyang, "Brother, I need to pee!"

Lin Chaoyang quickly took her to the toilet, feeling a little guilty.

You can't go back to the dormitory during working hours, and Lin Chaoxing is obedient. He doesn't leave the room at all, not even to go to the toilet.

Looking at the top of Lin Chaoxing's head, Lin Chaoyang thought, why not send her to kindergarten, it would be better than waiting for her alone in the dormitory.

In the afternoon, Lin Chaoyang started asking several older sisters in the office.

"Kindergarten? We have one in our coal mine! It's free! I'll take you there tomorrow!"

After Zhang Qinghong's enthusiastic introduction, Lin Chaoyang learned that there was a kindergarten for employees' children in the coal mine.

This kindergarten is free of tuition and its students are all children of mine workers, so it is considered a family benefit.

Lin Chaoyang was very happy. The welfare of this coal mine was really good. Even the children didn’t have to pay for going to kindergarten.

Although I am not short of money now, I try to save as much as possible because I still want to do business with the money.

But speaking of making money, I think of the job placement test in a month.

I don't know how the exam is conducted. My cultural level is not high, so I don't know if I can pass the procurement department.

There are still not enough opportunities to make money in a county. If you can become a purchasing agent, you will have more ways to go.

After a few more days, Lin Chaoyang gradually adapted to the work in the mine.

I was quite surprised that those ungrateful people didn't come to the mine to cause trouble.

There was really no food left at home, and we thought we would not be able to hold on for more than two days.

That day, Zhang Qinghong brought up the topic mysteriously.

"Hey, the mine is going to distribute housing again, did you know?"

Wang Aixiang groaned, "How could I not know? Several groups of people have come to me to reserve my ticket."

Ye Honglian also nodded, "Someone has come to me and asked me to vote for you, but the list hasn't come out yet."

Zhang Qinghong looked at Lin Chaoyang and sighed, "Xiao Lin is still the best. He's new here and doesn't know anyone. No one asks him to vote."

Lin Chaoyang was a little confused. “What does housing allocation have to do with voting?”

Zhang Qinghong explained, "When we distribute housing in our mine, the leaders first draw up a list of names, and then the workers vote, and those with the most votes get a house."

Lin Chaoyang understood that the housing allocation also depends on one’s popularity.

As they were talking, Director Li came in.

"Comrade Lin Chaoyang, the real estate department is short of staff. Please go and help out for a few days."

Lin Chaoyang quickly stood up and followed Director Li.

When we arrived at the real estate department, there were quite a few people inside, all pointing at the names on the blackboard.

Lin Chaoyang was a newcomer, so he just helped with chores, sorted out some information, and listened from the side.

It has nothing to do with the opposition. As a single young person, you are not eligible to get a house.

But since 놛 went to work as a handyman in the real estate department, more and more people greet 놛 every day.

They all came to ask 놛 about housing allocation, and some even came to get close to 놛 and ask him to help them vote.

I just got off work here, and an aunt was talking to me, and over there a little kid ran over.

"Comrade Lin Chaoyang! Your brothers and sisters are here to see you!"
