Chapter 755: Emotion (4)
By the time Shen Miao “climbed” over the last wall and arrived at Prince Rui’s Mansion, Cong Yang was already so tired that he didn’t want to talk anymore.
Since they all entered from the backyard instead of the main gate, there wasn't even a single guard in the vast Rui Palace. Congyang also looked puzzled, as he had clearly not been so careless before.
Shen Miao was still observing the layout of the Rui Wang Mansion. It was indeed as magnificent as the legend said. It was just a temporary place to stay, but it was renovated so exquisitely. She had no idea how magnificent the real Daliang Imperial Palace would be. Just as she was thinking about it, a middle-aged man in black appeared in front of her.
"Iron Armor!" Cong Yang shouted, then asked, "Where are the others?"
The guard named Tieyi was stunned when he saw Shen Miao. He bowed to her and asked, "Miss Shen, is there something important that you are visiting me for?"
Shen Miao looked at the other person and thought he seemed to know her. Seeing Cong Yang greet him again, she guessed that he was Xie Jingxing's man, so she said, "I'm looking for Prince Rui. I have something to say."
Tieyi seemed to have known she would say that. He nodded and said, "The master is in the backyard. Follow me."
…
When winter in Mingqi gets cold, no one wants to walk outside. At night, the streets are even more deserted, with even birds, cats, and dogs huddled in their warm nests, unwilling to move.
The pond was frozen solid. Thick ice completely obscured the scenery within. The summer breeze had swayed lotus leaves, and koi fish frolicked in the garden; now, it was nothing but a vast expanse of white. It seemed that even the best of times would eventually fade, just as the flowers that bloomed in spring must eventually wither.
The young man in purple was sleeping lazily on the tree, his head supported by his hands. He did not take off the mask of sound on his face. There was a wind lantern hanging on the tree. Under the faint halo, his expression could not be described as bleak or happy, but just a little lonely.
Like the wind blowing through the trees, light and airy, yet cold and heavy. Quiet and silent.
The white tiger lay under the tree, scratching the trunk with its claws from time to time, and occasionally biting the icicles on the ground with its mouth. The "crunching" sound of its bites was particularly clear and audible in the night.
This was the scene that caught Shen Miao's eye as she entered. The sight of the young man and the white tiger sleeping reminded her of her past life, when she walked through the Imperial Garden late at night in the palace. Her eyes seemed to be filled with the laughter and joy of Fu Xiuyi and Madam Mei during the day. It was a bitter and endless walk.
The white tiger suddenly saw someone coming and immediately stood up, hunched over and looked at her warily, making a low warning howl. However, because it was too small, it didn't seem to have any deterrent effect, and the sound was just "humming", which was quite cute.
"Hush, Jiaojiao." Xie Jingxing said, "Be quiet."
Shen Miao: “…”
She walked to the tree, raised her head and looked at the person sleeping among the trees, and said, "Who are you calling?"
Xie Jingxing paused, then suddenly lowered his head. Seeing Shen Miao startled, he asked, “Why are you here?”
"I haven't finished talking in the princess's mansion yet, so I came over to take a look."
Xie Jing Xing glanced at her, but didn't come down from the tree. Instead, he chuckled and said, "Are you here because you care about me?"
“What you think is your business.” Shen Miao replied.
"Did you think I would be sad?" Xie Jingxing looked as if he had heard a joke, his expression becoming more amused: "How naive."
"That's the best if there isn't any." Shen Miao ignored his somewhat sarcastic words and spoke calmly.
Xie Jingxing stared at the sky and waved his hand lazily: "You go back, I'm fine."
