Chapter 214 Suhetai Returns to Beijing

After returning to the palace, the Crown Prince learned that Emperor Kangxi had sent someone to look for him, so he immediately went to the Qianqing Palace.

"Greetings, Your Majesty!"

"Get up!" Kangxi waved his hand and said to the Crown Prince, "I heard you left the palace?"

"Yes, Your Majesty, I'm going to Suo'etu's residence!" The Crown Prince knew that since Kangxi had asked this question, he knew where he had gone, and there was no need for him to hide it.

"You went to see Suo'etu to ask about He Xue's assassination?" Kangxi asked casually.

"Yes, Your Majesty, I cannot allow anyone who could endanger Father's safety to remain in the palace."

"If this really is about Suo'etu, then I will punish Suo'etu without considering the Empress Dowager's feelings!" the Crown Prince said indignantly.

He couldn't tell Kangxi that he was going to find Suo'etu for He Xue's sake, otherwise He Xue would be in danger. He could only let Kangxi know how important He Xue was to him if he was absolutely certain.

He and Kangxi were not just an ordinary father and son; they were also ruler and subject. He didn't actually want to speak to Kangxi so cautiously, but he had no choice!

Kangxi was not only his father, but also his imperial father!

Emperor Kangxi walked up to the Crown Prince, patted him on the shoulder, and said, "Your filial piety is understood by your father!"

What does "Song'etu" mean?

"Your Majesty, I am incompetent. Suo'etu keeps crying out that he is innocent! I don't know whether what he says is true or false."

Do you think what Suo'etu said is true or false?

"Your Majesty, I truly do not understand the reasons why Suo'etu is targeting Hexue. Could it be that Suo'etu is truly innocent?" After the Crown Prince finished speaking, he stole a glance at Kangxi.

Although he knew the reason, he could only pretend not to know it now.

This is also why Kangxi couldn't understand it. Was Su'etu just bored and looking for trouble? If Suhetai found out, he would probably be in trouble too!

Kangxi was right; Suhetai was carrying his forty-meter-long sword and heading straight for Suo'etu's residence.

Upon receiving Jing Shu's message, Su Hetai immediately packed his things and rushed back to the capital.

Su Hetai returned to the general's mansion, turned around and dismounted, threw the riding whip to the person behind him, and strode into the mansion.

"Madam? Madam?" Su Hetai called out as he walked.

Hearing the noise, Madam Tongjia came out. "Master, why are you back so soon?"

"We're traveling through the night! How is He Xue?" Su Hetai asked anxiously.

"It's nothing serious now!" said Madam Tongjia. "My father and mother are here too!"

"My father-in-law and mother-in-law are here too!" With that, Su Hetai walked into the main hall.

"Greetings, father-in-law and mother-in-law!" Su Hetai greeted Tong Guowei and his wife, Tong Jia.

“There’s no need to be so polite among family!” Mrs. Tong Jia said.

"Did you rush back overnight?" Tong Guowei asked.

"Yes, I received Jing Shu's message. I was worried about He Xue, so I rushed back!" Su Hetai said.

"Does Shuyi know?" Tongjia asked.

"I haven't told him yet! I'm afraid he'll delay my return!"

Tongjia glared at Su Hetai, wondering if Shuyi would be worried if she knew Su Hetai had returned.

"Go check on He Xue first, I have something to tell you later!" Tong Guowei said to Su Hetai.

"Yes, father-in-law!" Su Hetai said and walked towards He Xue's courtyard.

"He Xue, it's time to take your medicine!" Now, Madam Tongjia has given Jing Shu a task: to make sure He Xue takes her medicine.

"Big brother, I'm asleep!" Upon hearing Jing Shu's voice, He Xue immediately pulled back the covers, completely covering herself.

"You're asleep, why are you still talking!" Jing Shu said, looking at He Xue, who was covered with a blanket on the bed.

"Talking in your sleep!" Xue's voice came from under the covers!

"You can even talk back to me fluently in your sleep?" Jing Shu looked at the lump on the bed with amusement. "In that case, I'll continue reading to you!"

"No need, big brother, I'll drink it, I'll drink it!" He Xue pouted and crawled out from under the covers, gritting her teeth as she spoke. As long as she didn't take her medicine, Jing Shu would start reading to her. The books Jing Shu read were difficult to understand, and her head was buzzing from listening.

"Big brother, can you try a different move?" He Xue asked.

"No need, as long as one move works, that's enough!" Jing Shu said.

"Big brother, you've gone astray!" He Xue said with displeasure.

"Stop being so sarcastic, drink up!" Jing Shu said to He Xue.

He Xue picked up the bowl and drank it down directly. Drinking the medicine made He Xue feel like she was cutting off her own arm.

After He Xue finished drinking, Jing Shu immediately handed her a candied fruit.

He Xue, munching on candied fruit, asked, "Big brother, where did you buy the pastries from yesterday? I want more!"

Jing Shuwen said without changing his expression, "Alright, I'll have someone go and buy it for you!"

"Thank you, big brother!" He Xue said happily.

Jing Shu smiled. He didn't tell He Xue that the pastries were sent by the Crown Prince, as he didn't want to gain favor with He Xue for the Crown Prince.

But how can he tell the prince and Xue that they still want to eat those snacks?
