Chapter 571 The Parchment Scroll

As the Xianbei cavalry charged in, the entire Jie tribe was thrown into chaos.

Although the Jie people who were armed fought back, they were powerless to resist the elite Xianbei cavalry led by Tan Shihuai.

In a short time, thousands of Jie men died under the scimitars of the Xianbei.

In an instant, the Jie people in the tribe were so terrified by the killing that they all turned and fled.

Unfortunately, Xianbei cavalry surrounded them from all four directions, leaving them with no way out, neither to heaven nor to hell.

For a time, fear and despair filled the hearts of all the Capricorns.

"God... please save us!"

Among the Jie people, an old man dressed in a coarse cloth robe with white hair and beard knelt facing west, holding a scroll of sheepskin scriptures, and prayed with sobs.

The Jie people beside the old man also knelt down and prayed, muttering incantations.

The armed Jie people quickly surrounded them, protecting the kneeling Jie people in the middle.

"Huh? What are they doing?"

Tan Shihuai frowned as he looked at the old man kneeling in prayer and the Jie people.

"Judging from their appearance, it seems they are performing a ritual...?"

Han Sui also came to Tan Shihuai's side and said somewhat uncertainly.

"Hmph~, when attacked by the enemy, they don't even think of resisting, but instead kneel down to worship. How many scimitars of their gods can withstand my Xianbei warriors?"

Seeing the Jie people kneeling on the ground with pious expressions, Tan Shihuai snorted and looked down on them.

Immediately, Tan Shihuai spurred his horse forward, looked at the remaining Jie people who were still armed, and shouted:

"Lay down your weapons, and those who surrender will not be killed!!"

Those who surrender will not be killed!

The surrounding Xianbei cavalry also rushed forward, raising their scimitars and shouting in unison.

Hearing the thunderous shouts of the Xianbei cavalry, the Jie people, though terrified, still gripped their weapons tightly and refused to put them down.

"Um?"

Seeing that the Jie people remained unmoved, Tan Shihua frowned, then took out his bow and arrow and drew the bowstring taut.

With a whoosh, the arrow flew out and pierced straight into the neck of a Jie man.

Seeing the blood gurgling from the throat of their fallen comrade, the Jie soldiers standing nearby turned pale and couldn't help but take two steps back.

To lower or not to lower?

Tan Shihuai shouted a stern question, then drew his bow again and aimed at another Jie soldier.

"Clang!"

Faced with the threat of death, the Jie man trembled violently, his grip loosened, and the weapon in his hand fell to the ground.

"And you...?"

Tan Shihuai sneered and aimed his bow and arrow at another person.

"We are willing to surrender!!"

With someone taking the lead, the Jie people stopped holding out, threw down their weapons, and knelt on the ground, their faces ashen.

"Search them! Men, women, children—tie them all up! Don't let a single one escape!"

At Tan Shihuai's command, the Xianbei soldiers cheered and then dispersed, rushing into their respective tents.

For a time, the entire tribe was filled with the cries of women and children, as well as the unrestrained laughter of Xianbei soldiers.

Tan Shihuai then led his men to the group of worshippers.

Seeing these people muttering to themselves and seemingly unmoved by their surroundings, Tan Shihuai frowned.

He couldn't imagine how deluded and fanatical these worshippers must have been to be so indifferent, turning a blind eye to the plight of their fellow tribesmen.

Looking at these people, Tan Shihuai couldn't help but feel a chill. He instantly realized that these people were the root of the trouble and could not be allowed to live.

Then Tan Shihuai said coldly, "Execute all those who are worshipping!"

"promise!!"

The Xianbei soldiers around him responded loudly and charged towards the group of worshippers with their scimitars in hand.

The group of worshippers, facing the charging Xianbei soldiers, neither dodged nor resisted, letting the Xianbei soldiers' scimitars fall on their bodies.

Before long, hundreds of worshippers were killed.

"These people are really terrifying..."

Tan Shihuai looked solemnly at the Jie man lying in a pool of blood, sighing deeply.

Han Sui nodded in agreement: "Yes, I really don't know what they're worshipping..."

Tan Shihuai said in a deep voice, "No matter what it is, this kind of belief must never be allowed to spread to the grasslands..."

As he spoke, Tan Shihuai stepped forward and picked up the blood-stained parchment scroll.

Looking at the map on the parchment scroll, along with some symbols and characters he had never seen before, Tan Shihuai was slightly taken aback.

"Sir, can you read the writing on this?"

As they spoke, Tan Shihuai handed the parchment scroll to Han Sui, who was standing to the side.

"Huh? The script of the Roman Empire...?"

Looking at the text on the parchment scroll, Han Sui couldn't help but let out a soft exclamation.

"Could it be the Great Qin of the far west...? Then, sir, do you know what is recorded here? Is it about the Great Qin?"

Tan Shihuai's expression shifted, and he looked at Han Sui with curiosity.

He had also heard of this legendary Western empire.

Rumor has it that the Qin Dynasty's territory is so vast and its resources so abundant that it is in no way inferior to the Han Dynasty, which is why Tan Shihuai couldn't help but feel a little interested.

Han Sui gave a wry smile and shook his head: "My knowledge is shallow. I only feel that the writing on this sheepskin is somewhat similar to the Qin script, but I cannot know the specific content!"
