Chapter Thirty-Seven: Sparking the Spectrum

Yi Chenli never knew how to coax girls, but today, seeing An Yuan'er being sullen, he surprisingly coaxed her gently, saying, "Since six-year-old An Yuan'er enjoys this kind of game so much, then I can only let three-year-old Yi Chenli come out and play with you."

An Yuan'er's face flushed bright red instantly.

She peeked over and saw that Yi Chenli was more gentle than ever before. When a man like that pampers a girl, even a casual word from him can be deadly.

An Yuan'er covered her burning cheeks and argued, "I'm actually just so-so when it comes to playing this game."

Yi Lichen didn't say much. He took An Yuan'er's hand and covered her eyes again.

Everything went black before my eyes, and then Yi Lichen's pleasant, magnetic voice came through: "Let me guess who it is? It must be that chubby, round-faced An Yuan'er who loves sweets."

Upon hearing this, An Yuan'er hurriedly defended herself, saying, "As a fairy, I wouldn't be chubby. I'm clearly the cutest and prettiest little fairy. Yi Chenli, you're wrong."

Yi Chenli watched as a certain silly girl took the bait again.

He chuckled and said, "Aren't you just a regular person who likes to have fun? Why are you being so cooperative?"

An Yuan'er lost again.

It seems she has a huge misunderstanding about someone. If it really came down to it, who could outmaneuver him?

Whether it was because the weather was so nice today or because Yi Chenli was in a good mood, An Yuan'er hadn't felt so relaxed with Yi Chenli since they changed seats last time.

If Yi Chenli could stay like this forever, how wonderful that would be.

An Yuan'er asked, "You're not sick, so why aren't you going to school? It's not like you at all."

Although Yi Chenli never said it, An Yuan'er knew that Yi Chenli had a strong obsession with learning and he would not easily give up.

Yi Chenli's smile faded slightly: "If you don't want to go, then you don't have to go."

An Yuan'er was somewhat doubtful: "Is that really all there is to it?"

"Um."

Yi Chenli clearly didn't want to talk much about this topic.

An Yuan'er had no choice but to accept this outcome.

She remembered her purpose here and took a bookmark out of her bag.

Yi Chenli suddenly had a thought, and he desperately wanted to know the answer.

"An Yuan'er, between me and Yi Chenqi, do you actually prefer spending time with him?"

Yi Chenli spoke too quickly, and An Yuan'er didn't quite catch what he said.

"Yi Chenli, what did you just say? Say it again."

Yi Chenli glanced at the pretty girl in front of him and changed his words, saying, "It's nothing."

Isn't the answer obvious? Who would like a cripple?

Yi Chenli no longer wanted to know the answer.

An Yuan'er was naturally unaware of Yi Chenli's changing feelings. She placed her treasured peach blossom bookmark inside Yi Chenli's book.

"Yi Chenli, spring has arrived, and the peach blossoms in the yard are blooming beautifully. Don't spend all day reading books; it'll hurt your eyes."

With the girl's heartfelt words in his ears, Yi Chenli felt that no matter how beautiful the peach blossoms were, they could never compare to her beauty at this moment.

He opened the book, and a peach blossom bookmark remained on it, adding a touch of brightness to the otherwise dull book.

He read the words aloud: "The peach tree is young and tender, its blossoms are bright and beautiful."

Yi Chenli's expression was somewhat complicated. This poem...

An Yuan'er asked somewhat anxiously, "Don't you like it?"

Yi Chenli looked up at the innocent girl in front of him and sighed: "An Yuan'er, you really need to study more in the future. People will misunderstand you if you act like this."

The peach tree is young and tender, its blossoms are bright and beautiful; this maiden is going to her husband's home, may she bring harmony to her family.

This poem evokes much contemplation.

"Yi Chenli, what's the misunderstanding?" An Yuan'er still didn't understand.
