When the Crown Prince arrived at the Imperial Garden, he encountered the First Prince walking towards him.
"How is He Xue?" the eldest prince asked.
"Third brother and Consort Rong are watching over him! The imperial physician is still treating him!" the Crown Prince said. "Elder brother, have you discovered anything?"
"You were right, there was indeed something strange about the Imperial Garden today."
Logically, such a commotion should have been noticed by patrolling guards, but none of the guards near the lotus pond were there today.
I investigated and found that all the guards near the lotus pond have been transferred. There's water not far ahead, and the guards have all gone to put out a fire!
"Put out the fire?" the crown prince said gravely.
"Yes, it was a pile of dry branches that caught fire. The weather is quite dry now, so the fire spread very quickly. And judging from the intensity of the fire, it was deliberately set by someone, clearly based on the wind direction!"
"It seems someone is deliberately targeting He Xue." The eldest prince really couldn't figure out who disliked He Xue, and why there was always someone targeting her!
He Xue was friendly to everyone in the palace, and I've never heard of her making enemies with anyone!
"Who is the person who is chasing He Xue?" the Crown Prince asked.
"That person is a concubine in the Cold Palace, and she is mentally unstable! Someone must have deliberately misled her, otherwise how would she know He Xue!"
"I'm afraid we can't handle this person; we need to consult Father Emperor!" After all, she was their grandfather's concubine; how could they have the right to deal with her?
Seeing the Crown Prince leave, the eldest prince immediately asked, "Second Prince, where are you going now?"
"The Cold Palace!" The Crown Prince was now struggling to suppress his anger. He was determined to find the person behind it all, and he would not let the person who killed He Xue get away with it.
Looking at the Crown Prince, the eldest prince felt that something was wrong. Perhaps he was too worried about He Xue, since the Crown Prince loved He Xue the most among the four of them.
"I'll go with you!" The eldest prince, worried about the crown prince, immediately chased after him.
The imperial physician, Li, finally emerged from the prince's quarters, and Consort Rong and the others immediately surrounded him.
"Imperial Physician Li, how is He Xue?" Consort Rong asked immediately.
"Your Highness, I have already treated Princess Hexue's wounds."
"I have also examined the princess, but I found no internal injuries. I am not very good at this, so to be on the safe side, I would like to have Physician Liu examine the princess again!" Physician Li said.
"Alright, thank you for your hard work, Physician Li!" Consort Rong said to Physician Li.
"I'll go find Physician Liu right now!" The Third Prince turned and left after hearing this.
"Third Brother, Second Brother has already sent Fourth Brother out of the palace to find Physician Liu!" The Eighth Prince stopped the Third Prince.
The Third Prince then stopped in his tracks.
"Imperial Physician Li, is there anything else we need to be careful about?" Consort Rong continued to ask.
"Gege was frightened, and because of her injuries, she may have a fever tonight. Please take good care of her tonight!"
"Alright, I've got it in mind!" Consort Rong considered whether she should let the Emperor or the Imperial Noble Consort know about this, and perhaps even inform the General's Mansion outside the palace.
"If Consort Rong has no further instructions, I will go and prepare the medicine!" said Imperial Physician Li.
Consort Rong waved her hand at Imperial Physician Li, "Go!"
The guards at the entrance of the Cold Palace stared wide-eyed at the two people walking towards them. How could the Crown Prince and the First Prince have come here?
"This servant greets Your Highness the Crown Prince and the First Prince!"
"Have you been guarding this place the whole time?" the prince asked.
"Your Highness, we dare not neglect our duties!" said Guard A.
"You dare not neglect your duties? Go and see if there are fewer people inside?" the eldest prince said irritably.
"Your Highness, please forgive us, First Prince, we were just going to relieve ourselves!" said Guard B.
"Do you even know that because of your negligence, you've directly harmed He Xue!" The eldest prince said, kicking the man to the ground.
"Brother, wait a minute!" The Crown Prince stopped the eldest prince. "I'm giving you a chance to redeem yourselves! You must answer my questions truthfully!"
"Your Highness, this servant would never dare to conceal anything!"
