Kangxi then noticed that He Xue and the Crown Prince were both looking at him. He immediately resumed his serious expression.
"Which of you two can tell me what's going on?"
"Father..." Before the Crown Prince could finish speaking, He Xue interrupted him.

"Thank you, Uncle Emperor!" He Xue said with a smile.
"But don't be too happy yet! I didn't say there would be no punishment!"
Just moments ago, He Xue was in high spirits, but immediately wilted like a frostbitten eggplant.
"He Xue, go change your clothes first!" Kangxi wanted to get He Xue away, as there were some things he needed to ask the Crown Prince.
He Xue looked at the Crown Prince with concern, and the Crown Prince smiled and shook his head.

After He Xue left, Kangxi said to the Crown Prince, "Baocheng, are you able to get close to He Xue?"
"Yes!" the crown prince nodded.
"You don't dislike her either?" Kangxi wanted to be sure.
"I don't dislike her!" the Crown Prince thought to himself. Father, even if I dislike you, I will not dislike He Xue!
"Since that's the case, I will bestow marriage upon you during the next imperial concubine selection!" Kangxi felt relieved, as his biggest worry had been resolved.
"Your son thanks Your Majesty!" The Crown Prince had called Emperor Kangxi "Father" for over twenty years, but he had never been so sincere before.
"Now that you've made your choice, you can decide for yourself!" Kangxi said to the Crown Prince. He could also see that He Xue felt like a brother to the Crown Prince.
Although the imperial concubine selection was supposed to be completed before other officials could choose, the court officials naturally had their own ways of dealing with it. They would use some underhanded tactics to get married on their own.
Even if he knew these people were deliberately trying to shut down the signboard, he couldn't say anything.
