Chapter 16 Exposing Consort De

The Crown Prince frowned upon hearing Consort De's words. They had seen Consort De waiting there all along. When did she go to Chengqian Palace?

The Crown Prince had been watching He Xue the whole time. After hearing Consort De's slanderous words against Consort Tongjia, he kept a close eye on He Xue. However, when he wasn't paying attention, He Xue shot out like a cannonball.

"Your Highness Consort De, do you mean you just came out of Chengqian Palace?" He Xue asked, looking at Consort De.

Consort De looked at He Xue and felt a bad feeling for some reason. She remembered that He Xue was preparing to return to Chengqian Palace, so He Xue probably didn't know whether she had gone to Chengqian Palace or not.

“Yes!” Consort De replied.

“Your Highness Consort De is probably too old to remember clearly, but I saw you waiting here the whole time! I didn’t see Mi come out of Chengqian Palace. If you don’t believe me, you can ask the Crown Prince. He’s been with me the whole time!” He Xue said.

Hearing He Xue's words, Consort De inwardly screamed, "You're the one who's old! Your whole family is old! She's in the prime of her youth! How is she old!"

Upon hearing this, Kangxi looked at Consort De with suspicion, "Consort De, is what He Xue said true? Did you actually go to Chengqian Palace?"

Consort De knelt down with a thud, not wanting to show off her curves while kneeling, and looked at Kangxi with tears streaming down her face, "Your Majesty, this servant..."

He Xue watched as Consort De knelt down without hesitation, and she immediately felt a pain in her knees. What a ruthless person! Not only ruthless to others, but even more ruthless to herself!

Consort De hadn't expected He Xue to suddenly appear out of nowhere. While kneeling, she pondered how to smooth things over.

"Speak quickly!" Kangxi said sternly.

"Please forgive me, Your Majesty. I... I haven't gone to Chengqian Palace today. I was waiting for Your Majesty to go together. Maybe I could see the Fourth Prince."

"When I went there before, I never saw the Fourth Prince! I beg Your Majesty, please have mercy on me, for my motherly heart! I truly miss the Fourth Prince!"

As expected, Kangxi's expression softened after hearing this.

"Your Highness Consort De, you said you had been to Chengqian Palace before, but why haven't I seen you there each time!"

"Don't tell me I wasn't there every time you went! If that's true, it's too much of a coincidence!" He Xue was furious as she watched Consort De relentlessly smear Consort Tongjia.

Consort De never expected that she would be defeated by a little child today. Sure enough, none of the people around Tong Jia Qing Wan were simple. Then she glared fiercely at He Xue.

The Crown Prince did not want to get involved in this matter. It was not appropriate for him, as the son, to get involved in his father's harem affairs. However, Consort De should not have glared at He Xue.

"Father, I shouldn't say anything about this, but I'm afraid Consort De isn't telling the truth. To prevent you from being deceived, I have no choice but to speak out."

Although I haven't been to Chengqian Palace many times, I haven't encountered Consort De even once.

Your Majesty, I trust Consort Tong's character. Even if Consort De visits the Fourth Prince, Consort Tong certainly won't stop her!

He Xue's eyes lit up when she looked at the Crown Prince. With the Crown Prince, Kangxi would favor Consort Tongjia.

At this point, Kangxi understood what was going on. Consort De was somewhat clever, but her intentions were not pure. If it weren't for Xue and the Crown Prince today, he probably would have misunderstood his cousin again.

"Father, I know. I almost misunderstood your Mother Tong!" Kangxi said with self-reproach.

Having spent so much time with Consort Tongjia, He Xue knew Consort Tongjia's temperament. If Emperor Kangxi had mistakenly believed Consort De's words today, Consort Tongjia certainly wouldn't have defended herself.

Consort Tongjia will only be heartbroken that Kangxi doesn't believe her. Since he doesn't believe her, what's the point of explaining? Her attitude towards Kangxi will become even colder, which will give others an opportunity to take advantage of her.

"Uncle Emperor, Aunt said you have many things to attend to, and you shouldn't know about these things in the harem. So sometimes when Aunt suffers grievances, she won't tell you, just because she doesn't want you to worry!" He Xue spoke up for Consort Tongjia.

"Oh? Tell He Xue what grievances your aunt has suffered. Tell me, and your uncle, the Emperor, will stand up for your aunt!" Kangxi said. He didn't expect He Xue to say anything, after all, he thought He Xue was still a child.

“Once, there was a pregnant empress. The imperial physician said that she was eating too much, which was not good for the baby, and told her to eat less. But she said that her aunt was cutting back on her food!” He Xue said after thinking for a moment.

Kangxi remembered such an incident; the person had even complained to him, and he had scolded his cousin for it, but she hadn't said a word in her defense. Now, when he thought of his cousin's tearful, stubborn expression, he felt extremely guilty.

"And..." Kazuyuki continued, counting on her fingers.

"Alright, I know everything!" Kangxi hurriedly stopped Hexue. If Hexue continued, he would feel that he was committing an unforgivable crime.

"It is I who have wronged your aunt!"

“Yes!” He Xue nodded in strong agreement.

The Crown Prince tried to stop He Xue, but it was too late. "Father, He Xue was just speaking without thinking. Please don't take it too seriously!"

He Xue is too bold to say that the Emperor is wrong. Luckily, there is no one else here, otherwise, where would the Emperor's face be?

"Only children speak the truth without reservation!" Kangxi was not angry.
