Chapter 531 Giving Another Chance

After the Eighth Prince left, Emperor Kangxi seemed to have made a great decision and wrote an imperial edict.

Liang Jiugong glanced at it from the side and was shocked, but he quickly composed himself.

"Liang Jiugong, after Consort Liang's funeral, go to the Eighth Prince's residence and read out this imperial edict!" Kangxi said to Liang Jiugong.

"Yes, Your Majesty!" Liang Jiugong replied.

Kangxi pondered for a moment, then said, "Let's put it away for now and talk about it later!"

"Yes!" Liang Jiugong knew that Kangxi still cared about his father-son relationship with the Eighth Prince, but he just hoped that the Eighth Prince would not disappoint the Emperor.

Emperor Kangxi wanted to give the Eighth Prince another chance, but the Eighth Prince was destined to disappoint him.

When the Eighth Prince arrived at Yuqing Palace, he barged straight in.

The guards immediately stopped the Eighth Prince.

"Get out of my way! I need to see the Crown Prince!" the Eighth Prince said angrily.

“Eighth Prince, His Majesty has decreed that no one is allowed to enter Yuqing Palace. Please forgive us!” the guard said.

"What if I say no? How dare you stop me?" The Eighth Prince said, and tried to force his way in.

With a glance, the head guard signaled someone to go and inform Kangxi, while continuing to look at the Eighth Prince, saying, "This servant dares not, this servant is only acting under orders!"

"I'm going to Yuqing Palace today, and I'll see if you dare to stop me!" The Eighth Prince walked into Yuqing Palace without a care in the world.

The commander of the guards noticed the injury on the Eighth Prince's back and dared not stop him, lest Emperor Kangxi take his anger out on them!

He ordered the others to surround the Eighth Prince. The Eighth Prince walked forward, and they followed him backward. Even if Emperor Kangxi came, he wouldn't blame them for neglecting their duties.

"Didn't they say the Eighth Prince had a very good temper and was very gentle? What's going on today?" The captain of the guards looked the Eighth Prince over. "It seems the rumors aren't reliable either!"

In the Qianqing Palace, just as Emperor Kangxi was about to rest for a moment, Liang Jiugong rushed in, saying, "Your Majesty, the Eighth Prince has gone to the Yuqing Palace and insists on going in!"

Kangxi immediately got out of bed. "What is he going to do now? Help me change my clothes. I want to see for myself what this unfilial son is up to!" Kangxi's face turned red with anger.

“Your Majesty, please don’t worry. Perhaps the Eighth Prince has gone to visit His Highness the Crown Prince!” Liang Jiugong said while tidying up Kangxi’s clothes.

"Do you even believe what you're saying?" Kangxi rolled his eyes at Liang Jiugong, then strode out.

"Your Majesty, you haven't put on your shoes yet! Don't worry about your dragon feet..." Liang Jiugong said, carrying the shoes as he chased after him.

The Crown Prince, who rarely had a moment of peace, was practicing calligraphy with He Xue when he heard a commotion outside.

"He Zhu, what's going on outside?" the Crown Prince called out unhappily.

He Xue also put down her pen. "Brother Crown Prince, I'll go out and take a look!"

At this moment, He Zhu pushed the door open and came in, "Your Highness, the Eighth Prince has barged in!"

"Eighth Prince? What's he doing here?" the Crown Prince asked, puzzled.

"Yinreng, come out here! Come out here right now!" the Eighth Prince shouted.

The crown prince lifted his foot to leave.

“Your Highness, the Eighth Prince is furious and probably has ill intentions. You should not go out!” He Zhu said to the Crown Prince.

"I want to see what he's doing here. Yuqing Palace is not a place for him to run wild!" The Crown Prince ignored He Zhu's obstruction and was about to leave.

“Brother Crown Prince, I’ll go with you!” He Xue said.

"No, you stay here!" the Crown Prince said, his tone leaving no room for argument. "No one knows what he might do. It's safer for you to stay in your room!"

"Alright then! Be careful yourself!" Although He Xue was worried about the Crown Prince going out alone, she also understood that if something really happened, she would only distract him, so she decided to stay in the room.

"Alright!" the crown prince said and walked out.

He Xue looked out the window at the commotion outside.
