Chapter 18 The Tragic Consort De

"Your Majesty!" Consort De called out tenderly to Emperor Kangxi, who was about to leave.

If Consort De hadn't spoken up, Emperor Kangxi would have almost forgotten about her existence.

"Do you have anything else to say?" Kangxi said with a gloomy face. He needed to consider how to deal with Consort De.

"Your Majesty, please forgive me! I just missed the Fourth Prince so much. He left my side right after he was born, and I really wanted to see him! That's why I did this!" Consort De cried as she spoke, looking utterly pitiful.

He Xue found it strange that Consort De was crying so hard, even though her makeup hadn't smudged. Did they have waterproof cosmetics now?

As expected, Emperor Kangxi softened his stance again.

Before Xuejian could speak to Emperor Kangxi, she went directly to Consort De and said, "Consort De, you have committed the crime of deceiving the emperor! Moreover, you even tried to frame your aunt! These are serious crimes!"

Does this mean that from now on, anyone with some unavoidable hardship can freely deceive their emperor uncle?

"No, that's not what I meant!" Consort De hurriedly explained.

She should have checked the almanac before going out today, otherwise how could she have run into He Xue! Meeting her never brings good things! She keeps ruining things for herself.

Kangxi felt that it didn't need to be elevated to the crime of deceiving the emperor; it was just some petty tricks between women, and he was still happy to see people fighting over him.

“He Xue, it’s not that serious!” Kangxi said to He Xue.

Seeing this, Consort De knew that things had taken a turn for the better. "Your Majesty, I only did this because I wanted to see you. I haven't seen you for a long time!"

Before I met you, I couldn't eat or sleep, but after seeing you, I feel much better!

Consort De raised her head and glanced at Emperor Kangxi, then blushed and quickly lowered her head again.

Emperor Kangxi was indeed very receptive to this. "I've been quite busy lately, but I'll come to see you when I'm less busy!"

"Yes, this servant will always wait for you!" Consort De said shyly.

The Crown Prince now only wanted to leave with He Xue. Watching his father flirting with his concubines made him feel uncomfortable, mainly because he was worried that He Xue would be led astray.

He Xue was disgusted to see Consort De spouting whatever came to mind, and even saying it in such a coquettish way. She felt goosebumps all over.

The Crown Prince noticed He Xue touching her arm. "What's wrong? Are you cold?"

He Xue approached the Crown Prince and shook her head, "It wasn't you, Crown Prince! I was disgusted!"

The Crown Prince looked at He Xue helplessly and smiled. She really dared to say anything, but it was also the truth; he was disgusted by her words.

Consort De was close to He Xue and naturally heard what He Xue said, which made her grit her teeth in anger.

Kangxi only saw He Xue talking to the Crown Prince, and then the Crown Prince smiled, but he didn't know what they were talking about. "What are you two talking about?"

The Crown Prince was preparing to answer Kangxi, but he was worried that Xue would tell the truth.

Before the Crown Prince could speak, He Xue had already spoken.

When Consort De saw He Xue open her mouth, she knew something bad was going to happen, and she really wanted to shut He Xue up.

Sure enough, after He Xue finished speaking, Consort De's feeling was confirmed once again. As soon as He Xue opened her mouth, she knew that nothing good was coming!

"Uncle Emperor, I told my brother Crown Prince, you are so amazing! You can even treat illnesses! Not only can you treat illnesses, but you can also cure them!" He Xue said innocently.

Emperor Kangxi was amused by He Xue's words, "You overestimate me. I don't have those abilities! I'm not a royal physician, how could I treat patients!"

"But just now, didn't Consort De say that she felt better after seeing you? Did she even eat three more bowls of rice? Doesn't that mean you can cure diseases?" He Xue asked, puzzled.

Consort De almost coughed up blood. When did she ever say she could eat three more bowls of rice? Is she a pig?

Kangxi looked at Hexue with innocent eyes and didn't know what to say. Should he tell Hexue that this was flirting between him and his concubine?

Kangxi said to the Crown Prince, "Baocheng, keep a close eye on her from now on, and don't let her say everything!"

"Yes, Father Emperor!" the Crown Prince replied.

He Xue, seemingly oblivious to Kangxi's embarrassment, continued, "Uncle Emperor, since you can cure illnesses, could you spend more time with Aunt? Aunt is always feeling unwell and can't eat!"

"Maybe if you go, Auntie will get better, her appetite will improve, and she might even be able to eat three bowls of rice!"

Kangxi felt that if they stayed any longer, who knew what outrageous things Xue would say? "Let's go, let's go see your aunt!"

“Okay!” He Xue replied, but stopped in front of Consort De.
