Chapter 57 I Don't Want to See the Crown Prince

"Fourth Brother, you should have the imperial physician examine your hand to avoid leaving a scar!" He Xue said.

"I understand! Mother still needs your help. She hasn't been feeling well lately, so it's best not to let her know!" The Fourth Prince was still quite worried about Consort Tongjia.

"Don't worry, Fourth Brother, I know what to do!"

"Alright. You should go back now! Otherwise, Mother will worry!" the Fourth Prince said to He Xue.

"I'm going back now, Fourth Brother, remember to see a doctor!" He Xue reminded him worriedly.

The Fourth Prince nodded, indicating that he understood.

When He Xue returned to Chengqian Palace, she saw He Zhu standing at the door, and knew that the Crown Prince must also be there. She still didn't know how to face the Crown Prince.

"Xia Bing, Nan Xing, you two come here!" He Xue beckoned to Nan Xing and Xia Bing.

"What are your orders, Princess?"

"I'm tired today and want to go home to rest. If your aunt asks, just say this, okay?"

Although Nanxing and Xiabing didn't know why He Xue was doing this, they still agreed, "Yes, Princess!"

When He Xue came in, she saw Consort Tongjia talking to the Crown Prince.

The Crown Prince had been keeping an eye on the movements outside the door. Whenever he heard someone greeting He Xue, he would look towards the door from time to time. Finally, He Xue walked in to his delight.

After entering, He Xue went to Consort Tongjia's side first, "Aunt!"

Then Xue bowed to the Crown Prince but did not speak.

The Crown Prince's heart sank. Was He Xue angry with him? Why was she ignoring him?

Just as the Crown Prince was about to speak, Consort Tongjia spoke first.

"Where did you go? Didn't you say you were going to see the Crown Prince?" Consort Tongjia asked.

“I went to play in the Imperial Garden and happened to run into the Eighth Prince, so I played with him for a while!” He Xue said, without mentioning why she didn’t go to see the Crown Prince.

When the Crown Prince heard that He Xue had been spending all her time with the Eighth Prince, he couldn't help but feel jealous. He had noticed that the Eighth Prince liked to cling to He Xue. He hadn't thought much of it before, but now that he knew how He Xue felt, he felt that everyone who appeared around He Xue had ill intentions.

"Hurry up and get ready, it's almost time to eat!"

"Auntie, I'm sleepy, I want to go to sleep!" Xue said, deliberately yawning.

"How about we eat first and then go to sleep? Otherwise, what if we get hungry at night?" Consort Tongjia said.

"Um... Aunt, I ate a lot of snacks at the Fourth Prince's place, so I'm not very hungry now. Shall I go to sleep first?" He Xue said, gently shaking Consort Tongjia's arm.

"Are you really tired?" Consort Tongjia asked. "Should we see the imperial physician?"

"He Zhu, go and summon the imperial physician!" the crown prince immediately said to He Zhu, who was standing outside the door.

"No need, He Zhu, there's no need to go see the imperial physician!" He Xue hurriedly stopped He Zhu. Whether she was sick or not, she would drink that bitter medicine soup if the imperial physician came. She didn't want to!

“Your Highness…” He Zhu looked at the Crown Prince with difficulty.

"Come back!" The Crown Prince knew that He Xue didn't like taking medicine, so he could only let He Zhu come back first.

"Auntie, I'm just sleepy, there's really nothing else!" He Xue assured her again.

"Alright, you go and rest first! By the way, why didn't your fourth brother come with you?" Consort Tongjia asked.

"Fourth Prince still has a lot of homework to do, so he asked me to tell you that he will come to pay his respects to you in a while, so that you won't blame him!" He Xue found a reasonable excuse for the Fourth Prince.

Consort Tongjia also knew about the Fourth Prince's visit to Yongshou Palace, and thought that the Fourth Prince must have said that because he was afraid of falling behind in his studies. "How could I blame him? Letting him focus on his studies is the most important thing!"

"Aunt is alright, I'm going back to my room!" He Xue didn't want to stay here any longer; she felt the Crown Prince's gaze was fixed on her.

"Go!" Consort Tongjia said to He Xue.

The Crown Prince watched helplessly as He Xue left. During the time he saw He Xue, she didn't give him a single glance or say a single word to him.

Even after talking to He Zhu, Xue didn't want to talk to him.

Consort Tongjia noticed the Crown Prince was lost in thought. "Baocheng, what's wrong?"

"It's alright, Mother Tong!" the Crown Prince immediately said.

Emperor Kangxi also came to Chengqian Palace for a meal. He saw only Consort Tongjia and the Crown Prince. "Why don't I see Hexue and Yinzhen? Didn't Hexue already enter the palace?"

"He Xue is probably too tired from playing today. She said she was sleepy, so I let her go back to her room to sleep!"

As for Yinzhen, he said he had a lot of homework to do, so he didn't come!

"So that's how it is. No wonder it was so quiet!" Kangxi said.

When Kangxi saw the Crown Prince, he remained silent. "Baocheng, what's wrong?"

"It's alright, Father Emperor. I was just thinking about what else I haven't dealt with today!" the Crown Prince said, rising to his feet.

"Don't rush if there's anything that hasn't been dealt with yet, let's have our meal first!" said Consort Tongjia.

Emperor Kangxi glanced helplessly at Consort Tongjia, "Cousin, a doting mother often spoils her son!"

"Your Majesty, people need food to survive; you'll get hungry if you skip a meal!"

"Cousin, where did you hear that from?" Kangxi asked with a smile.

"What Xue said makes a lot of sense to me!"

"Haha! This girl always has so many twisted logics!" Kangxi said with a loud laugh.

The Crown Prince was also smiling beside him. These words did indeed sound like something Xue would say. He really didn't know what was going through her little head.
