Yi Chenli never liked to meddle in other people's business, so he didn't ask any questions and walked straight past the guards.
The guard lifted Long San up again and carried him forward, muttering, "Third brother, you're really unlucky this time. Lord An doesn't usually punish people so severely. You've just run into his line of fire."
Yi Chenli had excellent hearing; even though they were some distance apart, he could still hear some of it.
A fleeting thought.
What could possibly anger An Chaoli so much?
Although subconsciously Yi Chenli felt it was unlikely, his body still honestly turned back.
The guards were so frightened by the return of the sixth prince that their legs went weak.
The stretcher wasn't lifted properly and it was thrown heavily to the ground.
Long San, who was lying on a stretcher, had a close encounter with the ground with his badly injured body. With a loud "bang", he fell and was in a lot of pain.
Long San let out a painful cry.
But the others were kneeling on the ground, trembling, thinking they had done something wrong, and had no time to care about him.
"Sixth Prince...this humble servant..."
Yi Chenli rarely smiled and always had a cold expression, which made the soldiers instinctively feel somewhat afraid.
Yi Chenli was unusually impatient and interrupted the soldier to ask directly, "Why did Lord An punish Long San?"
The soldier lowered his head, trembling as he said, "Lord An has ordered someone to keep me silent, and I don't know the specific reason clearly. I only vaguely heard that Miss An, missing her father dearly, came to the camp to see Lord An. Guard Long San was blind and offended the young lady, that's why...that's why..."
Yi Chenli only heard that Miss An Si had come to the camp, and his first thought was that Yuan Gun Gun must have come to find him.
While the soldier was still standing there in a daze, Yi Chenli had already disappeared from the spot like a gust of wind.
The soldier was in a daze, as if he were dreaming. If it weren't for Long San's wailing beside him, he wouldn't have believed that the person who had just spoken to him was the Sixth Prince.
As for Lord An's tent, An Chaoli made up a bed for his daughter and prepared to sleep on the floor himself.
"I'll go back tomorrow after I wake up."
An Yuan'er couldn't escape under her father's nose; her father's words were very harsh.
Disappointment slowly accumulated, and An Yuan'er was about to give up. She replied helplessly, "I understand."
She pulled the small blanket off the bed and walked to the floor: "Father is kind and daughter is filial. Father sleeps on the bed, and Yuan'er sleeps on the floor."
Father is getting old, and An Yuan'er knows that his back is not good. The floor is cold and not suitable for the elderly.
“You silly girl, you’ve always had the best of everything and slept in the best of everything. This camp is tough, but you insisted on coming here. Now you’re going to suffer. Even if your father is in a bad situation, he wouldn’t let a girl like you sleep on the floor.” An Chaoli put the quilt back on the bed for An Yuan’er, but then he heard a voice outside the tent.
"Greetings, Sixth Prince."
"Lord An has probably already retired for the night."
Yi Chenli glanced at the two guards indifferently. No one was ever stationed at Lord An's gate, but now there were more guards.
There must be something strange about anything that happens out of the ordinary.
"Get out." Yi Chenli ordered the guards to leave, ignoring any attempts to stop him, and wheeled himself inside.
An Yuan'er heard the sound of a wheelchair and was overjoyed. Could it be...?
She threw the pillow aside and dashed toward the door.
Just then, An Yuan'er bumped into Yi Chenli, who was walking in.
Finally seeing the person she had been longing for, An Yuan'er excitedly rushed into Yi Chenli's arms, nuzzled his face with her head, and said in a soft, coquettish voice, "Ali, Ali, Yuan'er missed you so much!"
"I've finally met you." It was so difficult to see you, so An Yuan'er was unusually clingy.
