Chapter 110 The Tank Arrives

When Xu Lanyue and the others arrived at the Mingyue Base, they could hardly believe their eyes.

The entire Black Tiger City was filled with the sounds of monsters lurking around, but when they saw the signs for the Bright Moon Base along the way...

Those ugly, foul-smelling monsters that drooled with stench had all vanished!

They stood on military trucks, holding rocket launchers, activating the energy from the crystal cores in their heads.

At first, the fighting was intense, with shells from the tanks bombarding the area.

Upon arriving at the Bright Moon Base, they took up their guns and went into battle, when suddenly all attacks ceased abruptly.

One of the long-necked monsters, a bit slow to react, wasn't angry at being hit by their bullets. He just slunk away, clutching his head which was now spinning from the bullet wound in his eye!

"Am I seeing things? These humanoid monsters seem afraid of us." one of the guards said.

Li Hao slapped him on the back of the head: "What are you thinking? We've only managed to hold out by hiding in heavy trucks and tanks all this way. I think these humanoid monsters are afraid of the Bright Moon Base behind us."

"No way, it's only been a few months. How could a small base of a civilian organization be more powerful than our base?" Someone shook his head in disbelief, hugged his gun, and sat back down in his original position.

Xu Lanyue sat in front of the car, lost in thought, her gaze fixed intently on the Mingyue Base sign on the road.

Gu Laomei is really amazing; she managed to mark the entrance to the Bright Moon Base all the way from the slaughterhouse in the east to a prestigious high school in the east.

The area is almost larger than the base they wanted.

"Deputy Captain Xu, seven Level 3 Winged Membrane Monsters have appeared in the sky above Mingyue Base and are flying towards our convoy. Should we fire?"

Teammate Wang Ping was monitoring the sky with binoculars when he saw a monster appear and immediately reported it.

Xu Lanyue took the binoculars and looked up. She saw the seven-headed winged membranous monster swooping down in their direction. Its four sharp fangs forced its black lips outwards, and its black eyes were as big as light bulbs.

Its claws are sharp, like eagle hooks magnified a hundred times, and they look like they could tear through sheet metal at a glance.

Xu Lanyue immediately stopped everyone from acting after reading this: "Don't disturb them yet. Although we have encountered level three winged membrane monsters these days and survived them, the number of winged membrane monsters was less than three at those times."

"Now there are seven winged membrane monsters. Our armored vehicles and tanks will probably be overturned by them, and the artillery fire will alert them, which will also be detrimental to the Bright Moon Base."

"Let me make a satellite phone call to Sister Gu first. If we join forces with the Bright Moon Base, we might be able to eliminate them more reliably."

He then dialed Gu Mingyue's satellite phone.

After listening to Xu Lanyue's passionate battle plan, Gu Mingyue chuckled and told them to come in without worry.

“Deputy Captain Xu, you can come in without worry. Those seven-headed winged membranous monsters have been mentally invaded by me and are now sky patrol monsters of the Bright Moon Base.”

"What? There were seven Level 3 Winged Membrane Monsters! And you managed to control them all?" Xu Lanyue couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.

After Gu Mingyue confirmed again that it was the result of her control, Xu Lanyue rubbed her face with her hands to calm down.

"Deputy Captain Xu, what did Miss Gu say? How does she want us to cooperate? Should we use fire to lure the people from Mingyue Base to the basement so they can safely hide there before we attack together?" Li Ping leaned closer and asked.

Xu Lanyue placed her hands on the steering wheel and said softly, "No need to cooperate or attack. Sister Gu told us to go in without worry. She has controlled the winged monster and it won't attack us."

Wang Ping and the other team members had rocket launchers strapped to their shoulders, ready to fire, but Xu Lanyue wiped her face and told them not to attack!

During the month they fought wits and courage against the humanoid monsters, and were often ambushed by level three winged membranous monsters during the day.

If it weren't for the fact that they wanted the tanks and heavy trucks at the base to be sturdy enough, these level one and two superhumans would have been captured and swallowed by them long ago.

There are still scratches left by the wing membrane monster on those military trucks and tanks!

"Damn, Miss Gu is amazing! She can control seven Level 3 Winged Membrane Monsters. Our Hope Base hasn't even captured a single living Winged Membrane Monster yet, and she can control seven of them at once."

The others also looked up in shock, their eyes fixed on the winged monsters with their seven-meter-long wings spread in the sky, and found that the winged monsters really did not attack them.

They simply flew over them, glanced down a few times, and then flew back to the Bright Moon Base. They showed no greed for flesh and blood whatsoever, and their expressions were blank, just like puppets that only patrolled!

No wonder other humanoid monsters don't dare to approach. Gu Mingyue can easily control even a level three winged membrane monster, let alone these!

Entrusted by Gu Mingyue, Wei Jianguo sat in the newly built tower early to wait for the people from Hope Base to arrive. He saw ten tanks and dozens of green military trucks driving towards their Mingyue Base.

He quickly put down the red tea in his hand, got up, and led his men to greet them.

When Xu Lanyue arrived at the base gate, she saw a half-gray-haired man standing at the entrance, looking very energetic, to greet them.

To their even greater surprise, one of their team members, a psychic, discovered that Wei Jianguo was a middle-aged man without any special abilities.

It's important to understand that even in Hope Base, due to limited safe space and resources, elderly people of this age are often left to fend for themselves in the outer city.

Xu Lanyue had been to the outer city a few times. It was dirty and chaotic, and everyone relied on black worm cakes to survive. Young men and women could barely make ends meet, but elderly people in their fifties would almost be automatically eliminated.

The fact that the Bright Moon Base can keep a gatekeeper so well shows they must have some resources!

Wei Jianguo had no idea that Xu Lanyue and the others had mistaken him for a gatekeeper. He was just leading them into the base, and he was already feeling uneasy under the gaze of these young people.

He couldn't help but wonder to himself, what kind of quirk do these people at Hope Base have? Why are they staring at an old man's face like that?

When Gu Mingyue brought Jiang Shenglin to the city gate, Wei Jianguo was finally freed from those burning gazes.

Then, to their even greater astonishment, he rode away on a lithe, mutated black panther.

"Holy crap! This old man can actually tame a mutated black panther, am I seeing things?"

Xu Lanyue, who held the title of vice captain, nudged Li Hao with her elbow, telling him not to make a fuss.

Then, with a hearty laugh, he shook hands with Gu Mingyue, who was walking towards him from a distance.

We hope the base will complete the handover of the tanks and rocket launchers as promised.

Gu Mingyue instructed Yang Zhong and the others to store the weapons inside the air-raid shelter, and then returned Jiang Shenglin intact.

"You've had a long and arduous journey, and you've also had to fight off monster attacks. Why don't you stay at our base tonight and rest, and leave tomorrow?"

Everyone agreed and waited until Gu Mingyue left to arrange a welcome banquet.

They then surrounded Jiang Shenglin, showering him with concern and care.
