Chapter 185 Workers' Dormitory

Gu Mingyue and the other two gradually approached the coal yard.

The heavy snow was like fog, and from a distance, you couldn't see the specific situation. All you could see was a vast expanse of white and the outlines of some large buildings.

Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the areas where the coal miners lived were surrounded by more than a dozen level-four spiked monsters.

Dark, spiked, humanoid monsters leaped and bounded among the row of single-story dormitories.

The spinning spikes drilled many small holes in the walls, making a sound like an electric drill.

However, there should be a few superhumans hiding in those row of dormitories.

Gu Mingyue saw a layer of golden wall exposed inside the drilled-through wall, indicating that a metal-type ability user had added another layer of metal wall inside.

Otherwise, this thin wall would have been drilled through by these destructive level four spike monsters long ago.

They probably heard the crunching sound of people walking through the snow.

The level four spiked monsters all stopped drilling, stretched out the spikes on their heads, and turned around to look at the source of the unusual sound.

Upon seeing three unfamiliar humans suddenly appear in the vast white snowfield, they realized they were real people.

The spiked monsters instantly licked their lips excitedly and charged towards the three of them with howls.

"It seems there's no more sound of the spiked monster drilling outside."

The survivors hiding in the workers' dormitory noticed the incessant buzzing around them suddenly stop and said in surprise.

"Ah Wei, look out through that little crack," a strong, bald man said, pointing at a long-faced, skinny man.

"Three strangers have come outside, and these spiked monsters have all gone after them," the man named Awei reported after peering through the crack and observing the situation outside.

"Huh? Should we go help them? We're trapped here anyway, and if we team up with the people outside, maybe we can wipe out the humanoid monsters outside too!" a dirty woman said.

"Ah Feng, quickly put away your saintly heart," someone disagreed.

“Help them? There are only three of them. What good will it do to help them?” The man glanced at the woman who spoke and said disdainfully, “We might as well reinforce the metal walls in the house while those humanoid monsters are eating them.”

"Once those spiky monsters have finished eating the people outside, they'll start crawling into our house walls again."

“Yes, Ah Feng, let’s not worry about them. Let’s take care of ourselves,” another person said.

A woman named Ah Feng crossed her arms, disagreeing with their ideas, but she was the only woman there and was being called a saint, so there was no point in saying anything more.

But she's been trapped here for the past few days. She's had enough of being trapped. It's better to go out and try her luck than to hide here. This place is like a huge coffin wrapped in layers upon layers of cloth. Sooner or later, she'll suffocate inside.

The group originally lived far from here, but the temperature suddenly dropped, and monsters attacked, devouring all the members of their base, leaving only the thirteen of them.

One of them had worked in this open-pit coal mine. He said that since the base had been disbanded anyway, he might as well come to this mine with him. There was coal here, so he wouldn't freeze to death.

Ah Feng and her brother discussed it and figured that having coal would at least prevent them from freezing, so they came over.

Everything was fine at first, but then they took in a few more people, who attracted the Level 4 Spiked Monsters that were wandering around nearby. The highest level of everyone's superpowers was only Level 3, so they were no match for these Level 4 Spiked Monsters. They couldn't escape either, and in the end, they were trapped here and couldn't get out.

Ah Feng felt that they should team up with the outsiders to attack the level four spiked monster; being trapped meant certain death. She tugged at her brother's arm, trying to get him to side with her.

"Ah Feng, stop fooling around and hurry up and repair the wall." Her brother did not agree with Ah Feng's idea. Their base had thousands of people. If they encountered those level four or five monsters, they would die anyway. Staying here would at least give them a couple more days of life. Going out would mean certain death.

The trapped people had no hope for the three people outside, only guessing that they might be survivors who had lost their homes like them.

The metal, earth, and ice elemental ability users are all working hard to repair the wall. They have been trapped here for several days without seeing the light of day, and they have to repair the wall every day, so their energy is being consumed very quickly.

"Ah Feng, ripen some vegetables, I'm hungry," the bald man said after repairing the wall.

He's the only metal-type ability user here, and we always let him eat first.

But this time, Ah Feng, whom he had specifically pointed out, did not bring out vegetables and fruits as usual.

The bald man immediately became unwilling. Through the beam of light from some small ventilation holes, he walked up to Ah Feng and said, "I told you to bring out some vegetables to replenish my energy. Are you deaf?"

"Do you know that you're all alive because of me?" the bald man said, shoving Ah Feng's shoulder.

"Of course, we all live because of you, Brother Jin." Ah Feng's brother fawned over the bald man's hand that was gripping Ah Feng's shoulder. "Hehe, my sister is just bored being locked up here, don't take it to heart."

The bald man surnamed Jin was quite pleased with Ah Feng and her brother's flattery. He let go of their hand, crossed his arms, and waited for Ah Feng to hand him food.

“I won’t take it. I think you just enjoy the life here where you’re the center of attention, that’s why you won’t let us leave.”

Ah Feng shouted, "This staff dormitory is now half the size. We can't even stretch out at night. I don't believe you don't know that staying here is just waiting to die."

"Heh, then go out and die. You want to be eaten by monsters? I don't." Someone mocked. Everyone was extremely irritable after being besieged for days.

"Ah Feng! Don't act like a child. Quickly bring out the food. Don't make Brother Jin angry," Ah Feng's brother said, frowning.
