Chapter Ninety-Eight: Tearing Off the Face

The brother and sister were arguing quite loudly.

An Huaishou, afraid of waking her parents, pulled Cuizhen aside and ran outside to tell them.

An Yuan'er heard the footsteps of the two leaving, her heart pounded, and she felt uneasy.

Cuizhen doesn't want her brother to leave. Will her brother stay in the Yan family for Cuizhen's sake?

No. Ever since her rebirth, she has been longing for her brother to come home. How could he not come back? She has worked so hard for him to return.

That feeling of uncertainty tormented An Yuan'er, making her toss and turn in discomfort. She wanted to get up and go over to hear what her brother had to say, but what if she was discovered? It would be awkward for all three of them.

An Yuan'er endured it, kicking the blanket and fidgeting. She, who hadn't fallen asleep even after counting over 1000 little sheep, drifted off into a daze and fainted.

When I woke up the next day, the sun was already high in the sky.

Although An Yuan'er was a lazybones, she had never gotten up this late before.

My head was throbbing, as if it were about to explode, and I felt weak and unsteady.

An Yuan'er ignored all of that and as soon as she got up, she opened the cabinet, took out the package, and started rummaging through it.

All the jewelry was there, so it seems that Cuizhen eventually returned the items.

Her attitude was so firm, how did her brother manage to persuade her? Could it be that he promised her he wouldn't leave?

An Yuan'er became more and more frightened as she thought about it. She hurriedly pushed open the door and saw An Huai carrying a sickle, having just returned from cutting wheat outside.

Ignoring everything else, An Yuan'er ran up and hugged her brother.

She rubbed her head against An Huishou's clothes, calling out in a coquettish voice, "Brother, brother."

An Huaishou was taken aback by his sister's sudden enthusiasm. He moved slightly away and said, "Brother just finished working in the fields, he's covered in sweat and dirt!"

An Yuan'er didn't mind and said, "Brother, you're not dirty."

An Huai put the sickle down and said, "Breakfast is cold, let me heat it up for you."

An Yuan'er rested her chin on her hand, gazing at her brother: "Brother is so good."

"Silly Yuan'er, talking nonsense." An turned around, heated up the breakfast, and placed it on the table.

It's a pancake with a farm-raised egg and a bowl of porridge.

An Yuan'er took a bite, and just like yesterday, it was her brother's cooking. An Yuan'er ate with relish.

Halfway through the meal, Cuizhen came out of the house and said sarcastically, "As expected of a rich young lady, you sleep like a pig and get up so late. My brother and I went to do farm work early this morning, unlike some people."

An Yuan'er knew she was in the wrong, so she ate quietly without arguing.

Seeing this, Cuizhen continued her attack: "Here, people who get up late don't deserve to eat. What's more, you need someone else to heat it up for you. How can you possibly eat that?"

Cuizhen seemed to have swallowed a powder keg, constantly pressing and aggressive.

An turned and said, "Zhen'er, that's enough. Yuan'er is new here and a guest. Is this how a proper family treats its guests?"

Cuizhen was furious: "Brother, how dare you yell at me like that! It's clearly Anyuan who's in the wrong, you're so biased! Zhen'er doesn't like you anymore, brother. You're such a jerk!"

Cuizhen turned and left, slamming the door shut with tremendous force to express her dissatisfaction.

If yesterday Cuizhen was only secretly dissatisfied with An Yuan'er, today she has completely torn off the mask of civility.

The youngest daughter in the family showed her strong dislike for An Yuan'er, an outsider.

An Yuan'er stared thoughtfully at the closed door.

An looked back helplessly: "Yuan'er, Zhen'er isn't usually like this. Don't take it to heart."
