An Yuan'er had been to Yi Chenli's room many times before.
Yi Chenli is a sentimental person. Even the things he uses are things that have been with him for a long time, sometimes for decades.
An Yuan'er could imagine what was in Yi Chenli's room even with her eyes closed.
But now, the calligraphy scroll that was right in the center of Yi Chen's room is gone.
That calligraphy was so important that even though Yi Chenli never said it, An Yuan'er knew he liked it very much.
I remember back then, An Yuan'er was reading a book when she accidentally came across this poem with their two names on it. She read it aloud to him: "The grass on the plain grows lush and green, withers and flourishes year after year."
"Yi Chenli, we must be destined to be together, to be mentioned in a poem."
As she recited the poem, he wrote it down.
Although the poem is simple, Yi Chenli really liked its artistic conception.
He later framed the poem and hung it in the center of his room, never taking it down again.
Now, this calligraphy has vanished without a trace, even though An Yuan'er saw it just a few days ago.
An Yuan'er's mind raced, connecting Li Gui's death and the missing calligraphy and paintings. Everything seemed too coincidental.
Yi Chenli once jokingly said that he would take this calligraphy with him wherever he went, even if he died.
Now, it seems like a prophecy has come true. An Yuan'er has a small hope in her heart; she dares not think about it, but still holds onto a sliver of a chance.
What if?
Could it be that Ali didn't die?
So he asked Li Gui to take the painting away?
After days of silence, An Yuan'er's heart seemed to come alive all at once, and her gloomy eyes regained a moment of brilliance.
An Yuan'er immediately got up and began searching through Yi Chenli's room, leaving no corner unchecked, including the wardrobe and bookshelves.
She discovered that everything else was there perfectly fine, except for the calligraphy scroll.
That calligraphy isn't worth much, and most people wouldn't want it. Unless they're someone with a special interest.
An Yuan'er cried and laughed at the same time, calling out to the empty room, "A-Li, is that you? You must have come back?"
"Why did you lie to me? Why did you keep it from me?"
Yi Chenli was so reluctant to part with An Yuan'er, how could he bear to die? How could he bear to see An Yuan'er suffer?
Yi Chenli's death was a huge blow to An Yuan'er. Originally, An Yuan'er had focused almost all her energy and attention on avenging Yi Chenli, and now, thinking back, she seemed to have overlooked some details.
That day, An Yuan'er woke up to learn of Yi Chenli's death. It was Guo Guo who told her directly. In the end, An Yuan'er hadn't seen Yi Chenli with her own eyes before he died. She didn't know if he had said anything to her.
The person Yi Chenli is most likely to see in the end is Lan Jingtang, because it was Lan Jingtang who treated him.
Strangely enough, Lan Jingtang should have been on Yi Chenxuan's side. After the incident of An Yuan'er striking the Dengwen Drum caused such a big commotion, Yi Chenxuan's advisors should have been helping him find a solution. However, An Yuan'er never saw Lan Jingtang again after that.
Lan Jingtang never attended Yi Chenli's funeral.
He was acting mysteriously, which An Yuan'er found rather strange.
The one who tied the knot must untie it. After leaving Chenyang Palace, An Yuan'er went back to sort out her thoughts and went to Lan Mansion early the next morning.
My heart was pounding all the way, and I didn't know what I was expecting.
After Lan Jingtang was officially granted a title, the emperor bestowed upon him a residence, and this was An Yuan'er's first visit.
