Chapter 455 Laughter and Joy

Before his hand could even touch him, a sudden, strong force struck Wan Fugui's hand in mid-air, leaving it red and swollen.

More importantly, the person who hit him did so quickly that Wan Fugui didn't even see who hit him.

He looked around, searching for anyone suspicious.

His gaze lingered on Yi Chenli in the wheelchair. Yi Chenli remained calm and showed no sign of guilt.

However, the hostility emanating from him could not be concealed.

When Wan Fugui first met Yi Chenli, he realized that he was the most handsome man the fairy sister had mentioned, the irreplaceable person in her heart.

What Wan Fugui didn't expect was that he was disabled.

Wan Fugui didn't speak directly, but silently observed Yi Chenli. He wanted to see what this man was capable of that had bewitched his fairy sister.

After all, not just anyone can become his brother-in-law.

Wan Fugui brought not only rice, but also vegetables and a small amount of meat.

Fires were quickly lit in the camp. The refugees had been starving for far too long. As they cooked, their eyes shone as they watched the food.

The children jumped around happily, shouting, "The fairy sister brought us meat to eat! We can eat meat now!"

The happiness of disaster victims is simple and unpretentious; it's simply about having a full meal.

After the meal was prepared, today's food consisted of a small bowl of rice, a small piece of meat, and a small portion of vegetables. Because the number of disaster victims was so large, each victim received very little, but it brought them joy for a long time.

A group of children sat around An Yuan'er, saying they wanted to eat with her.

The children were so hungry that they didn't eat very well; some wolfed down their food, their mouths covered in oil.

An Yuan'er found them unexpectedly adorable and said with a smile, "Eat slowly, it's all yours, no one will take it from you."

The children chewed and said, "Okay, slow down."

They said they should eat slowly, but they still ate very quickly. This was a habit they had developed from not eating regularly for some time, and they would stuff food into their mouths as much as possible whenever they had it.

An Yuan'er felt sorry for the children's plight and patted them reassuringly, saying, "I won't let you go hungry in the future. You will all have enough to eat."

Originally, An Yuan'er opened a grain and oil shop, but all she wanted was to win over An Piao'er and seize control of the business.

But upon arriving at the camp and witnessing the plight of the disaster victims, she suddenly felt a sense of relief. Thankfully, she owned a grain and oil shop, and thankfully, she could help them. She did all this not only to help Yi Chenli, but also, and perhaps more importantly, to help those in need.

No one deserves to die, whether they are poor or rich. Having been given a second chance at life, no one knows better than An Yuan'er that only by living can there be hope.

"Sister is a fairy, sent by the Queen Mother of the West to bring us delicious food. Sister is so kind."

An Yuan'er patted the little boy's head: "Sister isn't a fairy, but sister can do magic tricks!"

In the blink of an eye, An Yuan'er conjured up many little flowers and gave them to the children.

The children, unable to grasp the trick, exclaimed in amazement, "Sister, you're amazing! You're amazing!"

An Yuan'er sat among the children, like a king of the kids, playing and frolicking with them.

Amidst the pile of disaster victims, the joyful laughter of children had been absent for a long time. Several adults, watching the children's happiness, shed tears.

It turns out that happiness is so ordinary and simple; it's nothing more than having a full meal.
