Wang Shuo didn't return until midnight, and his expression was very bad.
What happened?
"The sudden hailstorm destroyed the entire experimental field. We managed to salvage some seedlings, but there wasn't enough time to repair the large areas. How are things at home?"
Wang Shuo was worried about both the fields and his home. He rushed home as fast as he could, but when all was lost, he hurried back home.
"With your godmother's help, the roof is all done."
"That's good, Mom. I probably won't be back for a few days. I have to rush back now; I'll try to salvage whatever I can..."
Wang Shuo was heartbroken when he thought about his experimental sweet potatoes this year. The hail damaged the seedlings, and the sweet potatoes in the field could not be saved after the ice melted.
"Are you short-staffed?"
Wang Shuo nodded, hurriedly returned, and then hurriedly left again.
Yang Yufen was still awake, clearing away the hailstones with the thought that she could save as much as she could, when she heard the noise from next door.
"You're still awake?"
When Granny Wang came out carrying a kerosene lamp, she saw Yang Yufen.
"I feel so upset that I can't sleep."
"Me too."
Aunt Wang sighed.
"Why don't we go help?"
Yang Yufen suddenly spoke up, thinking of how the large area of crops had been destroyed by hail, and how it would be really bad if they were soaked for too long.
“Okay, let’s go get the sickle. I’ll tell Yao Yao to keep an eye on Miao Miao.”
"I'll go get a flashlight. Do you have one at home?"
Yang Yufen quickly spoke up.
"have."
The two old ladies were incredibly efficient. They put on their rubber boots, packed their sickles and flashlights into their baskets, and were ready to head out.
“Come on, you carry the light, I’ll ride it. Let’s go straight to the experimental fields of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, which is the closest.”
Yang Yufen pushed her bicycle out, and Aunt Wang carried the basket on her back.
Where are you going?
In the middle of the night, Commander Liao saw a light come on and saw Yang Yufen and the other person. He quickly asked them a question.
"We're going to help with the harvest. The children are at home, so please keep an eye on them when you're on your rounds, Brother Liao. We'll be going now."
After Yang Yufen finished speaking, she pushed off with her foot and walked away.
From afar, you could see the beams of flashlights flickering in the experimental fields, all indicating a rush to harvest.
Yang Yufen went over with Aunt Wang.
"We're here to help with the harvest. Once all of these are cut down, will someone come to haul them away?"
"Yes, yes, thank you so much."
The person in the field looked up and saw a young child.
Yang Yufen and Aunt Wang each secured their flashlights, then bent down and began to work.
Yang Yufen, an old farmer, was quick and efficient, and soon she had cut off a large section of the field. Everyone in the field was silent, just working diligently until the sky began to lighten.
"Godmother? What are you doing here?"
Wang Shuo was stunned when he suddenly saw Yang Yufen.
"Not only am I here, but your mother is here too. Go and see your mother first."
Yang Yufen rubbed her lower back; it had been too long since she had been so active during the harvest season.
These experimental fields are all in separate plots, so they can't be mixed up. The situation is special; they've all been damaged in the ground, and the harvesters can't harvest them.
Yang Yufen discovered that there were actually many people who came to help.
These mature ones can be harvested, although it's a bit of a hassle, but there's no way to save those that have just sprouted.
Wang Shuo quickly found his mother.
"Mom, why did you come with your godmother? You must be exhausted."
