Kangxi walked up to Su Hetai and personally helped him up, saying, "I feel deeply ashamed about what happened to Hexue!"
"Your Majesty cannot be blamed for this. You are extremely busy with state affairs, and there are bound to be things you cannot attend to!"
The Crown Prince glanced at Suhetai, and he felt that Suhetai would definitely not let it go so easily.
Emperor Kangxi was surprised that Su Hetai was so easy to talk to. "Don't worry, I will definitely give you an explanation! Considering that you love your daughter so much, I will not pursue the matter of your unauthorized return to the capital!"
"This servant thanks Your Majesty! However, there is one more matter, and I beg Your Majesty to help this servant!" Su Hetai said cautiously.
Looking at Su Hetai's expression, Kangxi said with a mixture of amusement and exasperation, "What have you done this time?"
"Actually, it's nothing serious. It's just that when I was sparring with Suo'etu, I accidentally hit him a little too hard and injured him!" Suhetai said while stealing glances at Kangxi's expression.
Kangxi waited for Su Hetai to finish speaking, then pointed at Su Hetai and said, "Do you think I would believe what you say? If I believed you, I would be a pig!"
Kangxi did not believe Suhetai's words at all. Suhetai said that he had injured Suo'etu, and he just hoped that Suo'etu would live.
"Father, injuries are inevitable when sparring. If you're afraid of getting hurt, then don't spar!" The eldest prince protested after hearing Kangxi's words.
"You believe him?" Kangxi turned to look at the eldest prince. "You're a pig!"
The eldest prince was about to speak when the crown prince pulled him back and shook his head at him.
The eldest prince then awkwardly shut his mouth.
"I know perfectly well why you attacked Suo'etu. This matter has not yet been investigated, so you cannot draw conclusions so quickly!" Kangxi said, suppressing his anger.
"Your Majesty, this servant truly made a mistake! I will certainly not do it again!" Su Hetai said.
Seeing that Su Hetai was remorseful and had a good attitude, Emperor Kangxi decided not to pursue the matter further, since He Xue had suffered an undeserved disaster.
"Your Majesty, Lord Suo'etu requests an audience!" Liang Jiugong entered and reported.
Emperor Kangxi was at his wits' end. He knew without a doubt that Suo'etu had come to complain. "Let him in!"
When Suhetu entered, everyone stared at Suhetai in shock. Was this what he meant by "a little too heavy-handed"? This was simply too heavy-handed; any heavier and Suhetu would have been killed.
Soetu had blood at the corner of his mouth, his face was covered in bruises, and his eyes were swollen.
When Suhetai was seen there, Songgotu was furious. "Suhetai, what are you doing here? Are you trying to play the victim and accuse me first?"
"Your Majesty, you must do justice for me! Suhetai barged into my residence and beat me like this for no reason!" Soetu knelt on the ground and said.
"Suhetai, is this what you meant by sparring?" Kangxi asked.
"Your Majesty, this servant did indeed use too much force!" Suhetai admitted.
"Sparring? Suhetai, you're spouting nonsense! Your Majesty, don't believe Suhetai!" Soetu had never seen such a shameless person.
"Your Majesty, if you don't believe me, you can send someone to my residence to see for yourself. My residence has been completely ransacked by Suhetai!" Suo'etu was almost in tears. Suhetai was truly shameless.
"Suhetai, didn't you say you wanted to spar with Suo'etu? Why did you end up smashing up his house?!"
"Father, I know what happened!" the eldest prince stepped forward and said, "They must have gotten too caught up in the fight, so it's normal for some things to get damaged!"
"Shut up!" Kangxi snapped. He was already annoyed enough, and now this was just adding to his troubles.
Kangxi glanced at the other princes who were engrossed in watching the spectacle, and cursed inwardly, "A bunch of unfilial sons!"
"Suhetai, you must give me a reasonable explanation today!"
Suhetai's eyes darted around, and he instantly had an idea. "Your Majesty, as you know, Hexue was injured, and I was feeling bad. So I wanted to go out for a walk. I went to a tavern and had some drinks. On my way back, I passed by Suo'etu's residence."
I asked the lion at the gate if Songgotu was in the mansion, but he didn't answer the servant.
The servant went inside and saw the dog that Suo'etu kept. The servant asked him if Suo'etu had forgotten him, and he replied, "Woof."
The servant endured it and continued walking forward. He encountered the sheep of the manor again and asked if Suo'etu was in the manor. Suo'etu replied, "No."
The lackey was furious. No wonder people say that a person's animal reflects their character; they all look down on people.
The servant went to find the dogs and sheep, who had made a complete mess of Suo'etu's residence. Seeing this, they realized they were in trouble and ran away, so Suo'etu framed the servant.
After hearing Suhetai's words, Emperor Kangxi was furious.
Soetu was so angry he couldn't speak, he could only keep saying, "This is too much! This is too much!"
The eldest prince and several other younger princes burst out laughing, while the crown prince, the third prince, and the fourth prince struggled to hold back their laughter.
