"This humble servant greets the General."
Upon entering the tent and seeing Zhang Qiao in his general's seat, Ma Yi's personal guards quickly stepped forward to pay their respects.
"Hmm~ What brings Ma Yi here?"
Zhang Qiao sized the man up and down. Although the man had an ordinary appearance and did not seem like a fierce and brave person, the glint of shrewdness that occasionally flashed in his eyes revealed that he was a quick-witted person.
"General Zhang, my wealthy family has asked me to deliver a message to you..."
Then, Ma Yi's personal guards methodically relayed Ma Yi's instructions to Zhang Qiao in detail.
"Heh~ This Ma Yi is quite sensible!"
Zhang Qiao smiled and did not expose Ma Yi's little scheme.
Then Zhang Qiao looked at Ma Yi's personal guard and asked, "What's your name?"
"Replying to the general, I have no name. My master has always called me Ah Shan."
Zhang Qiao nodded. "I see that you speak quite clearly and logically. Have you been to school?"
"No!"
Ah Shan shook his head and said, "I just often hear my master and the guard Qian talking, so I've picked up a bit of their conversation."
"Ha~ You can learn to compose poetry on your own just by listening to people talk, and you can even use poetry to pinpoint the hiding places of my soldiers. You're really something!"
Zhang Qiao raised an eyebrow and looked at the other person with a smile. Although his words were ostensibly praise, they carried a hint of something else.
"Uh... General, if I were to say that it was all made up by me, that it was all just a coincidence, would you believe me?"
Ah Shan was also at a loss for words, because everything that had happened before was just too coincidental. He had only been imitating Qian Lai's usual way of speaking, wanting to show off in front of his two subordinates.
But who would have thought that the poem he had painstakingly written, which he only thought could hide people in the grass, would actually contain people. He felt that he couldn't explain it all.
Zhang Qiao smiled and shook his head, "Whether others believe it or not, I certainly don't!"
"That scoundrel has absolutely nothing to say!"
Seeing that Zhang Qiao didn't believe him, A Shan's expression turned bitter, and he stood still without saying a word.
"If you don't want to talk, I won't force you. But since your family wants to join me in eliminating those rebels, someone needs to act as a liaison."
Then Zhang Qiao looked at the other person and said casually, "Why don't you stay here for now?"
"General Zhang...this humble one..."
Upon hearing Zhang Qiao's words, Ma Yi's personal guard became anxious. He immediately realized that Zhang Qiao was planning to detain him here.
"Alright, take him down to rest first, and treat him well!"
Before the other party could speak, Zhang Qiao interrupted him and then ordered his two personal guards to take Ma Yi away.
Then Zhang Qiao looked at the sergeant and said in a deep voice, "Go tell the two men he brought that they go back and tell Ma Yi that I agree to join forces with Ma Yi to quell the rebellion. After it's done, he must obediently hand over the ten billion coins!"
"promise!"
The squad leader accepted the order and then turned to walk out of the tent.
"Captain...you..."
Outside the tent, the two men that Ashan brought saw their captain walk out of the tent and were about to go up to greet him when they were stopped by two Han soldiers who were following closely behind.
Seeing the anxious looks on his two men's faces, A-Sanshan smiled and said, "I'm fine! General Zhang just invited me to be a guest here!"
"Alright, enough talk, let's go!"
Seeing that Ah Shan had stopped, Zhang Qiao's two bodyguards urged him on.
"Okay!"
Ah Shan quickly agreed, not daring to linger any longer. He glanced at his two men before being escorted to the rear of the military camp.
Ah Shan's two men stood there, stunned and at a loss.
Soon the squad leader came out, looked at the two men, and then told them Zhang Qiao's instructions.
After saying that, the platoon leader looked at them and asked, "Have you remembered it clearly?"
The two nodded quickly, "We understand!"
"Now that you've remembered it clearly, why aren't you leaving? Are you waiting for us to treat you to a meal?"
Seeing the two men still standing there, the squad leader's face darkened, and he looked at them with icy eyes.
One of Ashan's men glanced cautiously at the squad leader, then asked in a low voice, "Uh... may I ask, sir, do you know who our captain is?"
The sergeant's expression shifted, and he glanced at the two men with surprise. To have such loyal subordinates, it seemed that this Ah Shan was indeed extraordinary.
Then the platoon leader said in a deep voice, "Your captain will be fine. Go back and tell your man that since it's a cooperation, there needs to be a liaison. Once the battle is over, we will naturally let him go back!"
"this....."
Seeing the two hesitant men, the squad leader glared at them and said coldly, "Huh? Do you expect me to send you back?"
"No, no... I'll go back right away!"
The two then exchanged a glance and, escorted by several Han soldiers, reluctantly left the Han army camp.
After traveling all night, Ashan's two men returned to the tribe the next morning and met Ma Yi.
"Huh? Where's your captain?"
Seeing that only Ah Shan's two men had returned, Ma Yi looked at them with suspicion.
"Reporting to the Great Lord, the Han army says they need to leave the captain there temporarily to keep in touch with you."
"I see!"
Ma Yi nodded, seemingly unconcerned about the detention of his personal guards, and instead asked, "What did Zhang Qiao say?"
