In the warm and slightly mysterious restaurant, the lights cast softly on every corner, adding a touch of fantasy to this unusual family dinner.
Chuchu gently turned her delicate little head, her eyes like the brightest stars in the night sky, flickering on Chu Lei. A sly smile curled up at the corner of her mouth, and she muttered to herself: [This human cub doesn't look very smart.]
This thought flashed through her mind, and she quickly collected her thoughts. She walked slowly towards the dining table with the demeanor of a little adult, and each step seemed so steady yet childlike.
Chu Lei heard Chu Chu's inner voice and subconsciously exchanged a knowing look with his mother, Song Yaqing. Both of them knew clearly that the wonderful telepathy seemed to have quietly descended upon them again, allowing them to capture Chu Chu's delicate and subtle inner voice.
This ability not only surprised them, but also made them worried - after all, it was their common responsibility to protect Chuchu's secret and not let the outside world know.
"Because I'm also a bird, a double-headed bird. Have you heard of it?" Chuchu's voice was clear and melodious, like a mountain spring, instantly attracting everyone's attention. She held her hands behind her back, her face brimming with confidence and pride, as if she were revealing a secret that the whole world should know.
Gu Yechen followed closely behind, his eyes full of doting and curiosity towards Chuchu. He asked softly, as if afraid of disturbing this innocence: "Chuchu, what else do you want to eat? Uncle Gu will ask the kitchen to prepare it for you. Also, your story must be very exciting. Are you willing to share it with us?"
Chu Lei stood aside, his face filled with disbelief. He muttered softly, "Bird? Are you kidding me? How is this possible? Are you making this up again?"
Chuchu just smiled lightly, that smile hiding a bit of maturity and depth. She looked at Gu Yechen, a hint of doubt and inquiry flashing in her eyes: "Why are you uncle and not father? Or, don't you want to recognize me as your daughter?"
Hearing this, Gu Yechen felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He smiled gently and said, "If you like, I'd be very happy to call me dad."
Chuchu tilted her head, thinking seriously about the name "Dad", with curiosity and novelty flashing in her eyes: "Dad? Oh, yes, that's what humans call you. But why do I feel like I've seen you somewhere before? It seems like we knew each other a long time ago."
Gu Yechen smiled and asked, "Aren't you a human? Then how wonderful is your world?"
Chuchu finally sat down. The typical baby sitting posture looked particularly elegant and cute on her.
She explained to Chu Lei earnestly, "The Chongming Bird is an ancient mythical beast that lives in Jiayang Mountain. It's as famous as the Qilin clan and a symbol of auspiciousness and peace. With a lifespan of tens of thousands of years, we've witnessed the rise and fall of the human world."
Her voice was filled with pride in her identity and nostalgia for the past.
Chu Lei listened to these unprecedented strange stories, his eyes full of surprise and confusion: "Then...then can you transform? Like in the movies?" Although his question was a bit naive, it was full of children's unique curiosity and imagination.
Chuchu shrugged, a playful smile on her lips: "Of course, but that requires specific conditions and environment. Besides, why should I change for you to see?" Her answer was both naughty and a little arrogant, which made people laugh.
Chu Lei: “…”
Song Yaqing gently interrupted from the side: "Chu Chu, tell mom what you want to eat, and mom will ask the kitchen to prepare it for you."
Song Yaqing's voice is like a spring breeze, making people feel extremely comfortable.
Chu Chu looked around, her eyes flashing with desire for the delicacies of the world: "Everything here looks delicious. Isn't it said that there are a hundred flavors in the world? I want to try them all..."
Her answer was full of curiosity and desire to explore the unknown world.
Gu Yechen smiled and nodded: "I remember your mother said that you love braised pork the most. I will ask the kitchen to prepare it."
When Chuchu heard this, a trace of gratitude flashed in her eyes: "Do humans also say thank you?" There was a bit of childishness and innocence in her words.
Gu Yechen smiled and nodded: "Of course, we humans are very polite."
Chuchu then imitated humans and said cutely, "Thank you." At that moment, the restaurant was filled with warmth and laughter, as if even the air had become sweet.
Chuchu was warmly received at the Gu family and met Chu Fei, whom she hadn't seen for a long time, in the evening.
When Chu Fei heard that she was back, she rushed to the third floor.
Chuchu's room was meticulously decorated in a quiet corner on the third floor. The moonlight outside the window streamed in like water, adding a touch of dreaminess to the reunion scene. As Chu Fei entered, she opened her arms and smiled, wanting to give Chuchu a big hug. However, Chuchu gently leaned aside, avoiding him with a hint of doubt and distance.
"My...human friend, please keep some distance. Do we...really know each other?" Chu Chu's words were filled with uncertainty, and then she added, "I'm afraid I need to explain. I recently lost my memory, and many things have become blurry."
Upon hearing this, the light in Chu Fei's eyes dimmed a bit, but she quickly adjusted her mood and gently reminded him, "Chu Chu, I'm your sister. We've been through so much together. Remember? Last time you took me on an adventure to that mysterious demonic world? Also, my true form is the one-of-a-kind immortal flower in the underworld. Even in that dead and silent underworld, I'm a miraculous existence."
