Chapter 439 Two Years Later (1)
In late spring, the grass is green and the birds are singing. A gentle drizzle of rain turns even the flowers into a moist red. The whole town is filled with the unique fragrance of spring, and even the wind and sand seem to have died down.
Raindrops dripped down the eaves, stirring up tiny puddles on the bluestone slabs. Each splash of clear water seemed pitiful and lovely. From the birdcage hanging from the beam, an oriole chirped, its clear call mingling with the patter of rain, more beautiful than the music of the finest musician.
At the end of the corridor, a young woman came running in a hurry. She was wearing a long, bright, peach-pink embroidered dress, a lovely color, but she was holding the hem of her dress with both hands as she rushed over, looking a little comical. She had tan skin and a lively, playful nature. As she rushed, she shouted, "Little cousin! Little cousin!"
"Sister, slow down!" The boy behind him yelled, "The ground is slippery, be careful not to fall!"
As soon as the words fell, the lively girl running in front stumbled and almost fell. Fortunately, she had some martial arts skills and was able to steady herself with a tap of her toes. She turned back angrily and complained to the young man, "Luo Qian, shut up!"
Luo Qian stuck out his tongue. Behind him, two slender figures appeared, and a dissatisfied voice rang out: "Luo Tan, if you look like this, you might not be able to get married."
"Brother Sa!" Luo Tan stamped her feet anxiously: "If I can't get married again, I'll marry Cousin Qiu!"
Luo Qian sneered and said, "Cousin Qiu will never be interested in a tigress like you."
"Luo Qian!" Luo Tan pretended to hit him.
"Alright, stop making trouble." The gentle young man walking at the end smiled and said, "Aren't you going to talk to your cousin? Come in."
After playing and joking, they went to the innermost courtyard and saw Bailu and Shuangjiang moving flowers and plants outside. When they saw them, they hurriedly said, "The girls are waiting for you in the house."
Luo Tan pulled aside the curtain and called out, "Little cousin!"
There was no incense in the room, but the maid had found a few sprigs of jasmine, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of the flowers. A young girl sat by the window, dressed in a deep blue brocade gown with a pattern of swans and emerald green patterns. The deep color didn't make her look old-fashioned at all, but instead made her skin appear as translucent as jade. A light raindrop pattered by the window. She heard the noise and looked up, revealing a face of exquisite beauty.
Her eyes were dark, her eyebrows were long, her lips were red, her teeth were rosy, and she was as captivating as a crescent moon. Strangely enough, this girl's features were incredibly delicate, like the morning glow reflecting on snow, evoking pity. Yet, her eyebrows were gently combed, and she possessed a sense of elegance. She seemed someone capable of withstanding greatness. Beneath that calm demeanor, a closer look revealed a hardness that was completely different from her appearance. She seemed fragile, yet she was incredibly strong.
She tilted her head and smiled, her eyes lively, which made people's hearts tremble. It seemed that with just a casual smile from her, this simple study became a palace made of carved jade, and she was the noble lady sitting on the high seat, looking down at everyone with a faint condescending gaze.
The people at the door were slightly startled. Even after seeing her many times, they were still occasionally struck by the girl's casual elegance. The ghostly aura lingered in her every move—perhaps that was what it meant.
After being stunned for a moment, Luo Tan was the first to react. He rushed in and said, "Little cousin, your dress looks really nice!"
After all, she is a girl. No matter how naughty and mischievous she is on a daily basis, her love for beauty is still the same. Shen Miao smiled slightly: "If you like it, just ask the tailor to make another one."
