Chapter 126 Disparity (2/2)

Shen Xianjun brought the sweet soup back into the house. Yang Yufen followed him into the kitchen, still a little worried, to see what was prepared for dinner. There was a bowl of tomatoes with sugar and noodles. Noodles would be a good choice on a day like this.

"Boil two more eggs for Niannian."

After Yang Yufen finished speaking, she went to the chicken coop in the backyard, feeling uneasy if she didn't take a look.

Inside the room, Qin Nian was talking to Professor Wen.

"Don't worry about the child. I haven't been busy these past few days, so you can leave the child in my care. You really should go back with your mother-in-law to visit her grave. How many days will it take for you to return?"

"Including the journey, it should take eight to ten days to get back."

Qin Nian had calculated that the round trip by car would take about four days, and since her mother-in-law rarely went back, she would definitely stay for a few days as well.

"That's not a long time. Go back and take good care of your mother-in-law during this time."

Professor Wen thought for a moment and said that the child could eat in the cafeteria, and she could reschedule her classes with someone.

"Madam, I want to buy a house for my mother-in-law."

Qin Nian looked outside the door; no one was there. Then she spoke.

"Why did you suddenly decide to buy a house?"

Professor Wen was taken aback upon hearing this.

“When my mother-in-law spoke before, I felt that she probably wanted me to spend more time with Xianjun and the children and didn’t want to bother us, so she was thinking about going back to the countryside.”

Qin Nian shared her thoughts with Professor Wen.

"But Xianjun and I have special jobs, so we can't be like ordinary couples. I think we're very happy now. We respect each other and can each do our own thing. Our child is also growing up slowly. All of this is thanks to my mother-in-law. With her around, I feel at ease doing whatever I want."

Professor Wen nodded slightly upon hearing this.

“The houses my mother-in-law bought for me before are all registered in my name. It wouldn’t be good to transfer them. It would be better to buy a new house for her, preferably one that is close by. My mother-in-law likes farming, so it would be best if it were a house like the ones in our family compound.”

“You want to buy a house for your mother-in-law and then leave her here. I think that’s a good idea. I’ll take care of the house for you.”

I think your mother-in-law is just used to being busy her whole life, and she feels uneasy when she has free time. Now that the children are older, they need to go to school and have their own playmates, so they're not as clingy to the adults anymore. It's understandable that your mother-in-law feels a sense of loss.

Professor Wen also sensed this. She still frequently goes to teach students, but it's the same thing. If she really wasn't allowed to teach, she would feel too idle.

“I think if your mother-in-law had something to do, she probably wouldn’t think so much. She’s very good at carpentry, and she seems very interested in the many ancient buildings that are being restored.”

"Wouldn't that be too tiring?"

Qin Nian was worried.

"It's not that I want her to make money, it's just that she's thinking about doing things herself. The more she sees and experiences, the more people she meets, and the more open-minded she becomes. Your mother-in-law has been taking care of your children all these years, and she's stayed here all this time. It really hasn't been easy for her."

"Then I'll have to trouble you, Master's wife."

Qin Nian knew she didn't have time to look for a house.

"It's nothing. We're family, so let's not be formal. Your mother-in-law has helped take care of Xiaobao and Zhenghao over the years and has been a great help to us."

Qin Nian and Professor Wen had agreed on the house purchase, but fearing that Yang Yufen would overhear, they turned away and started talking about other things.

"Yufen, you go back the day after tomorrow, and I'll rest tomorrow too. I'll go with you to buy some local specialties from Beijing tomorrow."

"Okay, I was thinking of buying some things tomorrow too."

Yang Yufen nodded.

"Grandma, we want to go too!"

When Li Wu learned that Yang Yufen and the others were going back to their hometown, he immediately started making a fuss, and Li Wen also stared longingly at his grandmother.
