Chapter 306 Self-taught

When the Crown Prince pushed open the door and walked in, he saw He Xue looking at him and smiling. At first, he thought he was seeing things, so he rubbed his eyes hard before he realized it was real.

"Crown Prince!" He Xue's voice was still weak.

"He Xue, you're awake!" The Crown Prince was first shocked, then overjoyed, and stepped forward to hug He Xue in his arms.

He Xue also reached out and hugged the Crown Prince, gently patting his shoulder, "Crown Prince, I'm alright!"

"Yes!" the crown prince replied.

He Xue felt as if water droplets were falling on her neck. "Could it be that my brother, the Crown Prince, is crying?"

The Crown Prince held He Xue tightly in his arms, as if he wanted to meld her into his own body. His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of his throat.

The Crown Prince didn't care what Xue thought now; he only knew that the person in his arms was his lost treasure that he had regained, and his heart was filled with joy.

"Brother Crown Prince, Qingdai is still here!" He Xue whispered.

The Crown Prince reluctantly released He Xue.

He Xue discovered that Qing Dai had already left sometime earlier.

"Qingdai wouldn't be so blind!" the Crown Prince said, looking at Hexue. "Now that Qingdai isn't here, can we continue holding her?"

"No!" He Xue said, her face flushed. "Crown Prince, are you alright?" He Xue was worried that someone might have poisoned the Crown Prince a long time ago, and that she had just happened to witness it today.

"It's alright, Physician Liu has confirmed that I'm fine!"

"That's wonderful!" Kazuyuki said with relief.

"Fool, I would rather be the one poisoned than let you get hurt in the slightest!" the prince said remorsefully.

"I'm fine now! I didn't want you to get hurt, Your Highness!" He Xue said, looking up at the Crown Prince.

"Go back to bed and rest!" The Crown Prince picked up He Xue and carried her inside without waiting for her to speak.

He Xue gasped in surprise and grabbed the prince's neck in fright. The prince's low laughter came from above.

He Xue lowered her head even further, her cheek pressed against the prince's chest. She could hear his heartbeat and feel his breathing.

The prince came to the bedside but did not put He Xue down. Instead, he let He Xue sit on his lap.

He Xue looked up and saw the Crown Prince gazing at her with deep affection.

Before she could speak, she felt a warm sensation on her lips, and she stared at the Crown Prince in disbelief.

The Crown Prince released He Xue only when he felt she was almost out of breath. "Next time, close your eyes and remember to breathe!"

He Xue said in a voice barely above a whisper, "How should I know?"

"You'll understand after practicing more!" the prince said with a smile.

"Then who did Crown Prince train with?" He Xue asked, puffing out her cheeks.

"Are you jealous?" The Crown Prince gently flicked He Xue's nose.

"No!" He Xue said awkwardly, turning her head away.

“Men are naturally gifted at some things!” the Crown Prince whispered in He Xue’s ear.

He Xue didn't believe the Crown Prince's words; she knew that princes and noblemen all had maids serving them.

"Brother Crown Prince, don't you have palace maids in charge of personnel?" He Xue pouted and said.

"Do you see any palace maids in Yuqing Palace? Don't you know that your brother, the Crown Prince, is waiting for you to grow up?" the Crown Prince said with deep affection and tenderness.

"I know!" He Xue hugged the prince tightly and said, moved.

Suddenly, Xue looked up at the Crown Prince and said, "Brother Crown Prince, I should go back to Chengqian Palace, otherwise Aunt will worry!" After saying that, she prepared to get off the Crown Prince's lap.

The Crown Prince was at a loss for words when it came to what to say to He Xue.

He Xuejian did not speak to the Crown Prince, but when she looked at him, she saw that he looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated.

"Brother Crown Prince, has something happened to Aunt?" He Xue asked, her voice trembling.

"He Xue, Mother Tong is alright!" The Crown Prince said immediately, afraid of frightening He Xue.

"Someone poisoned Yuqing Palace. The investigation eventually led to a palace maid serving the Ninth Princess, who claimed that it was Tong E Niang who ordered her to do it!"

"Brother Crown Prince, Aunt wouldn't do such a thing!" He Xue said anxiously.

"He Xue, don't worry. Of course, the Crown Prince knows. It's just that this matter has alarmed the Empress Dowager. She has now ordered Tong E Niang to stay in Chengqian Palace, and no one is allowed to visit her!"

"The Empress Dowager's orders? What about the Emperor's uncle? Doesn't he care either?"

"He Xue, Father Emperor can't say anything about the Empress Dowager's orders. We'll plead for Mother Tong's sake after some time!" The Crown Prince hugged He Xue and comforted her.

"Brother Crown Prince, may I go see my aunt?" He Xue asked. He Xue knew this would put the Crown Prince in a difficult position, but she wouldn't feel at ease without seeing the Imperial Noble Consort.

"Brother Crown Prince, please think of a solution!" Faced with He Xue, the Crown Prince really couldn't say "no".
