"Let him in!" Kangxi said.
Prince Yu walked in, preparing to pay his respects to Emperor Kangxi.
"Second Brother, no need for such formalities!" Kangxi also came over.
"Your Majesty, is there something you need to summon me to the palace for?" Prince Yu asked.
Prince Yu knew that Emperor Kangxi would not allow him to enter the palace at this time without a reason.
"There's something I need my second brother to investigate for me!" Kangxi then told Prince Yu about how someone had almost deposed the Eighth Prince.

“This servant understands!” Prince Yu replied.
At the General's Mansion, He Zhu announced from outside the door, "Your Highness, someone from the palace has arrived!"
The Crown Prince frowned. How come someone from the palace had arrived so soon after he left? Had something happened? "I know!"
"Brother Crown Prince, is something wrong in the palace?" He Xue also felt that something must have happened, otherwise Kangxi would not have sent someone.
"I'll go take a look, you rest!" the Crown Prince said to He Xue.
“Let’s go together!” He Xue said.
"Alright!" The Crown Prince and He Xue then went to the front hall together.
Upon seeing the Crown Prince and He Xue arrive, Li Dequan immediately bowed, saying, "Greetings, Your Highness the Crown Prince, Greetings, Crown Princess!"
"Li Dequan, did Father Emperor send you here to give you some instructions?" the Crown Prince asked.
"Your Highness, the Emperor only told me to return to the palace. I don't know the specifics!" Li Dequan said with a smile.
"I understand!" the Crown Prince replied.
Li Dequan leaned close to the Crown Prince and whispered, "Master then told you that the Emperor beat the Eighth Prince!"
[Was the Eighth Prince beaten?] The Crown Prince wondered if he had missed something. If he had known that the Eighth Prince had been beaten, he would have left later.
"He Xue, you stay at the General's Mansion with peace of mind. I'll go back to the palace first!" The Crown Prince turned to He Xue and said.
"Brother Crown Prince, I'll go back with you, otherwise I won't be at ease," He Xue said anxiously.
"You've just returned to the General's Mansion, go and spend some time with your father-in-law and mother-in-law! Besides, your pregnancy isn't very stable, and the back-and-forth travel won't be good for your body!"
The Crown Prince sensed that Kangxi's summons to return was related to the Eighth Prince, and likely not for good reasons. He and Xue staying at the General's Mansion meant they wouldn't be implicated.
"Brother Crown Prince, I'm fine. I must go back with you!" He Xue said anxiously.
"Your Highness, let Hexue return to the palace with you!" said Lady Tongjia. "Otherwise, Hexue won't feel at ease staying here!"
"Mother, I'm sorry, I'll come back to be with you again!" He Xue looked at Tong Jia Shi with red eyes.
"It's alright, I'm already very happy that you're back today!" Madam Tongjia comforted Hexue.
Seeing that Lady Tongjia said this, the Crown Prince did not say anything more and instructed Qingdai and Xiabing to pack Hexue's things and prepare to return to the palace.
After bidding a reluctant farewell to Lady Tongjia, He Xue boarded the carriage.
"Be extra careful!" Jing Shu said to the Crown Prince.
The Crown Prince nodded, then left the General's Mansion with He Xue.
