“You already know everything else, but I’ve noticed you’re always buying things for your daughter-in-law, so I think this might come in handy.”
The sales clerk led Yang Yufen to a corner and took out a small bag.
"This is what women use during their period. It costs seven cents a pack and contains sixteen pieces."
Yang Yufen was stunned for a moment. She had really forgotten about this. Yang Yufen frowned, and the saleswoman felt a little uneasy.
"Pack, pack twenty packs."
Yang Yufen did a quick mental calculation. Women will have lochia after childbirth, so it's always better to prepare more than less, since it's a light substance anyway.
"Okay, okay."
Yang Yufen didn't even blink when she took out her money.
After Yang Yufen left, the sales clerks kept looking at her with envy.
"I really want to ask Aunt Yang if she has any sons left. This isn't like raising a daughter-in-law; even her own daughter wouldn't receive this treatment!"
Aunt Liu had also finished buying her things, and when she saw Yang Yufen's big bag, it was wrapped up very tightly.
"What did you buy? You bought so much! Quick, let's go back."
Aunt Liu was afraid that someone would rob her.
Upon hearing this, Yang Yufen didn't hesitate and pedaled the tricycle as fast as she could, as if the wind was blowing under her feet.
Only Aunt Liu and Aunt Wang got used to it and didn't think anything of it. Passersby on the street thought they were seeing things.
Yang Yufen sorted and put away the things she had bought into Qin Nian's large cabinet, then went to the backyard to catch and kill a chicken.
If we don't kill them now, our daughter-in-law won't have anything to eat during her postpartum period. It's better to kill more now so our daughter-in-law can eat them.
Spring arrives just as soon as it's mentioned.
The drizzle was quite bothersome, but the earth's bounty was exceptionally abundant.
Qin Nian's belly was swollen and quite frightening, so the news of twins could no longer be kept secret.
"These are earthworm dumplings, how about it?"
Yang Yufen and everyone else went to gather wild vegetables.
"Enjoy it, Mom. Thank you for your hard work."
Qin Nian now misses her mother-in-law's cooking the most every day after get off work.
The research institute no longer allows lunch deliveries, especially when Qin Nian is working; it's so restricted that unauthorized personnel are not allowed to approach.
"I'm glad you like it. Let's go for another check-up whenever you have some free time."
Yang Yufen remembered every little thing about Qin Nian clearly.
"Mom, didn't we just have a check-up last time?"
"Your twins are different, and you're busy with work, so you can't neglect your checkups. You have to listen to your doctor."
Qin Nian nodded upon hearing this.
After finishing the dumplings, I drank a bowl of chicken soup and felt completely full.
There were more things in the cabinet, and Qin Nian saw them too, but she didn't have time to look through them. She felt sleepy after eating, so she quickly washed up and lay down.
"The child is developing very well, there are no problems."
After receiving confirmation from the doctor, Yang Yufen felt much better.
Qin Nian only managed to spare two hours.
Yang Yufen took the person back to the research institute and started washing and cleaning while the weather was nice.
Baby blankets and clothes need to be washed and dried. I made them before and kept them in the closet, but they're not suitable for washing in winter.
There wasn't enough bamboo in the yard to dry things, so Yang Yufen went and cut two more bamboo stalks.
So we washed and dried them, washing them before sunrise and taking them in before sunset each day. We couldn't wash them on rainy days, and February quietly slipped away.
