The Crown Prince arrived at He Xue's room. "He Xue, we should go back!"
"Alright!" After He Xue bid farewell to Madam Tongjia and Madam Tongjia, the Crown Prince stepped forward, picked up He Xue, and walked outside.
Once in the carriage, He Xue wanted to explain the contraceptive soup to the Crown Prince, but drowsiness overcame her, and she fell asleep in his arms before she could even speak.
The Crown Prince instructed He Zhu to slow the carriage down, and then gently placed his hand on He Xue's lower abdomen. There was a small life growing there, a small life containing his and He Xue's blood and flesh.
The Crown Prince gently stroked He Xue's belly, a smile unconsciously creeping onto his lips. He imagined what this little life would look like in the future, his heart filled with anticipation.
He Xue slept peacefully in the Crown Prince's arms, a happy smile on her face. Looking at her, the Crown Prince felt a deep sense of contentment; their child would grow up surrounded by their father and mother.
The carriage moved slowly forward and finally returned to Yuqing Palace.
The carriage stopped, and He Xue woke up.
"Brother Crown Prince, have we arrived?" He Xue asked groggily.
"We're here! Let's go down!" the prince said, and then he carried He Xue back to the room.
When only the Crown Prince and He Xue remained in the room, He Xue looked at the Crown Prince and asked, "Brother Crown Prince, is there nothing you want to ask me?"
"What do you mean?" The Crown Prince looked at He Xue, somewhat confused.
"Brother Crown Prince, don't you like children?" He Xue asked, her eyes red.
"Why would you think that?" the crown prince quickly explained. "Don't cry, I love children the most!"
"Then why did you drink the contraceptive soup?" He Xue pouted and looked at the Crown Prince with dissatisfaction.
"You knew everything?" the crown prince asked.
"Okay, I understand! Can you give me an explanation, Crown Prince?"
"He Xue, let me explain. I think you're still too young and your health isn't very good, so I'm not in a hurry to have children. And you don't like taking medicine, so I took it myself!"
"But Physician Liu is a quack. The contraceptive medicine he prescribed is completely useless. I'll have Father Emperor dismiss him in a moment!" the Crown Prince said angrily.
“Brother Crown Prince, it has nothing to do with Physician Liu. I asked Physician Liu to change the contraceptive soup to a tonic!” He Xue felt that she couldn’t let Physician Liu be labeled as a quack.
"A tonic? What's going on?" the crown prince asked, puzzled.
So Xue told the Crown Prince what she had told Physician Liu about.
"Your Highness, Physician Liu only told the truth under pressure from me and my aunt. He didn't want any misunderstanding between us!" He Xue pleaded for Physician Liu, worried that the Crown Prince would blame him.
"It was my oversight that I didn't think things through and wasn't sure I could tell you this. It seems I wasn't as thoughtful as Physician Liu!" The Crown Prince also felt deeply guilty. He had only treated He Xue in the way he thought was best, but he had overlooked his own thoughts.
“Brother Crown Prince, I know you’re worried about my health, but I also want to have a child that belongs to us, the fruit of our love!” He Xue said, looking directly into the Crown Prince’s eyes.
"He Xue, I'm sorry, I didn't think things through." The Crown Prince hugged He Xue tightly. "I won't act on my own again! Let's look forward to the birth of our child together!"
He Xue leaned against the Crown Prince's chest, feeling his heartbeat, and nodded slightly.
"Brother Crown Prince, don't you doubt me?" He Xue asked curiously.
"No, doubting you is the same as doubting myself. But I do suspect that Physician Liu is faking it!" the Crown Prince said.
"Brother Crown Prince, did I cause you any trouble today?" He Xue asked.
