Even without An Yuan'er saying anything, Lan Jingtang could tell what she was thinking.
They come and go, going around in circles, but there's more than one purpose.
Lan Jingtang became increasingly curious. An Yuan'er was clearly a pampered young lady, yet she had a wild nature. He wondered how she had developed such a personality. Who was the person she wanted to treat her leg for? The person she was thinking about so much.
Lan Jingtang finally found a cave, and he gathered some straw for An Yuan'er to lean against.
The straw poked at An Yuan'er, leaving her exposed skin slightly red. An Yuan'er complained uncomfortably, "It's uncomfortable. It pokes!"
"Young lady, we're stranded at the bottom of a cliff, not enjoying a life of luxury at home. If you poke me, just bear with it."
Seeing Lan Jingtang's attitude, An Yuan'er turned her head away and ignored him.
Having no other choice, Lan Jingtang had to take off his own clothes and place them on the straw.
An Yuan'er felt a little better.
"I'm going outside to find some food and herbs. You stay inside for a while and don't move around."
Lan Jingtang took out a small bottle from his clothes and poured out a small pill.
"For pain relief."
An Yuan'er swallowed it, and the pain subsided considerably.
"Lan Jingtang, you have such a good thing, why didn't you take it out earlier? Could it be that this medicine is very expensive and you couldn't bear to part with it before?"
Considering Lan Jingtang's obsession with medicinal herbs, An Yuan'er had reasonable doubts.
"Miss An, I think you didn't need to save me just now. You might as well have let me die. I'm so angry with you."
Lan Jingtang took a step to go out and look for something, but was caught by An Yuan'er.
Lan Jingtang thought he was scared: "I'll be back in a bit. Hmm?"
An Yuan'er pleaded softly, "Please help treat my friend's leg, okay? If you won't treat him, just let me die."
An Yuan'er knew that her request was somewhat unreasonable, but if she missed this opportunity, it would be difficult to ask again later.
"Are you threatening me?" Lan Jingtang asked, somewhat displeased.
"It's not a threat. It's a plea. Lan Jingtang, I've been begging you for days, I've been pleading with you all the way here. Please, I beg you!"
Seeing An Yuan'er pleading cautiously in front of him, Lan Jingtang instinctively resisted.
"Miss An, what kind of friend would you be willing to risk your life for? I'd really like to know." Lan Jingtang finally voiced his question.
An Yuan'er didn't even need to think about this question; she already had the answer in her heart.
“He is my most important friend, and he has been my hope since I was five years old. I want him to be able to stand up and live like a normal person. Lan Jingtang is truly outstanding and deserves the best of everything in the world. His life should not be spent in a wheelchair.”
Lan Jingtang saw light and gentleness in An Yuan'er's eyes. When she talked about that friend, her eyes would have that different look.
This radiance is unique.
Lan Jingtang suddenly felt a pang of jealousy, envying this friend who only appeared in An Yuan'er's words.
If he didn't agree, who knew how upset or troubled she would be? Lan Jingtang ultimately refused.
"I promise you."
It may seem like just four words, but it's actually quite difficult to say them.
"The Lan family values loyalty, righteousness, and propriety when saving lives. You saved my life, so out of loyalty, righteousness, and propriety, I should help you."
Lan Jingtang had no idea whether he was speaking to himself or to An Yuan'er.
An Yuan'er finally smiled and waved her little hand: "Thank you. Doctor Lan's medical skills are miraculous, comparable to Hua Tuo reborn."
