Chapter 50 Two Sausages

The man, whose shoulder was grazed by a bullet, looked in the direction his companion had left and wanted to move to run after him, but when he heard the woman's indifferent voice from upstairs, he instinctively stopped.

He looked up and met the woman's eyes, which held the ferocity of a wild beast, and the dark muzzle of a gun pointed directly at his heart. He shuddered and hurriedly covered his scraped shoulder, helplessly running upstairs.

"Don't be afraid, I'm a good person," Gu Mingyue said with a smile, but she didn't put down the gun in her hand.

"You're also one of Qi Wei's men?"

The young man nodded slightly, then quickly shook his head.

"Understood. No need for excuses. Throw these bodies downstairs and wipe them clean with your clothes, and I won't kill you," Gu Mingyue said, pointing her gun at the corpses on the ground.

Upon hearing this, the man calmed down, his trembling stopped, and he obediently threw the bodies out the window.

Monsters that came out to hunt in the darkness came running at the sound and began to devour the prey.

The terrifying screams could be heard even from the 17th floor.

Seeing that the man had wiped the floor until it shone, and that his eyes were docile, seemingly without any fear or resistance, Gu Mingyue felt a surge of curiosity.

"You wiped it so clean, aren't you afraid of dying?"

The man obediently continued mopping the floor without looking up.

"You're not someone who kills indiscriminately, and if you killed me, who would you hire to clean the floor?"

When the man came up, he saw the fire axes in the hands of the men, and the naked corpse of a boy on the ground. He recognized the dead men; they were all devils who had become utterly wicked after the apocalypse, and their deaths were not unjust. By comparison, he could guess what had happened.

“That makes sense.” Gu Mingyue glanced at the man’s face, which was so thin it was almost unrecognizable, and then took out two sausages from her pocket and threw them at the man’s feet.

"One stick to compensate for your shoulder injury, and one stick as a reward for your good work mopping. Now you can leave!"

"By the way, that Qi Da Lian, I advise you to stay away from him. He's a liar, and following him won't do you any good."

Without waiting for the man's reply, she went straight back to the 17th floor and locked the fire door from the inside again.

The man saw two sausages on the ground, then looked up and glanced in the direction the woman had left.

Although the woman shot and injured him, he suddenly felt that this beautiful woman was really a good person!

Resources are so scarce right now, both people and monsters are eating them, yet she still gave him two sausages, just because he moved a few corpses.

He had long since ignored the gunshot wound; these days, it's common for one or two people to die, and it's something to be thankful for if you're caught and don't die.

Seeing that it was really safe, he involuntarily secreted acidic saliva, even though it was just the most ordinary chicken sausage in the mall.

He used to hate its cheap artificial flavoring, but now he couldn't wait to pick up the sausage from the ground.

His hands were trembling slightly. He didn't know if it was because he hadn't eaten for three days and was too weak, or because he was too excited to see the sausage. He couldn't even tear open the packaging.

In his desperation, he simply bit open the packaging with his teeth, and the rich flavor of chicken sausage immediately filled his mouth, making him almost forget the pain in his shoulder.

His appetite was whetted, and he was secreting acid. Tell him that one sausage cannot relieve three days of hunger.

The man stared at another sausage, picked it up and put it down again, pondered for half a minute, and finally restrained his strong desire to eat it, putting the sausage in his pocket.

His parents died, he had just graduated and was not married. All that was left in his family was his younger brother who was in elementary school and hadn't eaten in a long time. He was at the age where he was craving food, but he had to suffer from hunger and thirst with his useless older brother in the apocalypse.

He wanted to take the sausage back for his younger brother to eat.

He wondered how happy his younger brother would be to see this sausage. Just imagining his brother excitedly hugging the sausage brought a bittersweet but satisfied smile to his lips.

He clutched his shoulder and ran back quickly.

When I got to my door, I had just opened it when I heard the sound of a door opening downstairs.

He lives on the 13th floor, and room 1201 downstairs is where Qi Wei lives.

He quickly closed the door, called his younger brother, and took out the sausages.

"It smells delicious..." The younger brother looked at the sausage with surprise, and was about to scream excitedly when the man covered his mouth.

"Shh, keep your voice down, don't let anyone hear!"

Two streams of hot tears immediately streamed down the younger brother's dusty face. He nodded, then twisted the two ends of the sausage with his fingers and tore it in half.

“Brother has already eaten. You can smell it if you don’t believe me.” The man opened his mouth and breathed out, and the younger brother immediately stopped crying and laughed, wrinkling his nose and saying, “Brother’s breath stinks.”

"You brat, you dare to complain about your older brother? I knew I shouldn't have brought it back for you."

Upon hearing this, the younger brother quickly stuffed the sausage into his stomach.

Bang bang bang!

A knocking sound suddenly came from outside the door.

The smiles on the two brothers' faces vanished instantly, replaced by expressions of panic.

"Open the door! I heard you close it. You're back? Why didn't you let me know? Don't you respect me, Qi Wei?"

A rough male voice came from outside the door.

The man quickly stuffed his younger brother into the bedroom closet and then opened the window to air out the smell.

Thinking of what the woman upstairs had said, he initially didn't want to open the door, but then he thought of Li Wei's status as a superhuman and his prestige in the building, and he felt timid.

Since we're people who see each other all the time, I could only open the door with a heavy heart.

"Boss... Boss." The man said, trembling. Despite being the great hero who cleared out the monsters in the stairwell, he didn't dare to look Qi Wei in the eye.

Qi Wei was already very annoyed that he took so long to open the door. Seeing the man looking so wronged, he immediately grabbed his shoulder and pushed him to the ground.
