The moment Yuan Shao stabbed the King of Guhu to death, the once noisy and bustling banquet hall was instantly filled with screams and wails.
Faced with the sudden attack from Dong Zhuo, Yan Liang, Xu Chu, and others, the forty noble officials in the hall were powerless to resist.
In just a few breaths, more than ten officials died under the swords of Dong Zhuo and his men.
Upon hearing the commotion, the dozen or so guards on duty outside the hall also rushed into the hall.
"Miaocai, Zhongkang, come with me!!"
Xiahou Dun, who was near the entrance of the hall, killed an official and then roared as he charged at the approaching guards.
"They're here!!"
Xiahou Yuan responded and quickly followed, with Xu Chu close behind.
Soon, the three of them were engaged in battle with more than a dozen guards who rushed in.
These three guys were known as the "Three Menaces" in Luoyang. They were always either fighting or on their way to fight. Being ganged up on was commonplace for them, and they could easily handle a dozen or so people.
After several years of training in the Imperial Guard and battles during the pacification of the southern barbarians, the three of them are now far more powerful than before, and their teamwork is now superb.
Xiahou Dun charged ahead, his sharp longsword moving with lightning speed. The blade sliced through the neck of a guard, and blood splattered onto Xiahou Dun's face.
Xiahou Yuan and Xu Chu stood back-to-back on either side of Xiahou Dun, continuously slaying the approaching soldiers.
Xu Chu, whose strength was no less than Dian Wei's, struck with his sword. At best, his head was decapitated; at worst, he was cut in half at the waist. None of the corpses at his feet were intact.
The three men formed a solid trio; after only a few exchanges, the dozen or so guards were reduced to just five.
Seeing Xiahou Dun and Xu Chu, who looked like demons from hell, the remaining five guards were terrified and turned to run away.
Meanwhile, the battle inside the hall was nearing its end. The remaining five noble officials hid in a corner, trembling as they watched Dong Zhuo and his men surround them.
"Please, please...please don't kill me! I'm willing to surrender and serve the Han Dynasty for generations!"
A young man dressed in a striped silk robe knelt down and kowtowed to Dong Zhuo and his men, begging for mercy.
Dong Zhuo grinned, revealing a sinister smile, "My great Han Dynasty doesn't need a spineless coward like you!"
Upon hearing this, the young man turned pale with fright and collapsed to the ground.
As he spoke, Dong Zhuo raised his long sword and slashed at the other man.
"Zhongying, wait a minute!!"
Just as the long sword was about to touch the opponent's neck, Yuan Shao shouted from behind and stopped Dong Zhuo.
Yuan Shao approached, carrying a long sword, and looked down at the young man with an indifferent expression.
"What's your name? What's your status? What's your official position?"
Upon hearing Yuan Shao's question, the young man quickly replied, "In reply to Your Excellency, my name is Hu, and I am the nephew of this King Hu. I currently serve as the commander of the royal guard."
Upon hearing Hu's identity, Yuan Shao's heart stirred, and his gaze toward the other man held a different kind of light.
Yuan Shao looked at Hu with a smile, his cold aura disappearing and replaced by a gentle and elegant demeanor.
"I ask you, are you willing to be the king of this lonely Hu kingdom?"
"Huh? What...what did you say?"
Hearing Yuan Shao's gentle voice, Hu was taken aback, wondering if his ears were broken.
Yuan Shao, still with a friendly expression, said, "I just asked you, would you be willing to become the king of this lonely Hu kingdom?"
"Gulp!"
Hu swallowed hard, looked up at Yuan Shao, and then nodded blankly.
Seeing Hu nod, Yuan Shao's smile widened, and then he turned to look at the four officials huddled in the corner.
"Why aren't you paying your respects to your new king?"
"Your Majesty, we, your humble servants, pay our respects!"
Upon hearing Yuan Shao's words, the officials who had survived the ordeal immediately prostrated themselves on the ground and bowed to Hu.
Upon seeing this, Yuan Shao gestured to Dong Zhuo and the others, signaling them to put away their long swords.
"Quickly, quickly, protect the emperor!!"
Suddenly, a cacophony of noise and footsteps filled the air outside.
It turned out that the five escaped soldiers had alerted a large contingent of troops inside the palace, who then rushed over upon hearing the news.
Upon seeing the guards running towards the hall, Yuan Shao calmly sheathed his sword and looked at Hu.
"Let's go, let's go take a look!"
"Yes, angel!"
Hu agreed and followed Yuan Shao to the entrance of the hall, stopping behind Xiahou Dun and the others.
"Commander, what is this...?"
The guard officer leading the group looked at the corpses in the hall and then looked at Hu with a puzzled expression.
Before Hu could speak, Yuan Shao said, "The former King of Hu framed loyal officials and attempted to kill your commander. We stepped in to help your commander kill the former King."
Now, your leader has become the new king.
"What……?"
Upon hearing this, the guard officer's expression changed, and he looked at Hu with a puzzled expression.
"The Great Han Angel is right, everything is fine here now, you may all leave!"
Hu Qiang calmly acknowledged Yuan Shao's words, then waved to the guard officer.
"yes!!"
The guard officer didn't ask any more questions and led his men away from the area.
These Han generals, covered in blood, are clearly not to be trifled with; it would be best to avoid conflict.
