The first thing you see is a gigantic sphere that stretches as far as the eye can see. It's made entirely of metal, and even in the night, it gleams with a metallic sheen, giving it a highly futuristic look. The fortress gate is a massive, circular metal door, inlaid with intricate decorative patterns, resembling a huge circular shield. There are no obvious handles on the door, suggesting it's opened using some kind of high-tech method.
The massive walls, constructed of metal and robust alloys, appeared impregnable. They were covered with various sensors and monitoring equipment, forming a formidable defensive line. The entire base was circular, surrounded by no other buildings, and had no other entrances except for the fortress gate.
In front of the fortress gate was a wide open space with no obstructions. Xiao Lin led Xia He through the metal gate, where an identity recognition system appeared. An unregistered identity card was required to enter. Xiao Lin placed his own identity card in and gestured for Xia He to do the same.
As a green light appeared, the metal door slowly opened.
Upon entering the fortress, Xia He felt the temperature drop considerably. Xiao Lin said, "The interior of the fortress maintains a constant temperature 24 hours a day. Currently, we rely on solar energy, so there's no need to worry about electricity for the time being."
The first thing they saw was a small front hall with a circular workbench in the center. There were two staff members on duty inside. When they saw Xiao Lin, they saluted him. Then, he gestured for Xia He to swipe her ID card. With a "beep" sound, the door opened, revealing a large living room with a floor-to-ceiling window, a small kitchen, a bedroom, and a toilet.
It's like the layout of a luxurious one-bedroom apartment before the apocalypse.
Xiao Lin looked at Xia He and scratched his head. "This is the largest one-bedroom apartment. Housing allocation at the base is based on the number of residents."
