Chapter 241 Qin Nian Attends to the Ailing (2/2)

When Yang Yufen saw her daughter-in-law arrive, covered in dust and grime, with one leg still dangling, she could only manage a forced smile.

"Why are you back? Please have a seat."

"Mom, does it hurt a lot?"

I didn't ask my mother-in-law why she didn't tell me; I knew without even thinking that it was because she was afraid of affecting them.

"It hurt a few days ago, but it's much better now. I've just been lying in bed with nothing to do, so I hired a caregiver. Have you eaten yet?"

"I ate in the car. I took the day off, so Mom doesn't need to worry."

Qin Nian stood guard and saw the caregiver carrying food in from outside. Qin Nian took the food from her, then got a handkerchief to wipe Yang Yufen's hands clean and set up the small table.

The food looked pretty good, and the caregiver my sister-in-law found was very attentive.

"Your wife is so good; she puts aside her work to take care of you."

The caregiver praised it.

"That's right, I'm just afraid of troubling them. My daughter-in-law is a woman who can handle big things, managing both the household and the outside world, and she's also good at raising children."

Yang Yufen was not at all modest in praising her daughter-in-law.

Yang Yufen told the caregiver to go and rest as well, and then she had a proper talk with Qin Nian.

"You see, the caregiver is doing a good job and taking good care of me. Just take a look and that's enough. I'm not the kind of person who has to put up with hardship. Don't let it interfere with your work."

“It won’t be a problem. As your son, you’ve always handled everything for me without complaint whenever I needed your help. It would be wrong of me to ignore you now that you’re in this condition. Work matters can be resolved by phone. I’ll take care of you until you’re discharged from the hospital. We’ll hire two housekeepers then, one to take care of your daily needs and the other to clean the house.”

"You were with Xianjun, so why did you come back alone?"

Unable to argue with her daughter-in-law, Yang Yufen thought of her son.

“Xianjun is away for further studies, and it’s too troublesome to contact him. Mom, don’t worry too much. Just focus on recovering. I’ll also have the house renovated during this time.”

Yang Yufen thought about it and realized it made sense. She had bought the house but hadn't done any renovations. She had just bought some basic furniture and had left it unused.

"Okay, Mom, we have a caregiver here, so you don't need to stay with her all the time."

Yang Yufen tried to persuade her again, but Qin Nian went to fetch warm water to wipe Yang Yufen's body.

Qin Nian's mother-in-law is very clean and keeps the place spotless while taking care of two children on her own. Even with a caregiver, Qin Nian still noticed some details these past few days.

She wiped Yang Yufen's body, then took nail clippers to trim her nails. Qin Nian left only after Yang Yufen had fallen asleep.

Yang Yufen opened her eyes after Qin Nian left.

Yang Yufen stayed in the hospital for eighteen days, and Qin Nian took care of her for fifteen days.

Over the next fifteen days, the villa renovation team widened and paved the path leading from the front door to the house, and knocked down a section of the steps at the entrance to create a ramp.

The entire first floor, including all the areas prone to bumping and knocking, was covered up, and handrails were installed from the bedroom to the bathroom.

Two housekeepers were working: one was cleaning the house, and the other was cooking.

"Mom, the first floor has been simply renovated. You can stay here for now. The telephone has also been installed. You can call me anytime if you need anything."

"Okay, don't worry. I've already taken up most of your time. Go back and focus on your work."

"Don't worry, Miss Qin, we will take good care of the old lady. We will make sure that someone stays by her side 24 hours a day and take her out for a walk and some sunshine every day."

Qin Nian hired two people with high salaries, requiring them not only to be efficient but also to have the strength and know how to take care of people.

The two aunties knew the host's identity and dared not be negligent in the slightest, especially when the two neighboring families came to visit. They spoke gently, but were also subtly warning them.
