Upon seeing this, Kong Bao immediately got up and went to the door, shouting loudly, "People outside, could you give us some food?"
Upon hearing this, a guard carrying a wine jar staggered to the door, standing by the fire outside.
"What's all the fuss about? You're not going to starve to death if you skip a meal!"
Kong Bao said sternly, "Since my Kong family has already agreed to cooperate with your leaders, why should we be treated so humiliatingly? If you don't give us food today, we will not let this go easily in front of your leaders tomorrow!"
Just then, another guard stepped forward and said, "Never mind, it's just some food. Give it to them!"
The man nodded: "Okay, fine!"
Afterwards, several guards brought some food to the woodshed.
Kong Bao looked at Kong Rong and several young members of the Kong family and said with a smile, "Wenju, eat quickly, so you'll have the strength to escape!"
"Yes, Master!"
Kong Rong and several young men felt a lump in their throats, their eyes filled with tears, and each ate several large bowls of food.
After they had eaten their fill, Kong Rong and the others sat cross-legged, waiting anxiously.
Just before dawn, when it was darkest, Kong Rong got up and went to the window. Looking out, he saw that the guards outside had disappeared.
After observing for a moment and confirming that it was safe outside, Kong Rong and several young men quietly climbed out of the woodshed through the window. They then reached a courtyard wall, where they worked together to climb over and escape from the Kong family mansion.
After leaving the Confucius Mansion, Kong Rong and his companions did not linger and hurried towards a residential area.
As dawn broke, Lu Qing led several people to the woodshed.
A guard said in a panic, "Reporting to the leader, several members of the Kong family escaped last night!"
Lu Qing, however, said indifferently, "It doesn't matter, as long as Patriarch Kong is here!"
"Thank you so much, leader!!"
Seeing that Lu Qing had no intention of pursuing the matter, the guard quickly kowtowed to express his gratitude.
