Chapter 418: Ointment (Scenario 4)

Chapter 418: Ointment (Scenario 4)

The scar was like a tiny needle, piercing Gu Xi unexpectedly.

He suddenly remembered what Li Ming had said before: "I was very withdrawn in my first year of high school" and "a weirdo"...

Some vague thoughts flashed through my mind uncontrollably.

He subconsciously looked at Shen Xiangyang’s face.

And Shen Xiangyang obviously realized it. He quickly pulled down his sleeve as if he was scalded, covering the scar, and stood up suddenly with the book in his arms.

Shen Xiangyang still didn't look at Gu Xi, but just lowered his head and squeezed out a hoarse "thank you".

He carried the pile of heavy materials and walked quickly towards the classroom without looking back.

The boy's back showed a look of embarrassment that he tried hard to hide.

Gu Xi still maintained the bent posture, holding the last piece of draft paper he picked up in his hand.

He looked at Shen Xiangyang's almost fleeing back, then looked down at his hands. The touch of the slightly cool skin and scars just now seemed to still be on his fingertips.

The almost inaudible "thank you" was like a small stone thrown into Gu Xi's restless heart, stirring up circles of unfamiliar ripples.

Gu Xi made an irritable "tsk" sound and crumpled up the piece of draft paper into a ball. However, he paused before throwing it into the trash can. Then, he unfolded it as if possessed by a ghost and stuffed it into his pocket.

Afternoon self-study class.

Shen Xiangyang was concentrating on solving a problem when a small, square cardboard box suddenly slid over from the "38th Parallel" with a bit of hesitation and force, and stopped precisely next to his open exercise book.

Shen Xiangyang paused his pen.

It was a brand new, unopened...blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing plaster.

The box is very ordinary and can be found everywhere in drug stores.

Shen Xiangyang’s gaze was fixed on the medicine box for several seconds.

He slowly raised his head and looked to the other side of the line.

Gu Xi was lying on the table, facing the opposite direction, with the back of his head facing him, but one of his ears was suspiciously red.

He seemed to be asleep, breathing evenly, but his slightly stiff shoulders revealed that he was awake at the moment.

Gu Xi had no words, no explanation, and not even eye contact. There was only the cold 38th parallel and a plaster box on the line that was out of place and had an awkward temperature.

Shen Xiangyang looked at the medicine box, then looked at the back of Gu Xi's head which was covered with the words "Don't look at me, it's none of my business". For the first time, a slight crack appeared in his cold eyes.

He was silent for a long time.

It was so long that Gu Xi almost thought he was going to throw the medicine box back, when Shen Xiangyang suddenly stretched out his hand and touched the small paper box with his fingertips.

He didn't pick it up immediately, but just touched it lightly with his fingertips, as if to confirm its authenticity.

A few more seconds passed...

Chen Xiangyangqi slowly picked it up and put it in the innermost part of his drawer.

He didn't say thank you.

But Gu Xi's tense shoulders seemed to relax a little imperceptibly.

The box of plaster lying deep in the belly of Shen Xiangyang's desk was like a small stone thrown into stagnant water. Although the ripples it caused were small, they quietly changed something.

The 38th parallel between the two people is still eye-catching, but the suffocating atmosphere in the air seems to have become more harmonious.

Physics class.

Teacher Wang announced that the school will be holding an innovative physics competition for high school sophomores.

This competition requires students to form groups of two and complete a small project that is both theoretical and practical. They must submit a report and present it two weeks later, and their results will be included in the final evaluation.

As soon as the news came out, the classroom became lively.

Students who were on good terms quickly paired up. Gu Xi lazily leaned back in his chair and was about to wink at Li Ming to form a team when Teacher Wang's voice rang out again, with unquestionable authority: "Taking into account the overall level of the class and their complementarity, the teacher will designate several groups of students. Gu Xi..."

Teacher Wang's eyes locked onto the back row. "You're in the same group with Shen Xiangyang."

“Cough cough cough…”

Li Ming couldn't help but choked and started coughing.

Gu Xi looked at Teacher Wang on the podium in disbelief: "Teacher Wang! This... this..."

"The objection is invalid."

Teacher Wang interrupted Gu Xi directly.

Her eyes swept over Shen Xiangyang, who was also frozen, and her tone softened: "Shen Xiangyang has a solid theoretical foundation, and Gu Xi is good at hands-on work and has an active mind. They complement each other perfectly. This time, you can choose your own topic. Please cooperate well and don't let me down."

After Teacher Wang finished speaking, he turned around and started teaching.

As soon as the bell rang, Gu Xi stood up and the chair made a harsh friction sound.

He placed his hands on Shen Xiangyang's desk, leaning forward with a strong sense of oppression: "You handle the theoretical part, and I'll handle the experiments and the report."

Although their relationship has improved, Gu Xi is still very resistant to teaming up with Shen Xiangyang.

Shen Xiangyang was shrouded in Gu Xi's shadow, his body subconsciously shrank back, but his eyes did not retreat.

He raised his head, met Gu Xi's angry gaze, and said in a calm voice, "The topic needs to be discussed. It's not up to you alone to decide."

Gu Xi was choked by his calm rebuttal and became even more annoyed: "What do I have to discuss with you?"

"no."

Shen Xiangyang refused firmly. He explained to Gu Xi seriously, "The competition requires a close integration of theory and practice. If the plan is not reasonable, the result will be wrong."

He picked up the physics textbook, turned to the page about the competition, and pointed at the detailed requirements with his slender fingers.

Gu Xi looked at the finger with distinct joints and a scholarly air, then looked at Shen Xiangyang's face which was full of the word "serious", and his anger seemed to be hitting cotton.

He scratched his hair irritably, slumped back in his chair, crossed his arms and sulked: "Okay, okay, okay, tell me, what should we do?"

After school, most people left the classroom.

Shen Xiangyang and Gu Xi were forced to stay in their seats and began their first real "cooperative discussion".

Shen Xiangyang spread out his notebook.

Several research directions that he thought were feasible were listed above, with densely written information on the theoretical basis, required equipment, and analysis of possible difficulties next to them.

Shen Xiangyang's thinking is clear, his logic is rigorous, and his handwriting is as neat as printed text.

He began to explain one by one, speaking at a steady pace and using precise words, completely immersed in his own world of thought.

Gu Xi listened absent-mindedly at first, crossing his legs and tapping his fingers impatiently on the table.

But as he listened, when Shen Xiangyang mentioned a certain idea, his eyes suddenly lit up.

"etc!"

Gu Xi suddenly interrupted Shen Xiangyang and leaned forward: "This idea is interesting, can you explain it in detail?"

There is a scent of sunshine on Gu Xi.

The distance between the two was suddenly shortened, and Shen Xiangyang's heart paused uncontrollably for a second, but soon returned to normal.
