He Xue approached Xing Chi and asked in a low voice, "Master, is the matter of the Empress Dowager and Regent Dorgon true?"
Was your initial opposition to the Empress Dowager marrying the Regent Prince because they were uncle and sister-in-law?
If that's the case, why did you still steal your brother's wife? Isn't your behavior incredibly hypocritical?
Xingchi suppressed the urge to curse and called out to the door, "Xuan Ye, come in!" Whose brat is this? Why are there so many tricky questions?
Kangxi, who was listening outside the door, had no intention of going in. He was very curious about what Xue had said that made his father so furious.
"Master, are you angry because you're embarrassed? You're a typical example of 'the magistrate is allowed to set fires, but the common people are not allowed to light lamps'."
To put it bluntly, you are selfish. You take advantage of the fact that the Empress Dowager is your mother, so you can do whatever you want. You can marry your brother's wife whenever you want, or become a monk whenever you want, without considering other people's feelings at all!
"Why haven't you seen your uncle, the Emperor, all these years? Is it because you're ashamed to face him, or do you feel guilty for leaving everything to him?" He Xue continued to press.
Emperor Kangxi also listened attentively to Xingchi's reply.
“What difference does it make whether I see him or not! He governed the Qing Dynasty very well! I owe him a debt; I haven’t fulfilled my responsibilities as a father!” Xingchi sighed deeply.
"At least you have some self-awareness!"
Xingchi looked at Hexue and smiled, "You little girl, you're really interesting, daring to talk to me like that!"
"I was just discussing some issues with you, Master. I was facing Master Xingchi, not the former emperor!" He Xue smiled slyly.
“You’re right! There’s only Xingchi in the world!” Xingchi said.
Why does Xue sense that Xingchi is missing his old days? Could it be that he regrets becoming a monk?
"Call them all in!" Xingchi said to Hexue.
“Okay!” He Xue readily agreed.
Upon hearing He Xue's footsteps, Emperor Kangxi immediately left the doorway and took a few steps toward the courtyard gate so that no one would notice they were eavesdropping.
"Uncle, Aunt, Second Brother! The Master wants to see you!" He Xue said to the three people outside the door.
Upon hearing this, Kangxi immediately hurried over, fearing that if he was too late, Xingchi would change his mind.
Xingchi looked at the person who walked in and smiled with satisfaction.
"Your son greets Father!" Kangxi knelt excitedly before Xingchi.
The Imperial Noble Consort and the Crown Prince also knelt down.
Seeing this, He Xue had no choice but to kneel down as well.
Emperor Kangxi was very excited, but Xingchi looked at him calmly and said, "Your Majesty, please rise. This humble monk is just an ordinary monk named Xingchi from Mount Wutai! I am truly unworthy of Your Majesty's great courtesy!"
"Pretentious!" He Xue said, pouting.
He Xue's voice was very soft, but everyone in the room could hear it.
Xingchi felt that meeting Hexue was the most regrettable thing he had ever done in his life; he must have been out of his mind to have met Hexue.
"Father, please come back to the palace with your son!" Kangxi said to Xingchi.
“Your Majesty, this humble monk is already dead, and it is inappropriate for me to appear before the public!” Xingchi said to Kangxi.
“Master, Uncle didn’t say you should enter the palace in the name of the late emperor, otherwise the whole world would be alarmed and would think you’ve come back from the dead! It would be so much fun!” He Xue said with some anticipation.
Looking at He Xue's expression, the Crown Prince knew that He Xue wasn't worried about the world being shocked, but rather that it was a lot of fun!
"You..." Xingchi was so angry with He Xue that he glared at her.
"Xuan Ye, why did you bring this girl here? Do you have a problem with me and deliberately sent this girl to torment me?"
If you have any complaints, just say so. Why let this girl torment me? I'm still your father! The Qing Dynasty ruled the country with filial piety in mind!
"This girl may not be good at anything else, but she's got a knack for being unreasonable!" Xingchi complained bitterly to Kangxi.
"I wonder which unlucky guy will marry her in the future? Xuan Ye, this girl, isn't married yet, is she?" Xingchi looked at He Xue's hair ornaments and concluded that she was not married.
Kangxi chuckled awkwardly after hearing Xingchi's words. Could he tell Xingchi that his son, the Crown Prince of the Qing Dynasty, was that unlucky fellow?
