Chapter 57 Smoothing Hair

After collecting the supplies, Xia He hurried back, shook her frozen legs, and then climbed up to the 32nd floor in one go.

When Xiahe opened the door, a wave of heat rushed towards her, instantly thawing her cold body. The warmth of the indoor heating filled the entire room, and she felt a sense of comfort and warmth. At Xiahe's feet, pandas and Tangyuan welcomed her return, leaping joyfully. Their fur shimmered under the light, and they roared in greeting.

The two little ones seemed to be saying, "Meal ticket! Why have you been gone for so long! We've been waiting for you to death!" Xia He helplessly bent down and squatted down, patting one of the chubby heads with each of her two hands.

She couldn't help but think of the loneliness brought on by the little boy downstairs. Xia He herself had her dog to keep her company, which not only provided her with companionship but was also her family and supporter in this apocalypse. Thinking of this, Xia He hugged the two little ones even tighter.

But this heartwarming moment was shattered by a cold voice: "Have you rested enough? Time to go out and find supplies?"

Xia He looked at Xiao Hua speechlessly, thinking, "How could such an eyesore be here?"

"I'm tired today, I'll go out tomorrow, I need to rest." Then, not wanting to talk to Xiaohua anymore, she returned to the kang room, took off her heavy clothes, and changed into comfortable home clothes.

Xia He skipped lunch today for convenience, or perhaps because she's been lying at home all day and isn't really hungry.

Having been hungry all day, Xia He curled up on the kang (a heated brick bed), where the warmth gradually penetrated her cold skin, providing her with a touch of comfort.

Xia He took out a large pot from her spiritual spring space, preparing for a Thai meal! The pot emitted a rich aroma of Tom Yum soup, with tender chicken, prawns, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, and chili floating in it, the steam rising high. Next to it was a plate of curry chicken in bread and stir-fried water spinach; the chicken in bread was covered with a thick curry sauce, looking incredibly appetizing.

Upon seeing their master's delicious food, Tangyuan and the panda immediately sat up straight, drooling and staring at the food. Tangyuan was so hungry that it kept tugging at Xiahe with its two legs and roaring anxiously at Xiahe, its tongue licking its lips incessantly, as if expressing its desire.

Xia He looked very helpless. It was only this one meal that she hadn't arranged for the two little ones to eat first. They were in such a hurry. It seems they are still spoiled!

Tangyuan picked up the curry bread chicken and put it into the bowls of the two little ones. The two little ones ate it while their tails kept wagging.

Xia He couldn't help but laugh in exasperation, but she still prepared a sumptuous dinner for them.

Xia He enjoyed the warmth and contentment of this moment. Outside the window, the cold wind howled, but on this large kang (heated brick bed), she and her dog shared a delicious Thai meal, feeling the warmth and comfort of home.

However, this moment of tenderness was quickly interrupted by Xiao Hua, "Go find the spirit stones, now, immediately!"

Xia He even suspected that Xiao Hua might be jealous because she was a spirit and couldn't eat or touch it.

So he asked, "Xiaohua, why are you rushing me like this? Are you jealous of the two little ones?"

Xiao Hua stared at Xia He with wide, indignant eyes. For some reason, Xia He could even detect a hint of embarrassment and impatience in Xiao Hua's expression.

Xiao Hua still spoke with her usual aloofness, "Jealous of what? Jealous of two low-level beasts? Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"

Xia He touched Xiao Hua's head in a daze, though she couldn't actually touch it, but it was a symbolic attempt to comfort the big cat and stroke its fur.
