Chapter 140 Maggots

As they approached the base, Xia He finally couldn't take it anymore. She stopped the car and put it back into her spatial storage. Seeing this, Xiao Lin immediately drove over and said, "Xia He, take my car back. It's still quite hot outside, but it'll be cooler in the car."

As he spoke, he grinned at Xia He, revealing his large front teeth.

Xia He rolled her eyes at Xiao Lin and turned to leave.

Xia He walked back to the base, and then went straight home.

The first thing I do when I get home is take a shower. The air outside is so hot and humid that it feels like my lungs are being burned if I take another breath.

For the rest of the time, Xia He stayed at home and continued her cultivation day and night.

"Although the mutated flies are not very powerful at the moment, it is hard to say what the mutated animals will be like in the future. So, Xia He, you still need to work hard to cultivate."

The three-year-old girl, with her arms crossed, looked at Xia He with an air of maturity.

Xia He looked at the little potato in front of her, held back for a long time, and finally burst out laughing.

"Hahahaha, Xiaohua, your pretentious serious look is hilarious!"

Xiao Hua didn't want to pay attention to Xia He, so she floated back into the space.

Time flies, and a week has passed in the blink of an eye.

"Base Commander, Dr. Fu said there's been a major discovery. Please come and take a look," a soldier-like man said to Xiao Lin.

Xiao Lin nodded to indicate that he understood, and then went to Dr. Fu's research room.

As soon as the door opened, Fu Jing immediately ran over and tried to climb onto Xiao Lin's arm, but Xiao Lin quickly walked towards Dr. Fu and blocked her way.

"Brother Xiao, it's been so long since I've seen you. Have you missed me?"

Fu Jing blinked her eyes, unwilling to give up, and said to Xiao Lin.

Xiao Lin ignored him and said to Dr. Fu, "Dr. Fu, I heard you have made a major discovery. May I ask what it is?"

Before Dr. Fu could speak, Fu Jing interjected, "It's the fly's egg, how scary, Brother Xiao."

Xiao Lin finally couldn't help but say coldly to Fu Jing, "Miss Fu, Dr. Fu and I need to discuss some matters. Please step outside for a moment."

Fu Jing left the house in a fit of anger.

Dr. Fu looked at Xiao Lin apologetically and said, "My daughter has been spoiled since she was a child and has often bothered the base director. I hope the base director will not hold a grudge against a young girl."

Xiao Lin said, "It's alright. Dr. Fu, what is the major discovery you mentioned?"

Dr. Fu began, “I’ve been studying fly carcasses these past few days and discovered that these flies are laying eggs extremely quickly and in large numbers. The maggots that grow from them grow very fast and are very large. After several days of cultivation, these maggots can now eat black-spotted mushrooms, and the maggots that grow from eating mushrooms have no pathogens on them. I’m thinking that these maggots might be able to serve as protein for our daily meat supply.”

Next, Dr. Fu led Xiao Lin to a small room.

Xiao Lin looked at the wriggling white maggots in front of him with a surprised expression.

An enormous number of maggots wriggled on the white lab table, forming a white ocean that covered the entire area.

The maggots were enormous and plump, their surfaces as white as jade, shimmering with a faint luster. They were tightly connected, forming a gigantic living organism that seemed to engulf the entire laboratory. Each maggot was constantly wriggling, the fine textures on its surface appearing and disappearing under the light, creating a horrifying sight.

The wriggling sound filled the entire space, like the sound of thousands of tiny tentacles intertwining.
