Chapter 35 The Right Balance

Chapter 35 The Right Balance

"Zhuzhu is so amazing." Lin Huaiyan praised softly.

As the heir of the Lin family, he joined the company early to gain experience.

He thinks about the problem from the perspective of capital.

In his eyes, people who are burdened with mortgages, car loans and family pressures are often the most stable in the workplace.

The burden of family makes them afraid to quit their jobs easily, and they cannot afford the blow of unemployment.

This is also one of the implicit rules that many companies prefer to hire men.

It has nothing to do with gender superiority or inferiority, it is purely because of their stability as the economic pillar of the family.

Of course, outstanding married women with children will face the same situation.

The burden of life has long since ground most people into the most obedient nails.

But these are too realistic, and Lin Huaiyan will not tell Mingzhu.

Lin Huaiyan just looked at her shining eyes gently.

Let her keep this innocent heart.

The car slowly stopped in front of Yunque Gate. The manager was already waiting respectfully at the door. "Ms. Ming, Mr. Lin, your private room is ready."

As soon as he stepped into the box, Lin Huaiyan skillfully placed Mingzhu's handbag on the exclusive bag rack.

He didn't need help from anyone, as he had done this many times.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, the setting sun dyed the entire river surface amber, and the cruise ship slowly passed by with its long golden tail.

"When do you plan to go abroad?" Lin Huaiyan asked as he pulled out a chair for Mingzhu.

"Wait a little longer," Mingzhu said after sitting down, "I want to spend a few more days with grandpa."

Lin Huaiyan nodded and poured her a cup of warm jasmine tea. The rich aroma rose between the two of them.

"I'll take you there then."

"Okay." Mingzhu took a sip of tea, her eyes lit up, and she pointed at the menu and said, "I want to try the new drunken shrimp today."

Lin Huaiyan smiled and nodded to the manager standing beside him.

He also added a few dishes that Mingzhu usually liked to eat.

As the manager was about to leave, he reminded us: "Cleaning the shrimps, removing the heads and shells, and using a sweeter sauce."

Mingzhu held her chin and watched him make every detail.

The door of the private room opened gently, and the waiter first brought Mingzhu's favorite honey-glazed lotus root slices.

The lotus root slices are coated with crystal syrup, which looks very appetizing.

Just as the waiter leaned over to put the plate down.

Mingzhu caught a glimpse of the face that she would never forget after seeing it once.

Cold white skin and slightly drooping eye corners.

And that indifferent look on his face that showed he had no interest in anything.

"It's you?" Mingzhu asked doubtfully.

Jiang Zhi then slowly raised his eyes.

His eyes were empty, not the kind of pretentious coldness.

It's a kind of weariness that comes from deep within.

The black hair hanging in front of the forehead makes the face look even paler and more distant.

Compared to the miserable look he showed when I first saw him.

Boys nowadays are too good-looking.

"Hello, Miss Ming." Jiang Zhi said the answer he learned during training, his voice very soft, "I still need to serve the dishes."

Jiang Zhi lowered his eyelashes, and his thick eyelashes cast a small shadow under his eyes.

His fingers rested on the edge of the tray, and the joints were distinct and a little bony.

After saying this, Jiang Zhi turned and left, his back looking thin.

Every move he made was precise, yet felt hollow.

Only a beautiful shell remains to complete the work.

Ignoring him, Mingzhu picked up a piece of lotus root slice, and the sweet and crispy taste spread on her tongue.

She narrowed her eyes in satisfaction and swayed her toes unconsciously.

"Who is he?" Lin Huaiyan couldn't help but ask.

"Ah, he hit my car last time, and now I'm his creditor."

Mingzhu answered casually and put another piece of lotus root into her mouth.

I briefly recounted the car accident that happened.

She herself couldn't explain why she had such a deep memory of a boy she had only met by chance.

Lin Huaiyan's heart suddenly tightened.

Let’s not talk about the boy’s outstanding looks for now.

The fact that Mingzhu would get out of the car and handle the matter personally was unusual enough.

Doesn't she always hate trouble the most?

Maybe even Mingzhu herself didn't notice it.

She is always particularly tolerant of people who meet her aesthetic standards.

And the boy just now was so beautiful that he was almost sharp.

If he didn't have a normal sexual orientation, even he would be moved by that face.

And that boy is perfect to be a rich man's plaything.

He looked cold and world-weary.

I wonder how much more beautiful it would be if that cold face could show some other expression.

"What's wrong?"

The crisp sound of Mingzhu biting off lotus root slices brought him back to his senses.

"You... nothing."

Lin Huaiyan swallowed the words back when they came to his lips.

He watched Mingzhu enjoy the food and finally didn't ask any more questions.

Lin Huaiyan's eyes darkened slightly.

When Jiang Zhi came to serve the dishes again, Lin Huaiyan looked at him among the six waiters.

He is very outstanding, but he always looks listless. He serves the dishes with quick movements, but his eyes are empty as if covered by a layer of fog.

Mingzhu was concentrating on eating and didn't talk to him anymore.

But Jiang Zhi obviously noticed Lin Huaiyan's scrutinizing gaze.

His eyes didn't move, his pupils shifted slightly, and he looked at Lin Huaiyan and said softly, "What's wrong, Mr. Lin?"

Lin Huaiyan shook his head: "It's okay."

Jiang Zhi didn't ask any more questions and never came in again after the dishes were served.

The setting sun outside the window gradually sank into the river.

After dinner, the manager handed over a list of activities: "Ms. Ming, Mr. Lin, Yunque has several activities tonight. Are you interested?"

Mingzhu glanced at the list.

But these are just some tricks that rich people use to kill time.

Helicopter tours from the rooftop helipad, tastings of million-dollar wines in the underground wine cellar, and special jewelry auctions.

She couldn't help but chuckle and turned to look at Lin Huaiyan: "You said these activities are for digestion after meals?"

Lin Huaiyan took the list and couldn't help laughing: "How about... helicopter sightseeing? Just think of it as a walk after dinner."

"No way," Mingzhu said, curling her lips and refusing bluntly, "The noise of the propeller is giving me a headache."

She turned and waved to the manager, "Just arrange a quieter tea room for us."

The manager immediately understood: "Please follow me. The rooftop tea room is ready for you two. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the entire city at night."

"Why do you suddenly like quiet environments?" Lin Huaiyan and Mingzhu followed the manager through the corridor to the tea room.

"I just fell in love with you suddenly." Mingzhu replied with a chuckle.

She no longer pursues excitement and luxury like she did when she was actually eighteen.

Nor is she obsessed with glamour and brilliance as she was at forty-two.

He has gotten rid of the impetuousness of his youth and the sharpness of his middle age.

She found the perfect balance between the two ages.

Lin Huaiyan didn't ask any more questions, but just smiled gently: "Whatever you like."

For him, it doesn’t matter what Mingzhu likes, what matters is that she is happy.
