Chapter 477 A good family

The Gu family's home is warm and full of laughter. The nights are always endowed with a special magic, as if time has slowed down here, making people unconsciously immersed in the warmth of family affection.

That evening, the Gu family's living room was brightly lit as the family sat together, enjoying their rare reunion. The conversation naturally shifted from Chu Chu's joy at her impending marriage to their youngest son, Chu Lei's, love life, adding a touch of lightness and anticipation to the evening.

Gu Yechen, a renowned elder in both the business and political circles, wore a rare smile, his eyes gleaming with hope for his children's future. "Xiaolei, if you can find someone you truly love, I'll be relieved," his words were filled with a father's deep love and concern for his son. "However, love ultimately depends on their own destiny. As elders, we can't force it, we can only silently wish them well."

As Gu Yechen finished speaking, the atmosphere in the room became more harmonious, and the conversation among the family members became more relaxed and cheerful. They talked about the little things in their lives, sharing their joys and sorrows, as if the whole world had stopped.

The next day, Chu Lei had just finished a busy day of company affairs and returned home tired.

What greeted him was a simple yet heartwarming midnight snack carefully prepared by his mother, Song Yaqing.

In the spacious and bright restaurant of the Gu family, Song Yaqing hesitated to speak several times, as if she had something to say but found it difficult to speak.

Seeing this, Chu Lei couldn't help but ask curiously, "Mom, just say whatever you want to say. I'm your son, how can I make you feel so uncomfortable?"

Song Yaqing smiled when she heard this, with a hint of tentativeness and expectation in her eyes: "Son, are you dating that Liu Wen? If you think it's appropriate, Mom would like to invite her to our house for dinner and let us elders meet her."

Chu Lei paused for a moment after hearing this, then explained, "Mom, how did you know? Liu Wen is now a diplomat and flies around a lot. She only occasionally invites me to dinner when she returns to Rongjing. We went to elementary school, so we're a little close, but that's all."

After hearing this, Song Yaqing's face flashed with disappointment, but she quickly regained her smile: "So, you are not still in a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship? Then don't you like her? Son, you are in such good conditions now. If you like her, then pursue her boldly. Don't miss such a good girl."

Chu Lei smiled and shook his head: "Mom, I'm almost 30 years old. I will naturally pursue the person I like. But Liu Wen and I are really just friends, and she already has someone to marry, who is also a diplomat."

Hearing this, Song Yaqing's disappointment was beyond words, but she still continued to ask: "Who is the girl you like? Mom can help you and give you some advice, right?"

Chu Lei smiled helplessly: "Mom, aren't you planning Chu Chu's wedding? Why is it my turn now?"

Song Yaqing stood up helplessly and glared at her son. "You know how much effort your sister put into getting married. You're also delaying marriage. Your eldest brother is the most filial. He worked, got married, and had children step by step. Everything is going smoothly."

Seeing this, Chu Lei had no choice but to beg for mercy: "Mom, I swear, I will find a girlfriend within two months, how about it?"

After hearing this, Song Yaqing felt a little comforted, but then she thought of Secretary Zhang in the company and said, "The young lady in the company is also fine. It will be convenient for you to go to and from get off work together."

When Chu Lei heard this, he immediately saw through his mother's intention and quickly refused: "No, this is definitely not possible. Work and life must be separated and cannot be mixed."

Song Yaqing thought about it and realized that this was indeed the truth, so she surrendered helplessly: "You agreed on two months, so it can only be two months. Don't find excuses to delay it later."

Chu Lei cleared the dishes and hid in the kitchen, not daring to make any more promises. He knew his mother was always worried about his marriage, but he also understood that love can't be forced; it takes fate and time to develop.

In the blink of an eye, the weekend arrived, and the Gu family welcomed another family gathering. Chu An arrived home early with his wife Ye Qian and son Chu Xiaolin, and Chu Fei also came with her husband Lin Ze.

Chuchu and Ronglin stood at the door, warmly welcoming every family member.

Chu Lei, on the other hand, was delayed by some trivial matters at the company and arrived late.

At the dinner table, Gu Yechen looked at the whole family, feeling a surge of emotion in his heart: "Twenty years have passed in the blink of an eye. When I first met you, Chuchu was only three years old and Chulei was only in the first grade of elementary school. Feifei and Anan were already seventeen years old at that time. Time flies."

Chu Xiaolin, this little guy who just turned three, looks very much like his older brother Chu An, with big eyes, long eyelashes, and a tall stature. He is very attractive at first sight. After hearing what his grandfather said, he asked curiously, "Grandpa, how old are you now?"

Seeing this, sister-in-law Ye Qian quickly stopped him: "Children should not ask adults their age, it is impolite."

Gu Yechen smiled and shook his head: "It's okay, Xiaolin. Grandpa is already 65 years old this year. When he met your grandma, he was 45 years old. Your grandma was 40 years old at that time. She was elegant, beautiful, and intelligent... Haha, we are all old now."

Song Yaqing smiled sheepishly when she heard this: "Why are you talking about this? The children are all here." But her eyes were filled with nostalgia for the past and anticipation for the future. She knew that no matter how time passed, the bond of family affection would never break.

At the dinner table, the family members continued chatting and sharing their daily lives. Chu Chu and Rong Lin talked about their joy and anticipation of getting married; Chu An and Ye Qian shared their experiences and joys of parenting; Chu Fei and Lin Ze discussed their work and daily lives.

Although Chu Lei has not found his other half yet, he feels the warmth and support of his family, which makes him full of confidence and expectations for the future.

Finally, they talked about Chuchu and Ronglin's marriage.

Rong Lin is now a colleague of Chu An.

Song Yaqing was the first to ask Chu An: "You are the eldest brother, so you should express your opinion first? Should we get married now, or wait until Xiao Lei gets married before Chu Chu gets married?"

Chu An had already prepared himself mentally, and came here today just for this matter.

"I think this is a matter between Chuchu and her. Wouldn't it be better for them to make the decision themselves?"

Song Yaqing retorted, "As a family, we should speak responsibly and not try to smooth things over."

Chu An immediately changed his tone: "It's not necessary to wait until Xiao Lei gets married, we can wait a little longer."

Song Yaqing looked at Chu Fei: "What do you two think?"
