Chapter 6 Heavy Rain

By the time Lin Chaoyang got home from work at noon, the wild vegetable soup was already cooked.

But there weren't many wild vegetables, so I only cooked a pot of light green soup.

The meal was cooked by Lin Chaoyun. She looked at the pot of soup which was not filling at all and her face did not look very good.

Lin Chaoyang thought about it and took out some brown rice.

If he really didn't take out any of it, he wouldn't be able to set up the stove.

With so many eyes watching me, I'd be in trouble if I got discovered.

Lin Chaoyang grabbed a handful of brown rice and put it into the pot, simmered it for a while, and mixed it with wild vegetables to make a pot of wild vegetable porridge.

It's called porridge, but in fact it's just rice soup. You can't even scoop up a few grains of rice with one spoon.

Lin Chaoyang took the bowl, scooped a bowl for himself first, and then scooped a bowl with more rice grains for Lin Chaoxing.

"You two can eat the rest. Don't worry about Lin Chaoyu. It's okay for him to go hungry for two meals."

Lin Chaoyun and Lin Chaoxia had no objection to this. Lin Chaoyu should be punished for stealing.

As the four of them were eating, Lin Chaoyu in the room started crying again, but her voice was much quieter.

The rice soup he drank before didn't fill him up, and now he was too hungry to have any strength left.

He desperately wanted to eat something, but no one paid any attention to him.

Lin Chaoyang acted as if he didn't hear it and went to rest after dinner.

When work ended in the evening, another pot of wild vegetable porridge was prepared, but it was thinner than the one at noon.

Lin Chaoyang himself was so exhausted from eating that if he hadn't had an extra meal in the afternoon, he wouldn't have been able to work.

Just as they were about to start eating, Lin Chaoxing spoke cautiously.

"Brother, please send some food to Fourth Brother. Fourth Brother didn't eat lunch."

Lin Chaoyang touched his brother's head and sighed.

Seeing that his elder brother had no objection, Lin Chaoyun stood up on his own initiative, scooped a bowl of rice soup and brought it out.

Lin Chaoyang glanced at her back and felt that there seemed to be something different about her.

But he didn't think much about it, and after dinner he and his brother went to sleep together.

The next morning, Lin Chaoyang was awakened by the sound of rain.

I opened the window and saw that it was raining heavily, almost like a rainstorm.

In this kind of weather, without notification, everyone knows that it is not possible to work.

Lin Chaoyang turned around and lay back on the bed. It was too late to go to work or get up early, and he was not going to work anyway.

The other two sisters thought so too. They didn't have to work anyway, so they wouldn't starve to death if they didn't work hard and skipped a meal.

But Lin Chaoyang didn't treat himself badly. He ate a steamed bun while his younger brother was still asleep.

One steamed bun was not enough to fill Lin Chaoyang up, but he didn't plan to eat too much at every meal.

Everyone was short of food these days, and there was not a single fat person in the entire commune.

His family was already so poor, if he was the only one who ate so much and was fat, others would definitely think something was wrong.

And my younger brother, even though he seldom goes out and others can't see him, he still has to be a little bit careful.

There are three other pairs of eyes at home. If they find something wrong, they will definitely not let it go.

With the temperaments of these three ungrateful people, Lin Chaoyang will definitely get into huge trouble.

Lin Chaoyang now only regrets that he was reborn too late.

If I were to be reborn back to the time when my parents had just passed away, it would be easiest to just give all three of them away.

But it's too late to say more now, I can only do nothing but wait.

Having nothing to do at home, Lin Chaoyang started to think about the abundant supplies.

He could eat all the food in the supermarket by himself in his lifetime.

Even with my younger brother, there are more than enough for two people.

He thought, could he sell some of it and make some money to save for a bigger benefit in the future?

Lin Chaoyang had never read much in his life, but he had experienced a lot and knew the importance of money.

If he could make money by reselling a batch of supplies at this time, he could make more money from this money in the future.

Now that he is reborn, he doesn't want to be poor like before, he wants to be rich.

If he had money, he would not have gotten seriously ill due to overwork, and he would have had a good life.

As he was thinking about it, Lin Chaoyang decided to take a risk and find some time to go to the county town to try to sell some rice, flour, etc.

It's a pity that it rained so heavily today, otherwise he would have wanted to go and try it right away.

I thought the heavy rain would not last long, but it didn't stop until the afternoon.

Lin Chaoyang looked at the rain outside the window and couldn't help frowning.

It’s raining so heavily. If it keeps falling like this, the crops in the fields will be killed.

If the crops were killed by the water at this time, the people in their village would really starve to death.

Lin Chaoyang's worry grew heavier as the rain continued to fall.

The next morning, he woke up in a daze and heard the sound of rain. He felt inexplicably panicked.

He put on his clothes and was about to go out for a look when the village loudspeaker sounded.

"Comrades of the brigade! Gather in the fields quickly! Drain the fields! Protect the crops!"

When Lin Chaoyang heard this, he knew something was wrong. The land must have been severely flooded.

He couldn't help but think back to his past life, as if nothing like this had ever happened.

There was no time to think too much now. Lin Chaoyang put on his straw raincoat and hat and hurried to the field.

When he arrived at the field, the situation was more serious than Lin Chaoyang had expected.

The crop seedlings in the field were almost completely soaked in water, and many people were scooping water with basins and gourd ladles.

Some laborers were digging temporary ditches to divert the water away.

Lin Chaoyang also quickly rolled up his trouser legs, picked up a gourd ladle and tried to scoop water.

But the rain kept on falling, not only were the fields flooded, but the low-lying houses were also flooded.

The captain was so anxious that his eyes turned red. If this continued, all the crops in the field would be ruined!

Some people have already wiped away their tears. The seedlings were growing well and people had just started to have some hope, why did it become like this?

Lin Chaoyang looked at all this and felt cold in his heart.

He was sure that such a thing had never happened in his life, and there was no such rainstorm this year.

The opportunity he had gained after being reborn was destroyed, and he no longer knew what to do next.

But now is not the time to think about these things. The biggest problem now is, how to live the rest of the day?

His superannuation is enough to ensure that his family has no worries about food and clothing, but the risk is too great.

Lin Chaoyang didn't dare to take this risk, nor could he take this risk.

When everyone is hungry, you eat so much that your face is rosy, and your end will be terrible.

Lin Chaoyang had heard some stories about famine times from the older generation, and he didn't dare to risk his life.

But he could take this opportunity to go to the county town to resell some grain and accumulate some money.

Lin Chaoyang thought for a long time and finally made up his mind.

During these difficult days, the family tried to save as much as possible and must not let others see that they had no food to eat.

After that, there would probably be no need for laborers, so he would go to the county town a few more times to sell the grain.
